Chapter 34 - The Demon's Sacred Vow :

Lost in her own world Sheyaan Kept staring at Zavian, her gaze intense and unwavering.

The silence between them was so deep, it felt as if time itself had come to a halt.

That's when Fangxi noticed them. Seeing Sheyaan standing so close to Zavian, he panicked.

Quickly stepping forward, he grabbed her shoulders and shook her slightly.

"Sheyaan…! What are you doing?"

The moment Sheyaan felt his hand on her shoulder, she snapped back to reality.

The dreamlike illusion shattered instantly. She looked around in confusion, as if she couldn't understand where she was.

Fangxi spoke again, his voice filled with concern and confusion.

"Sheyaan, why did you come downstairs in this condition? Are you even in your senses? You even broke the glass frame! What's gotten into you?"

Hearing his words, Sheyaan felt a sudden jolt. Her mind went blank. Stammering, she said softly,

"I… I broke the frame? But...but...how…?"

Before she could fully gather herself, her eyes fell on Alisha, who stood nearby, greeting her with a small gesture and a silent "hello."

Now fully aware of her surroundings, Sheyaan realized everything at once—the people in front of her,

the toothbrush still in her mouth, and the shattered glass scattered across the stairs. A wave of embarrassment washed over her.

Hesitantly, she glanced toward Zavian.

He was still standing there, silent and unmoving, his eyes fixed on her—as if trying to read straight into her soul.

That unwavering gaze only made Sheyaan feel even more flustered.

overwhelmed with embarrassment Sheyaan quickly lowered her head her eyes squeezing shut tightly.

her heart was pounding like a drum in her chest. Just then, Fangxi's voice echoed,

"Sheyaan! Go—freshen up quickly… go!"

Stammering softly, she replied,

"O… ok...okay…"

She hurriedly muttered a quick "sorry" to everyone and rushed away. Covering her eyes with her hand as she ran, her innocent reaction brought a soft, amused smile to everyone's face.

But Zavian?

There was still no change in his expression. He stood there like a statue—calm, silent, and unreadable.

Clearing the atmosphere, Fangxi said,

"Alright, let's sit down."

Everyone took their seats on the sofa. Then Younshu, smiling, gestured toward Zavian and said,

"Boss, meet him. He's a very old and close friend of mine—the one I told you about before.

"Mr. Zayan. And from today onwards, he will be Sheyaan's new, intelligent, and most powerful bodyguard."

Fangxi looked Zavian up and down. His calm authority and composed presence clearly impressed him. Then, in a serious tone, he asked,

"Can you truly take care of my sister? You'll have to stay by her side at all times.

24/7. Are you ready for this responsibility?"

Hearing this, Zavian slowly lifted his head. His deep, dark eyes locked onto Fangxi's—

a gaze that carried the weight of a silent vow.

Zavian looked straight into Fangxi's eyes his voice firm and steady as he spoke.

"You don't need to worry. I will take care of her so well that you'll never have a reason to complain."

As he said those words, there was a strange glint in his eyes almost as if an old connection was quietly being restored.

Fangxi took a deep breath. He was beginning to trust Zavian.

"From the way you speak, it seems you truly can take care of Sheyaan. But remember… she can be quite stubborn.

"You'll have to handle all her stubbornness as well."

After a brief pause, he continued,

"For now, Sheyaan's studies are being managed from home. But in a few months, she'll start going to university again.

"So I want you to begin your role as her bodyguard starting today. What do you think?"

Without even a moment's hesitation, Zavian replied,

"Don't worry. I've always handled stubborn people very well. And as for starting today… I begin my duty right now."

Seeing his firm resolve, Younshu smiled and said,

"Well then, that settles it! Since everything is decided, starting today sounds perfect."

Sensing the seriousness in the atmosphere, Zavian finally spoke,

"Now that everything has been decided, I would like you to sign a contract in your sister Sheyaan's name."

The moment Fangxi heard the word "contract," he fell into thought. Frowning slightly, he asked,

"A contract? What kind of contract?"

On the other hand, Younshu felt a chill run down his spine. Fear was clearly visible on his face, because he knew that a demon's contract often led straight to death.

He understood that every word Zavian spoke carried a deeper, hidden intention.

