Chapter 27 - Chapter 26 — Zenca Forest — Part 4: Counting to Three Is Optional

The enraged ogre drove the sword into his own chest. That action hit all the goblins.

"This is the power given to me. Through the Demon King, I consecrate my life."

The goblins planted their boards into the ground, placed their right hand on their chest, and the left hand on the board.

"Kaela, what are they doing?"

Seraphine came back to her senses.

"Ow, my ear. Why are you doing this, goddess?"

Lyra dragged Donkey over near me.

"I'm not a goddess. I'm a demon hunter."

This is not the time for you to joke around.

"We need to run before this gets out of control."

I grabbed Seraphine by the arm.

"Run where, Kaela?"

All my friends are tired. Even if we ran, we'd get caught fast.

"Lyra, why are you smiling?"

She turned my head toward the goblins.

"Kaela, I want a demon like that."

Why do you want a demon?

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5—everyone with your hands up!"

"Right hand on your waist and now spin your hips!"

What did I miss? When did you all get into this madness?

"You're doing great, boys. You're real cheerleaders."

Was that what the ogre wanted to do?

"Kaela, I'm going to help Dorian and Donkey."

Do whatever you want. Me, I. . .

"We need a girl for the big jump."

I looked for Seraphine, but she went with Lyra.

"Kaela, you will be our: GOAT."

Dorian dragged me by the arm and I grabbed onto a branch.

"I'm not doing any jumps. And why did you pick me?"

You could've picked Lyra.

"You're the only girl wearing beach clothes."

Donkey pulled my hand off the branch.

"What kind of conclusion is that?"

There's nothing I can do.

"Let go of me. I'll do it."

They started celebrating, but my instincts said something else.

"Hey, did you see where that ogre went?"

". . ."

"Bastards. If you let me fall, I'll kill all of you."

When I get down from here, I'm going to run away without saying a word.

"Great, goblins. You made a perfect triangle."

Lyra can't hide her happiness.

"Kaela is so high up and the wind hitting her hair matches perfectly."

Seraphine fixed up my hair extra carefully.

"Hey, when are you going to start the performance? I can't take it anymore."

Ha ha ha, stupid Donkey.

"Donkey, you and I are in the same mess. The difference is that you're holding all the weight."

This feeling is great.

"I'm not a pack Donkey."

Too late to cry, Donkey.

"Start already, Lyra."

I'm almost. . .

"The plan is the one we agreed on, and when I say three, you start."

"1."

Hey, Donkey— you weren't supposed to do that.

"Get away."

Seraphine and Dorian stepped back.

The pyramid made of ten goblins with me at the top collapsed after Donkey left the base. The goblins on top fell one by one.

"I'm going to die from this height."

AAAAAAAAAA

"Thud!"

"Ah, my back."

I think I broke my ribs. The pain is unbearable.

"Donkey, why did you leave before finishing the count?"

Seraphine tried to defend me.

"I. . . I only know how to count to one."

Son of a—. . .

"Why didn't you tell us before we made the plan?"

I'm leaving. This quartet of clumsy idiots is going to drive me insane.

"Brick, why are you here?"

Did Seraphine hit her head?

"Who are you talking to?"

I'm seeing a hallucination. Yes, that must be it.

"I came to help you, but on the way here, I got lost."

"Brick, my friend, you came to help us. And you brought your mother with you."

Donkey hugged Brick.

I moved closer to Dorian and Lyra.

"Are you seeing the same thing I am?"

"Yes."

Liar. They can't be.

"Lyra, pinch me."

I need to confirm another way.

"Ow—no need to do it that hard. . ."

Is that boy's mother a mannequin?

"Did you manage to save the girl?"

Brick put his mother on the ground and wiped the sweat off his face.

But why are they looking at me?

"Ah, I'm the girl you're talking about."

Having a girl's body and a man's mind is. . . Better not think about that.

"Your name is Brick?"

I held his hand.

"Yes. And what's yours?"

He squeezed my hand so hard.

"My name is Kael, but you can call me Kaela."

I did the same, but I didn't see any pain on his face.

"You have two names? How funny. City people."

Brick looked at his mother and smiled.

Ask or don't ask? Curiosity is destroying me.

"Is that your mother?"

Please say no.

"Yes."

Damn it.

"Kaela, stop wiping your hands on me."

Lyra, forgive me.

"Get away from my mother, pervert."

Me, a pervert? Who does this kid think he is?

"Who are you calling a pervert?"

I was about to punch Brick. . .

"Noble lady with blond hair and half-naked, I, Dorian, request that you accept marrying me."

What a crazy guy.

"Dorian, did you fall out of the crib?"

Dorian stared at me.

"I slept with my parents, but why do you think I fell?"

"How do I explain this to you?"

I slapped my own face twice.

"I can't."

Hey, you don't have to shove me.

"Leave it to me, Kaela. I'll explain."

Lyra shoved me away.

"Then explain. I want to see."

I leaned on Donkey to rest.

"Dorian, are you seeing these boobs?"

That's how she's going to explain?

"Yes, I'm seeing them, and they're beautiful."

Dorian looked like a judge, not blinking at a single detail Lyra showed.

"Touch these boobs."

When Lyra said that, I realized Brick. . .

"No one touches my mother."

Brick pulled out a sword to attack.

"Calm down, Brick. This is for the good of progress."

"What is progress?"

Lyra scratched her hair.

"Kaela, what is progress?"

Lyra, don't pull me into this.

"I don't know anyone with that name."

Lyra got uncomfortable and. . .

"Donkey, what is progress?"

"HA ha ha. Lyra, you're asking Donkey what progress is?"

My stomach hurts from laughing so much.

"Progress is: a change of state (of something) that moves it to a higher level; growth, development, increase."

I'm going to kill this Donkey.

"How do you know that but you can't count?"

I grabbed Donkey by the neck.

"That's your problem, Kaela."

Donkey made me fall on purpose. I'm sure of it.
