Chapter 18 - Divorce

At the scene, only Jeff knew that the person who had asked the delivery driver to bring the gift was none other than Butler Vance.

Only the Sterling family had the audacity to casually hand over something worth ten million dollars to a delivery driver.

At the birthday banquet, all the guests were stunned by this gift.

"This jade bracelet is the most expensive gift among today's congratulatory presents!"

"Grandma Harper, who sent this gift? They are so generous! You must introduce them to us later."

People came forward to ask Old Madam Harper questions.

In fact, Old Madam Harper was also completely baffled and could not figure out who had sent the multi-million-dollar gift.

"Strange, all the families that have connections with the Harpers are here today. No one has been missed. Who gave us this bracelet?"

The Harper family members were all looking at each other.

Looking at the bracelet worth millions, Jessica Harper also wanted to handle it and play with it. She suddenly said:

"Could it be a gift from one of my suitors?"

This statement immediately sparked speculation among the public.

Jessica had a stunning figure; any man who saw her would be unable to sleep at night.

She was only twenty years old and didn't have a boyfriend yet, making her the object of desire for many wealthy young men.

Michael laughed and said, "Very likely! My daughter is so beautiful, with millions of fans online. It's very possible that it was given by a rich young man who likes Jessica."

Victoria Lang glanced at Jessica. As a woman with an excellent figure herself, she also recognized Jessica's charm in this regard.

Victoria Lang said, "Then congratulations in advance, Mr. Harper. Your future son-in-law is quite generous, giving gifts worth tens of millions."

Michael smiled happily. "Not at all, Ms. Lang, you flatter me."

Jessica was also very proud, while Emily became even more jealous when she saw that Jessica had found a rich admirer. Her gaze toward Jeff turned more resentful.

Jeff was speechless at the Harper family's behavior. He had made a phone call in front of everyone, asking someone to send a gift.

In the end, the gift arrived, but no one thought it was from Jeff.

They preferred to believe that this was a fabricated suitor of Jessica!

Jeff put down his chopsticks and asked Emily, "Emily, have you finished eating?"

Emily glared at Jeff with disdain. "You're done eating? What's up?"

Jeff stood up from the dining table and said, "Now that we've finished eating and given you your gift, let's go to the courthouse to get a divorce."

"Wait, what did you say? You gave a gift? When did you give it?"

Emily questioned Jeff.

She had been complaining about Jeff's lack of ability, while Jessica's supposed suitor had given a congratulatory gift worth tens of millions.

Jeff had been the Harper family's son-in-law for three years, yet he hadn't even prepared a gift.

Jeff pointed to the jade bracelet on Old Madam Harper's hand. "That's it."

Upon hearing this, Michael slammed his fist on the table in anger. "Jeff! You're shameless! How dare you say that this bracelet was a gift from you? This bracelet is worth tens of millions; you couldn't earn that much money in several lifetimes!"

Jessica was also very angry. "Emily, can you stop making your good-for-nothing husband look bad? This was clearly a gift from one of my suitors."

Brandon sneered. "A family of four, unable to offer a decent congratulatory gift, yet they come out to claim gifts from others. They're a disgrace to the Harper family!"

Emily was very embarrassed and felt ashamed. She said to Jeff:

"Let's go, let's go, let's get to the courthouse right now. I don't want to be your good-for-nothing wife anymore, not even for a second!"

Emily picked up her bag, started walking, and headed out the door.

"Emily, I'll take you there!"

Ryan Caldwell quickly chased after her, looking very happy.

Jeff then turned around and looked at Old Madam Harper. "For the past three years, for better or for worse, we have been a family. This bracelet is for you. Happy birthday."

Jeff's mother-in-law, Susan Harper, said impatiently, "Alright, alright, stop pretending and get lost! Stop bragging!"

Brandon touched the wound on his face and said bitterly, "Jeff, after the divorce, get on the train and get out of Riverforge right now! I don't want to see you in Riverforge again! Do you hear me!"

Jeff chuckled and said, "Whether I leave Riverforge or not is my freedom, and you have no right to interfere."

After saying that, Jeff walked out the door.

Just as he stepped out of The Pinnacle Hotel, a BMW 7 Series suddenly pulled up, and the passenger-side window slowly rolled down.

Inside the car were Ryan Caldwell and Emily.

Ryan said, "Kid, Emily said you're not worthy of riding in a BMW. You should ride a shared bike instead. We'll wait for you at the courthouse."

After saying that, Ryan stepped on the gas, and the BMW sped away.

Jeff hailed a passing taxi and followed closely behind.

The two arrived at the entrance of the courthouse, one after the other.

Upon arriving at the courthouse, they took the prepared household registration book, marriage certificate, and divorce agreement.

The two quickly completed their divorce proceedings.

The courthouse gave them each a purple divorce certificate.

The two officially announced that they were dissolving their marriage and were no longer husband and wife!
