Chapter 19 - chapter 19: She felt safe

Dani, still trying to calculate his next step, spoke slowly.

"This really wouldn't have escalated like this if Abi had just explained herself. I would have apologized on behalf of the mother of my children."

His words hung in the air.

He had no hesitation admitting that Chelsea was the mother of his children, not Abi.

Abi said nothing.

She was still stunned, her mind replaying the video she had just seen over and over again. Her thoughts spiraled.

When did he get that footage? How did he manage to get the video?

She turned her gaze toward Michael, who stood beside her. At 6'4", he towered over her 5'10" frame. Dani, at 5'7", felt even smaller in comparison, but Abi's mind barely registered their presence anymore.

She simply shook her head, trying to silence her thoughts, then gently mouthed a "thank you" to Michael and held his hand publicly, standing her ground.

Dani saw it.

And his blood boiled.

His fingers slowly clenched into a fist, hidden at his side.

Chelsea saw it too.

Her nails dug into her palm as jealousy tightened in her chest.

It felt like a twisted love triangle unfolding in real time.

Abi finally tilted her head and smiled faintly at Dani.

"Ohhh… so you would've apologized on behalf of the mother of children you're not even sure are yours?"

Dani frowned sharply.

"What are you talking about, Abi? Stop trying to create confusion. I know I made a mistake and I apologized. Don't twist things."

Before Abi could finish, Chelsea stepped forward, her voice shaking but defensive.

"You love playing these games, don't you? Just because I made a mistake, you want to drag everything out? I already apologized let it go!"

Abi's smile didn't fade.

"You're scared I'll expose you, aren't you?" she said calmly. "I told you before… when I decide to speak, you won't have a chance to defend yourself. And I warned you the last time we don't play the same game twice."

Chelsea froze.

A wave of panic washed over her face.

She remembered everything.

Two years ago.

How she had lured Abi out using Dani's phone.

How she had plotted with her friends.

How she had spiked Abi's drink.

And how everything had gone wrong when Michael appeared out of nowhere and stopped it.

That was also the moment Chelsea realized Michael wasn't just anyone he was powerful, untouchable, "at the top of the food chain," as she later discovered. That realization had only deepened her resentment toward Abi.

What Chelsea never knew was that Abi and Michael had known each other long before all of this.

Around them, the crowd began to lose interest. People slowly dispersed, whispering among themselves.

Dinah and her mother, who had been watching nervously, finally sighed in relief and prepared to leave.

But Chelsea wasn't done.

She suddenly blurted out, her voice shaky and reckless.

"Abi, you should be ashamed of yourself holding another man's hand in public! I already apologized what more do you want? Do you want to call the police on me?"

Michael stepped forward immediately.

"Don't worry. They're already on their way."

Dani frowned. "What do you mean?"

Michael's tone was calm but firm.

"You think this is a family reunion? Anyone who hurts Abi will not walk away from this."

By now, reports had already been made to the police station.

One came from the mall manager, overwhelmed by the disturbance he couldn't control.

The other came directly from Michael.

And Michael didn't just report it, he escalated it. He called his contacts and sent his men to the mall as well.

Two separate responses. Two different levels of urgency.

Chelsea and Dani stiffened.

"You called the police?" Dani asked sharply.

Michael didn't flinch. "Yes."

Chelsea's voice cracked. "This is insane…"

Abi, who had not been protected like this since losing her parents ten years ago, quietly looked at Michael. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe.

Dani stepped forward, anger rising.

"Micheal Osborne, Abi is still my wife. You are crossing boundaries. I will report you for adultery."

Before Michael could respond, Abi raised her hand and pressed it gently against his palm.

Then she spoke clearly.

"Mr. Wellfound… the divorce papers have been in the wardrobe in your room for a long time. You just never saw them. Or maybe you never bothered to read them."

The air shifted instantly.

Abi had already made her decision long ago.

When she discovered Dani's double life with Chelsea through Michael's help, at first she refused to believe it. She thought it was manipulation. A setup.

But evidence piled up.

Bank transactions. Secret loans. Gifts meant for her, redirected to Chelsea.

Every promise Dani made about "financial struggles" collapsed under the weight of truth.

She remembered how she had once helped him:

giving up shares from Dani's father so he could regain control of his company

merging her father's company into his, boosting his wealth and influence

supporting him through family pressure and suspicion

All while Dani failed to see her sacrifices.

At first, she only wanted distance from Michael.

But over time, something changed.

She began to breathe again around him.

Smile again.

Live again.

It had been three years since she reconnected with Michael, and she had never regretted it once.

Meanwhile, Dani remained blind never noticing that the designer items he never bought for his wife were all the same ones Chelsea wore.

The truth had always been in plain sight.

A friend of Dani's mother had once spotted Abi with Michael, taken photos, and sent them over. She described them as "a couple," even mentioning Abi's child resembling Michael.

That fueled suspicion.

Dani's mother, already uneasy, pushed for a DNA test.

She had always suspected the child might not be Dani's, blond hair, intelligence, traits that didn't align with their Dani's line.

She even considered a hospital mix-up.

Though she knew that Dani himself had already built a secret life with Chelsea.

And everything was about to collide.
