MIREYA POV
By morning, a horn blew sharp and loud, echoing across Brasshall. A messenger ran through the halls, calling all of us to assemble at the training grounds.
I groaned, swinging my legs over the bed. My body ached from the Riftwalk yesterday, and my chest still throbbed from… last night. Every step felt heavy.
I knew I needed to apologize to Kaela. I had snapped at her last night when all she wanted was to check on me. I couldn't leave things like that.
I changed into my training clothes, slipped them on quickly, and caught my reflection in the hallway mirror… pale, messy hair, tired eyes. I didn't have time to glam up a bit. I packed my hair into a ponytail and headed out.
Kaela was outside her room, stretching, adjusting her hair. She looked up, cautious after last night.
"Kaela…" I said softly. "I'm sorry for snapping at you. I didn't mean it."
Her expression softened, a small smile appearing. "It's okay. I get it… yesterday must have been a lot for you."
