Chapter 4 - Chapter 4— Future memories

Ryan looked around the void in confusion.

"Where the fuck am I?" He questioned, confusion written all over his face.

"I remember going to bed after..." He paused as he remembered what happened before he went to bed.

He'd been exiled. Ex-communicated even. Stripped of all titles and inheritances.

If he had to guess, the new heir would probably be that annoying half-brother of his.

'That asshole.' He thought with annoyance written all over, as he remembered his asshole of a brother.

"Haaa." He simply sighed, tired of it all as he focused on where he was.

"What the hell is this place anyway?" He questioned as he moved this time. At least he tried to anyway.

Try as he might, he couldn't move from where he stood. His hands and head could move.

His legs couldn't.

"What the hell?"

[Calm down mortal]

A deep, almost soothing voice, spoke out in the empty void.

"Who's there?!" Ryan turned his head round, searching with confusion all over his face, where the voice was coming from.

[It is pointless child. You will not be able to pinpoint me.]

The voice said again, stopping Ryan from his futile efforts.

"Who are you?" Ryan asked, as his nerves settled down.

"Are you.... a god?" Ryan asked, his voice almost nervous while asking.

It was a well known fact that gods exist. They were believed to be the ones that granted gifts to the human race when they were first invaded by the dungeon beasts.

And till date, some of the gods chose to become the guardians of humanity and chose vessels to grant divinity and make them their emissaries.

Hence if this being in this place devoid of light was a god, Ryan wouldn't be surprised.

'Don't tell me, am I about to become an emissary?' He thought, excitement brewing in his head as he thought of the possibility.

And yet, reality hit him like a truck.

[No. I am not a god. I am but a messenger sent to give the inhabitants of this planet a fighting chance in the gruesome war to come.]

'Oh.' Ryan's mood dropped at the mention of 'I am not a god'. But just then his ears perked up as he realised he ignored something important just now.

"Gruesome war?" He questioned, looking up where he assumed this being would be gazing at him.

[Yes.]

The voice replied curtly.

"How gruesome are we talking here?" Ryan probed.

[That scene you just saw play out? That was from the future.]

The voice affirmed, it's voice still as neutral even while delivering heavy news like this.

As soon as it said that, Ryan almost felt the color drain from his face. If what the voice was saying is the truth.

It means that scene he saw, was their world in the near future.

And given the nature of the conversation that blue-skinned inhuman had with the golden-haired human, humans were being exterminated.

"Humanity would be.... wiped out." Ryan muttered out, almost as if he was trying to confirm.

[Yes. As it stands now, humans cannot beat the Inhumans. Their most powerful warriors still asleep will awaken soon. And they will overwhelm your most powerful warriors that have kept the stalemate till now.]

The voice confirmed his thoughts, adding to it as well with further information.

"Most powerful warriors?" Ryan questioned. 'The abyssal kings? No!' Just then he remembered something the blue inhuman had said in the vision.

"Horsemen." He muttered out loud.

[Yes. The horsemen. There is currently only one, maybe two humans in your world who can handle the horsemen alone. The rest cannot. Not even your sovereigns.]

"Seriously?" Ryan muttered out in disbelief. It wasn't that unthinkable that there were beings stronger than the paragons, no.

Afterall there were literal gods out there. What shocked him was that their enemy whom they had only been able to so far, fight to a stalemate.

"Fuck. That's unbelievable isn't it? Can mortals really grow that strong?" Ryan had to question.

Everything this voice had been telling him so far, while not far fetched, was still difficult to accept.

[Hmm. Perhaps it is easier to simply show you. Afterall, seeing is believing according to you mortals.]

"Huh—?" Ryan's voice was cutoff as his vision suddenly went dark as he fell down to the ground.

And so, a trip down memory lane began. Future memory lanes.
