"I really have to thank those greedy terrorists," Obadiah said with a twisted grin. "They didn't listen to me and went ahead and killed you. I thought you, my little golden-egg-laying hen, were worthless."
"Yet here you are, Tony—you've given me a surprise. You just laid the biggest golden egg of your life."
As he spoke, Obadiah pulled out a magnetic manipulator about the size of Tony's chest arc reactor.
"You really are a genius, Tony. This… this will change the world!"
With a press of a button, the Arc Reactor was slowly lifted off Tony's chest.
"Beautiful… this is a true work of art, a perfect masterpiece! Do you know? I even built an armor stronger than your new toy, just for this piece of art."
Obadiah admired the Arc Reactor in his hands.
Then he shot Tony a disdainful glare.
"You've grown nothing since you were 21. You actually believed I would hand the company over to you?"
He slapped Tony across the face with a harsh motion.
"Want to buy my shares at 50% above market value? Try to kick me out of my own kingdom? Enjoy your last few minutes, Tony!"
"You won't be lonely for long—Pepper will join you soon. What a good woman she is, isn't she?"
Obadiah laughed maniacally and left.
Tony collapsed onto the sofa, straining his neck to move, but he couldn't even speak.
The clock on the wall ticked 193 times before Tony finally exhaled.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., call Qin—get him to Stark Industries immediately! Pepper's in danger!"
He instructed J.A.R.V.I.S., then staggered toward the basement, dialing Pepper's number frantically.
No one answered.
Tony stumbled down the long staircase, barely making it to his workbench, struggling to reach the initial micro Arc Reactor Pepper had repackaged for him.
"Ah!"
He let out a hoarse shout.
Without the Arc Reactor, he felt like shards were blocking his veins—an inexplicable suffocation.
"Hope Qin can get to the company in time to save Pepper… he should be fine," Tony thought, his consciousness beginning to fade.
Just when he was about to give up, his usually clumsy, metal-arm AI assistant seemed to sense his distress.
It slowly moved from afar, its mechanical arm sweeping the Arc Reactor from the table.
The glass casing shattered as it hit the floor.
Tony summoned every ounce of strength and shoved the Arc Reactor into his chest.
"HO! Good boy!" he praised, taking a deep breath. Relief washed over him, a feeling of having survived a catastrophe.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., did you reach Qin?"
"Apologies, sir. Mr. Qin hasn't answered."
"No time left… Pepper!"
Understanding Pepper's importance, Tony quickly donned his armor, having J.A.R.V.I.S. continuously dial her number.
Luckily, as he flew toward the company, Pepper answered.
"Tony?"
She had just finished work, noticing her phone on silent on the couch, filled with missed calls from Tony Stark.
"Pepper, thank God! You answered. If you're still at the company, leave immediately! Obadiah has my reactor and secretly built an armor."
"Oh my God! Are you okay, Tony? What will you do without the reactor?"
Like Tony, Pepper first thought of his safety.
"I'm fine. Thanks to the Stark heart you gave me, I'm fine. I'm heading to the company now—leave immediately, now!"
"Okay!"
Knowing Tony was safe, Pepper ran for the elevator.
Unfortunately, just as she reached the company entrance, the asphalt beneath her churned violently.
A three-meter-tall steel giant burst through the ground from an underground secret base.
"My God!"
Pepper stepped back, stunned, staring at the Iron Tyrant.
"Pepper! Perfect timing! I'll get you to Tony right now!"
Obadiah controlled the Iron Tyrant, raising its massive steel arm.
If Qin Xiao were here, he would marvel at the fate at work—his presence had already changed many things.
Even the creation of the Iron Man armor now occurred two months earlier than in the original timeline.
Yet some events still played out similarly, as if preordained.
Just as Pepper was about to be shredded by the Gatling on Iron Tyrant's right arm, Tony descended from the sky in his suit.
"Whoosh!"
He collided at full acceleration with the Iron Tyrant's head, smashing through the wall with it.
They rolled out into the bustling street, tearing through a large van in the process.
The two steel giants—one large, one smaller—landed in the middle of the road.
The sudden obstruction caused nearby cars to swerve, leading to collisions and honking chaos.
One driver, blind to the reason for the commotion ahead, slammed on the brakes just in time, narrowly avoiding the Iron Tyrant.
Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, Obadiah got the Iron Tyrant back up and grabbed the vehicle.
Amid the driver's screams, he lifted the van like a weapon.
"Focus all energy to the chest!"
Tony, noticing people in the car, shouted a warning.
The reactor on his chest blazed, shooting a laser cannon thicker than a fist.
The blast sent the Iron Tyrant rolling multiple times.
Tony then extended both hands, and Mark 2 smoothly caught the falling vehicle.
