Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 — The Limits of the Individual

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): shocked.jpg]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): That's way too broken, isn't it?! This is basically infinite power growth! (jaw-drop.jpg)]

[Group Leader (Aizen): Sigh. In reality, this kind of "getting stronger as an individual" isn't all that useful.]

[Group Leader (Aizen): When the problem is "saving the world," individual combat power matters very little. Even if I truly reached the theoretical limit of personal strength, I still wouldn't be able to save the world. (sigh.jpg)]

He paused, then added:

[Group Leader (Aizen): Of course, when I say "world," I don't mean a planet, an ecosystem, or the habitat of a particular species… I mean the real world. The whole of existence itself—the very root that sustains everything.]

At that point, Kafka joined the discussion, echoing Aizen's view.

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): The group leader is right. Individual power, on the scale of a grand narrative like "saving the world," has an almost negligible impact.]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): Take our universe as an example—planet-busting existences aren't rare. For a civilization living on a single planet, defeating an enemy trying to destroy that planet is enough to proudly claim they "saved their world."]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): But if you widen your view to an entire galaxy—an even broader cosmic structure… then unless you're powerful enough to be like an Aeon, becoming part of the universe's rules themselves, an individual simply isn't qualified to talk about changing the world's trajectory.]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): And the reason Aeons can become Aeons is also because the unique rules of our universe permit it. Even beings as strong as Aeons still struggle to transcend the framework of the cosmos.]

Kafka then pivoted, sharing her own experience with the Possibility Doppelgänger:

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): The doppelgänger I summoned this time was a version of me who stepped onto the Path of the Hunt. In pure combat power and destructive capability, she might even be a little stronger than I am now.]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): But she lacks certain traits—traits that allow me to become a crucial piece in our universe's effort to "cross the end."]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): So for that goal, the value of Possibility Doppelgängers isn't very high for me.]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): Of course, it isn't absolute. If, like Mash, you happen to meet a doppelgänger that fills a key flaw you possess, that truly is a rare stroke of fortune.]

The "realm" described by Aizen and Kafka was far too distant and vast. For the other members—those from ordinary worlds, or worlds that hadn't even left their home planet—it was hard to grasp.

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): Ah… Group Leader, Sister Kafka—what you're saying is too huge! Our world hasn't even left the planet yet! The whole world? I can't even picture it. My brain is buzzing! (dizzy.jpg)]

[Grilled Eggplant (Mash): Yeah… it's hard for people to surpass the boundaries of their own cognition—like trying to imagine something you've never seen. I understand what the Group Leader and Senpai Kafka are saying literally, but… it doesn't feel real. (frowning, thinking.jpg)]

[Grilled Eggplant (Mash): In Chaldea's understanding, enemies are usually concrete: a powerful being, a colossal disaster… something we can understand, analyze, and ultimately find the strength to fight or defeat. So far, we haven't faced an enemy that an individual absolutely cannot overcome.]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): Um… my world is just a normal daily-life world. Sure, now we've discovered supernatural things like Personas and Palaces, but "the world" at that level is still way too far away. We don't even have the species-level crises Rin and Mash are dealing with… (I don't understand, but I'm deeply shocked.jpg)]

On the Stellaron Hunters' ship, Kafka nodded in understanding.

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): It's fine if you can't understand. For your worlds, this may simply be useless knowledge. (smile.jpg)]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): But if any of you become interested in the future, you're welcome to visit my universe anytime.]

Aizen immediately followed up.

[Group Leader (Aizen): Honestly, your universe is a bit too dangerous. Before the others go sightseeing, I should go first, scout things out, and evaluate the risks. Safety first. (serious.jpg)]

[Purple Sweet Potato Taro (Kafka): Mm. Agreed—this arrangement is more prudent. With the Group Leader scouting ahead, it would indeed avoid a lot of potential trouble.]

Aizen's sense of responsibility warmed Sakiko's heart—and it also made her suddenly remember her own mixed-blood doppelgänger's abilities.

Sakiko quickly seized the chance to ask.

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): By the way, Group Leader… speaking of danger, my Possibility Doppelgänger has a very dangerous ability—"Raging Blood."]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): This ability deliberately weakens one's human will, forcibly stimulating and activating the dormant draconic genes in the body, allowing a short-term burst of terrifying combat power far beyond normal.]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): But the cost is equally terrifying.]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): The primal killing intent from the draconic genes violently erodes the user's sanity, driving them into madness.]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): What I'm most worried about is whether the killing intent erosion that the doppelgänger endures while using Raging Blood could spread along some mysterious connection… and affect my main body. (trembling.jpg)]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): So if possible, I hope when you have time, you can come to my world, keep an eye on me, and help test the risk.]

[Classic Lunchbox (Sakiko): Please! (hands together.jpg)]

Right after Sakiko's request was posted, the always quick-thinking Rin popped up, unusually proactive.

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): I've got an idea!]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): Little Saki, go buy one of those cheap glass-bead bracelets, then buy the group shop's "Omen Premonition."]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): That way, if your doppelgänger's Raging Blood really does influence your main body, the glass beads will sense the danger and shatter!]

[Athletic Lunchbox (Rin): The more beads break, the more dangerous it is! (proud hands-on-hips.jpg)]

Ever since Rin used Omen Premonition to successfully detect the threat brought by the "First Lord," she had become a big fan of this concept-extracted product from Tsunade.

[Group Leader (Aizen): Rin, the idea itself is interesting. It really could serve as an early warning.]

Looking at Rin's enthusiastic plan, Aizen first acknowledged her helpfulness—then immediately pointed out the key issue.

[Group Leader (Aizen): But the greatest value of Omen Premonition is discovering hidden threats you haven't noticed—just like how it helped you uncover the First Lord's influence.]

[Group Leader (Aizen): Right now, Sakiko already knows Raging Blood and killing intent are potential dangers.]

[Group Leader (Aizen): In that case, we shouldn't rely on Omen Premonition just to passively judge how severe the danger is. More important is to actively solve it and develop countermeasures.]
