Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon

Kisaragi glanced at the card she'd drawn, the corner of her mouth lifting.

"President Kaiba—this may sound disrespectful, but this duel is already over," she said with a smile.

What? Kaiba's eyes narrowed. I have two Blue-Eyes on the field and two set cards. There's no way I can be wiped out in one turn.

"Then let me show you," Kisaragi said.

"I activate the Spell Card Rage with Eyes of Blue from my hand! Its effect lets me return one Level 5 or higher Dragon I control to its owner's hand—then destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field!"

She gestured sharply.

"I return Blue-Eyes White Dragon to my hand. Kaiba—your set Spell and Trap Cards will all be destroyed!"

Blue-Eyes beat its wings. A violent cyclone swept across the platform, shredding every face-down card on Kaiba's back row.

Kaiba's gaze remained hard.

"Even if you destroyed my set cards—your field has no monsters now. How exactly do you plan to deal with the two monsters on my side?"

Kisaragi didn't answer.

Instead, she placed a card.

"I Normal Summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue in Attack Position!"

A silver-haired girl appeared on Kisaragi's field, smiling faintly in Kaiba's direction.

Maiden with Eyes of Blue (ATK 0 / DEF 0)

"Maiden with Eyes of Blue…?" Kaiba's heart thumped again, as if something deep inside him had been stirred.

"You summon a 0 ATK monster in Attack Position," Kaiba said coldly. "What are you trying to do?"

"I activate the effect of Sage with Eyes of Blue from my hand. I send it to the Graveyard and target one Effect Monster on the field. Send that monster to the Graveyard, and then I Special Summon one 'Blue-Eyes' monster from my Deck!"

She paused—precise, deliberate.

"And at this moment, I activate Maiden with Eyes of Blue's effect. When this card becomes the target of an effect, I can Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand, Deck, or Graveyard!"

With a smooth sequence, she sent Sage with Eyes of Blue and Maiden with Eyes of Blue to the Graveyard—

—and then placed two cards onto the field.

"Come forth, my Blue-Eyes White Dragons!"

Blue-Eyes White Dragon (ATK 3000 / DEF 2500) ×2

Just like Kaiba, Kisaragi now had two Blue-Eyes on the field.

Kaiba's composure cracked.

"Two Blue-Eyes… from the Deck… and you still have one in your hand—don't tell me you also possess three Blue-Eyes White Dragons?!"

His voice went hoarse at the end.

"Yes," Kisaragi said plainly. "Just like you—I have three Blue-Eyes White Dragons."

Not only three Blue-Eyes… but also support cards like Maiden with Eyes of Blue… Kaiba's mind raced. Is she even better at commanding Blue-Eyes than I am?

For the first time in a long time, a poisonous doubt crept into his chest.

But Kisaragi didn't stop.

"My turn isn't over. I activate Polymerization!"

She lifted two cards.

"I fuse one Blue-Eyes White Dragon on my field with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in my hand!"

Kaiba's eyes widened.

"Fusion Summon—appear! Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon!"

A new dragon emerged—two-headed, radiant, and terrifying in its stillness.

Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon (ATK 3000 / DEF 2500)

"Is this… a new Fusion form of Blue-Eyes?" Kaiba muttered, almost involuntarily.

"Battle!" Kisaragi declared. "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon, attack Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

Kaiba's eyes sharpened. "You're insane. You're making them kill each other?"

"Twin Burst can't be destroyed by battle," Kisaragi said calmly. "So the one that gets destroyed… is yours."

"What?!"

Kaiba's Blue-Eyes shattered under the collision.

Kisaragi's smile turned faintly mischievous.

"And I forgot to mention something, President."

Kaiba's breath caught.

"Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon can attack twice per turn."

"Continuous attacks…?!"

"Go—Twin Burst! Attack the other Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

The second Blue-Eyes on Kaiba's field was destroyed as well.

Kaiba exhaled sharply—then, almost reflexively, tried to latch onto the obvious.

"Hah… your monster's done attacking. So how do you plan to defeat me—"

His laughter died in his throat.

His eyes had fixed on the card Kisaragi was holding.

"F-Fusion… Release…" Kaiba's voice trembled.

"Correct," Kisaragi said. "By De-Fusion's effect, my Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon returns to the Extra Deck, and I Special Summon the Fusion Materials used for it from my Graveyard—meaning Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

Twin Burst split apart in a surge of light—

—and in its place, three holy white dragons stood on Kisaragi's field.

Kaiba stared at them, dazed.

"…Kisara…" he murmured unconsciously.

Kisaragi's eyes narrowed for just an instant.

"This ends it. Blue-Eyes White Dragon, attack the player directly—Burst Stream of Destruction!"

"AAAGH!"

Kaiba raised his arms to shield his head as the white blast swallowed him.

Seto Kaiba: LP 1000 → 0

Kisaragi Aoi wins!

The duel platform lowered slowly. Kaiba's pupils went unfocused, as if all light had drained from them.

"I… lost. I actually… lost…" he muttered, then slammed both hands onto the duel table—cards scattering across the surface.

"No… I didn't lose to her…"

His voice shook.

"I lost to Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Of course… Blue-Eyes is the strongest!"

When he lifted his head, Kisaragi's face was right in front of him—beautiful, composed, close enough to steal breath.

Kaiba's heart started pounding harder.

Kisaragi had walked over to make him honor the deal—but his sudden movement startled her.

"You okay? You scared me."

"N-No… I'm fine," Kaiba coughed once, forcing himself back into control. "Sorry. I startled you."

He steadied his breath—and then, as if reciting a contract:

"Per our agreement: every card in this briefcase is yours. And as of this moment, you are an employee of KaibaCorp—assigned to the game development division."

He extended his hand.

"Thank you," Kisaragi said, taking it.

"I'll take you home," Kaiba said. "Where do you live?"

"Nearby. XX Apartments."

Kaiba's face hardened instantly.

"…What?"

Kisaragi blinked. "Is something wrong?"

"My employee will not live in that crumbling apartment," Kaiba snapped.

He pulled out his phone and made a call.

"Prepare a room. We have a guest moving in today."

He ended the call and looked at her like it was already settled.

"Starting today, you'll live at my villa. For as long as you want."

"W-What?!" Kisaragi froze, flustered. This was the first time she'd ever been told to stay at a man's home overnight.

"Isn't that… inconvenient?"

"My house is large," Kaiba said flatly. "One more person changes nothing."

He led her out of the arcade without giving her room to argue.

Sure, it's convenient for you, Kisaragi complained silently—then her thoughts twisted in a different direction. But Kaiba is famously a straight-laced, blunt guy. Probably no danger… and if I'm living at Kaiba's place, I'll be eating well and living comfortably. Why not?

The more she thought about it, the more she found herself looking forward to life in Kaiba's home.

Kaiba saw she didn't refuse. The corner of his mouth lifted—just slightly.

Behind them, the arcade owner watched the scene and nodded as if he'd understood everything.

"Looks like President Kaiba's spring has finally arrived."
