"Yeah!" Rex Raptor sneered. "It can attack directly when you have no Attack Position monsters! I'm taking Joey out first!"
Chains suddenly erupted from Joey's back row, snapping around the Tyranno's body.
"I activate Continuous Trap Curse of Darkness!" Joey barked. "As long as this stays, your Ultimate Conductor Tyranno can't attack or change battle position—and its ATK drops by 700!"

Rex Raptor clicked his tongue. "Whatever. Tyranno Infinity attacks Red-Eyes Retro Dragon!"
"And then—Evilswarm Salamandra and Ultimate Conductor Tyranno… send Joey to hell!"
"Joey!" Yugi shouted.
Joey's grin didn't waver. "I activate Quick-Play Spell Scapegoat!"
Four bleating Sheep Tokens popped into existence. Salamandra and Tyranno smashed two of them apart, but the remaining tokens held the line.
"Tch… you survived." Rex spat. "I set one card. End." (Hand: 3)
"At the end phase, my Salamandra's ATK returns to normal."

He immediately slapped down a Spell. "I activate Pot of Greed—draw two!"
Joey's eyes lit up at what he saw. A small, confident smile crept onto his face.
"Next, I activate Monster Reborn! Come back—Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

He set one card. "End." (Hand: 2)
"Wait—Joey, that's it?!" Tristan blurted. "He just ends like that?!"
Aoi's gaze stayed on Joey's set card. "No. That look means he drew something he wanted. Let's see what he's planning."
Weevil laughed, nasty and loud. "Hehehe! Joey, you're still useless! Next turn we'll show you real despair!"
Weevil's Turn… and Joey's Interruption
Weevil raised his hand. "My turn—draw!"
Before he could continue, Joey's voice cut through like steel.
"Despair? I've lived in it."
The cabin seemed to quiet around him.
Joey's eyes flicked to Yugi, then—briefly—to Kaiba and Aoi, as if measuring how far he'd come.
"For me, losing isn't hell. It's the stairs I climb to get stronger."
He slammed a Trap card face-up.
"I activate Trap Metalmorph: Enhanced Reflective Armor!"
Aoi's eyes softened for a split second. "Joey… you really changed."
Joey continued, voice steady. "This card lets me Tribute one face-up monster—then Special Summon a monster that lists Metalmorph in its text from my hand, deck, or grave!"
He pulled a card from his deck and thrust it forward.
"Come out—Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon!"

Weevil scoffed. "Tch. 3400? Big deal. I'll just destroy it!"
Joey didn't blink. "Metalmorph equips to it after activation—ATK and DEF +400!"

Weevil's smirk faltered. "...Hmph. Fine. I activate Monster Reborn! I Special Summon Inzektor Centipede from my Graveyard!"

"And now—Centipede's effect! I equip Inzektor Hornet from the Graveyard!"
Centipede's stats surged.

Weevil snapped his fingers. "I send Hornet to the Graveyard—Hornet's effect destroys your Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon!"
Aoi exhaled, almost amused. "Idiot."
Kaiba's eyes narrowed. "What?"
Aoi didn't look away from the field. "That dragon won't go down like that."
Smoke burst across the table—then cleared.
Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon still stood, unscathed.
Weevil's eyes bulged. "W-What?! Why didn't it break?!"
Joey pointed at the shining armor. "Because a monster equipped with Metalmorph can't be destroyed by Spell effects or monster effects—and it can't even be targeted by them!"
Yami Yugi smiled, genuinely. "Joey… you've gotten stronger."
Weevil grit his teeth, furious. "Tch… wasted another turn!"
He set two cards. "End!" (Hand: 1)

"My turn—draw!"
"I'll show you I can keep up," he said calmly, eyes burning. "Joey, since you revealed your new power… I won't hold back either."
He activated a card that made even Aoi's eyes narrow in approval.
"I activate Continuous Spell Dark Magical Circle!"
Aoi's thoughts flickered. That's the backbone of a real Dark Magician line… so he's serious.
"On activation, I look at the top three cards of my deck. I reveal and add either Dark Magician, or a Spell/Trap that lists it… the rest return in any order."
He checked the three and revealed one card with a small, confident smile.
"I add Chaos Form to my hand."
Weevil and Rex both stiffened.
"And now—" Yami Yugi's voice dropped, resonant. "I activate Continuous Trap Eternal Soul."
A stone tablet rose behind him, violet light seeping through its cracks.
"By its effect—come forth from the Graveyard…"
Dark Magician emerged from the tablet, staff raised, cloak snapping like a banner.