But Zavian remained completely unfazed. In his firm and commanding voice, he began laying out the conditions:

"My contract will clearly state that Miss Sheyaan will not enter into any kind of 'relationship.

"I don't want any outsider becoming a reason for trouble or interfering with my duty."

After a brief pause, he continued,

"And secondly… she will not go anywhere without my permission. I don't want to be blamed later for anything.

"I perform my duties with complete dedication and perfection, and I do not tolerate anyone questioning my work."

Then, locking his eyes onto Fangxi, he asked,

"So… are you willing to sign this contract?"

Hearing these conditions, everyone present—Fangxi, Younshu, and Alisha—was left stunned.

A heavy silence filled the room, so deep that it felt impossible to break.

Fangxi thought for a moment, then said,

"What you're saying is absolutely right. It's true that being in a relationship is common these days,

"but her safety comes first. I'm... ready to sign this contract."

Hearing this, Younshu let out a deep breath of relief. He realized that this wasn't a death sentence,

but rather a way to protect Sheyaan from every possible danger.

Just then, Zavian spoke in his deep voice,

"Younshu… give the contract to Mr. Fangxi."

Younshu looked at Fangxi in confusion, then turned to Zavian and said,

"But… but I don't have it!"

A faint, mysterious, and cold smile appeared on Zavian's lips. Looking at Younshu with his sharp, gleaming eyes, he said softly,

"Check your coat pocket… it will be there."

Hesitantly, Younshu slipped his hand into his coat pocket. His face turned pale with shock when he felt a rolled piece of paper inside.

Slowly pulling it out, he stared at it in disbelief—he had no idea when or how it got there.

Seeing his stunned expression, Zavian gave a subtle, knowing smile.

Then Younshu, with slightly trembling hands, placed the contract in front of Fangxi.

Without wasting any time, Fangxi signed it and looked at Zavian before asking,

"So… now tell me, what salary do you expect?"

Smiling, Younshu looked at Fangxi and quickly replies.

"He doesn't need any salary."

Hearing this, both Fangxi and Zavian looked at him in surprise.

Sensing the moment, Alisha stepped in smoothly,

"What Younshu means is… you can continue with the same salary as before. Zavian simply wants to protect your sister."

Zavian looked at Fangxi with his deep, steady gaze and said calmly,

"You may pay whatever you wish. For me, my duty comes first."

Fangxi seemed a little relieved and nodded,

"Alright then, fulfill your duty well."

Then he turned to Alisha and added,

"Alisha, make sure you take care of Sheyaan's studies too."

Alisha replied immediately,

"Don't worry, I'll teach her properly."

Fangxi then said,

"Alright, we should leave now. There's a lot of work at the office."

As Fangxi and Younshu were about to step out, a voice came from behind,

"Where are you going… Fangxi?"

Fangxi turned back to see Sheyaan standing there. She was fresh now, but her eyes still carried questions.

In a gentle tone, he replies.

"Sheyaan, I'm heading to the office. Focus on your studies, okay?"

Sheyaan nodded softly,

"Hmm… okay. But go carefully, alright?"

Fangxi smiled,

"Alright. You take care too. Bye-bye!"

Then Younshu stepped closer to Zavian and said in a playful tone,

"Do your duty properly… and don't embarrass me, okay?"

Zavien fixed his gaze on Younshu his eyes deep and unreadable.

Younshu grew slightly nervous, then scratched his head and laughed awkwardly.

"Oh… right! I almost forgot how perfect you are at your job. Alright then, bye!"

He glanced at Alisha, gave her a soft smile, and then left with his boss, Fangxi.

Now, only Sheyaan, Alisha… and the silent demon bodyguard remained in the hall.

A heavy silence settled over the room.

Zavian stood still, but his gaze suddenly shifted upward—to where Manglang was standing. Manglang looked down from above, his expression filled with bitterness and darkness.

In his mind, he thought,

"No matter how hard you try… you can't escape me…"

Manglang was certain that no one could hear his thoughts.

But Zavian… was no ordinary man.

Every single word, every thought passing through Manglang's mind—Zavian heard it all, clearly.

Slowly, Zavian looked at him…

and a mysterious smile appeared on his lips.

A smile that carried a silent warning.

meant only for manglong.
