Chapter 39 - Act 2 Chapter 20 — Late to realize

In the middle of the Storm of Road, where the Zone crystal appeared.

Infori spoke to Nathan, trying to confirm what he had said before while trying to stand back up. "This is what I said before, the Zone crystal can't be destroyed so easily."

"Yes, yes. I believe you, the master is right." Nathan fully recovered. "So, what should we do to stop this strangeness?"

"Honestly, I'm confused. We need help if we want to completely destroy the crystal," Infori said.

"Help?"

"Yes, help from my friend. He possesses extraordinary powers. Destroying the Zone crystal is probably just a small matter for him."

Nathan was shocked, his eyes wide. "Seriously?! Where is he now?"

"Unfortunately, the chances of him coming here are only ten percent out of a hundred. Because I'm sure he's busy dealing with this there too."

On the other side, in the Storm of Road plaza.

Flynn slashed the Morak in front of him, splitting them in half with his sword. But one of the Morak targeted him, attempting to attack. Unfortunately, the attack was futile as Flynn kicked its face first, sending it flying and crashing to the ground.

"Garrgh!"

Without further ado, Flynn thrust his sword blade through the fallen Morak's chest.

CRAK!

"GRRHH!"

The Morak vanished instantly. Flynn took a deep breath, thinking for a moment, considering the possibilities if he didn't act. (If this continues, it will get worse...!)

"Mr. Flynn!" a voice suddenly called out from behind him, causing Flynn to turn around and see Lilith and Iris approaching.

"You guys...?"

Lilith and Iris stopped nearby, leaving Flynn confused. He then asked them to flee. "What are you doing here? Go! The Seraphim cannot die just because of a danger zone! You have a noble duty to fulfill."

"That's why we're here!" Lilith exclaimed, answering honestly, surprising Flynn. "While we shouldn't interfere with the affairs of the Nephilim, this concerns the lives of others! Our duty is to guard the sacred tree, but we also hope to protect all the life the sacred tree protects!"

Looking at the tenacity of the Seraphim before him, they might be young for such a responsibility, but that wasn't something to be concerned about.

"…"

"Come on, this is for the benefit of the people!" Iris said. "Let us help you. I'm sure you need help, right?"

Flynn agreed.

"Okay, if that's what you want. I'll respect your choice."

Hearing this, both of them were delighted, and they thanked each other in unison. "Thank you very much!"

"Yes, I'll leave it to you!"

"Okay!" That was accompanied by a firm nod.

The two immediately separated slightly, taking deep breaths as if synchronizing their rhythm. Their fingers tightened—Lilith straightened the grip on her rapier, while the other straightened her posture and readied her dagger.

Their gazes were now fixed straight ahead, fixed on the waiting Morak.

Lilith then lunged forward first, and the Morak, realizing their presence, also moved towards her. The Morak in the lead tried to thrust his sword, nearly piercing Lilith's head. So, she turned, rendering the thrust meaningless. Then, she thrust her blade through the stomach of the Morak in front of her.

BANG!

"GARRGH!"

Lilith then turned her sword so that the blade was horizontal, then with one movement, she managed to cause a very large wound from the blade which cut her stomach.

CRACK!

The morale then disappeared.

But, his Seraphim instincts worked, he felt a danger behind him. However, he didn't have time to look back and dodge. Sure enough, a Morak armed with a sword jumped forward towards him while drawing his sword.

"?!"

However, the iris moved first before that happened. He jumped up and using one of his sharp daggers, he slashed the morak's neck until it was separated from its body, which then disappeared like burnt paper.

While Iris landed perfectly on the ground, Lilith thanked Iris.

"Thank you, Iris."

"You're welcome. You should be more careful, Lilith."

"Yes." He then turned his gaze towards the riots which had not yet finished. "Come on!"

"Good!" Iris answered.

They then dashed forward without hesitation toward the Morak waiting to be exterminated. Meanwhile, Flynn, who saw this, found the opportunity to go to the inn where Infori was currently staying.

"I'll leave it to you guys!"

They both heard him and answered without hesitation, "Okay!"

Flynn then ran toward the inn, leaving Lilith and Iris alone to deal with the monsters that had appeared. Upon arriving at the inn, he opened the door and entered. He saw the frightened people hiding inside.

He then asked Miss Bianca, who was indeed there.

"Miss Ainword, have you seen Infori?"

"I only saw him in the morning. Now I don't know where mr Atziluth has gone."

"Is he not in his room?" Flynn asked again.

"Unfortunately, he's not there. I checked earlier. Lord Deschain can see for himself if you wish," Bianca replied.

Flynn then walked towards the stairs and opened one of the doors to Infori's room. "Infori!" And Bianca was right; no one was there. Flynn went inside and saw Infori's sword, untouched.

"He didn't bring his sword..." he whispered.

On the ground floor, the people hiding in the inn were terrified by what had just happened. Worry and pallor were clearly visible on their faces, and their breathing was erratic.

"..."

Flynn, now downstairs, carrying Infori's sword in his left hand, asked Bianca once more. "Miss Ainword, do you know what Infori was doing this morning?"

"He only said he wanted to confirm the dream he had last night. Lord Atziluth even asked me about the dream that came true."

"A dream that came true...? Then, did he say he was going somewhere?" Flynn tried to confirm Infori's whereabouts.

"He just went for a walk, that's all I know," Bianca replied, finally making Flynn realize where Infori had gone and where he was.

"Don't tell me...!"

Infori and Nathan, now at a loss as to how to resolve this, simply stared at the Zone crystal with an uneasy feeling.

"..."

(Come on... how do we stop this madness?)

The crystal suddenly glowed brightly, accompanied by flashes of electricity that struck the surrounding area.

"?!"

"What now?!" Nathan asked.
