Lina observed the noblewoman from the corner of her eye, finding the whole performance rather amusing. Judging from Ilsa's disappointed expression, the supposed childhood friendship was probably nothing more than an excuse to approach her. The two of them likely barely knew each other, if they had met at all.
Nevertheless, Ilsa was responsible for safeguarding the royal jewels, a position that required a certain degree of status and trust. Yet she had been so eager to ingratiate herself with the future empress that she had practically thrown herself at Lina's feet. There was probably more to it than simple ambition. Perhaps the woman had encountered some trouble she couldn't resolve on her own and hoped to secure Lina's favor before the coronation.
