Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28

"However, there is one problem."

Father Litzol slowly said, "Chrollo is too young."

"I'm not that old either, am I?"

Moge finally spoke, uttering his first words since Father Litzol arrived.

He vaguely anticipated what Father Litzol meant.

"You are different."

Father Litzol shook his head slightly, and a smile appeared on his face as he observed the vigilant aura and Nen swirling around Moge:

"You have already opened your Aura Nodes and stepped into Nen."

The so-called potential and talent, in this world, naturally refers to Nen.

"No matter how much talent Chrollo has, no matter how much potential he possesses, it is still only talent and potential."

Father Litzol said softly, "In this world, only those who can ultimately mature are considered truly outstanding."

While Chrollo certainly has great talent and potential, he does not even know what Nen is yet.

He is too young; now is not the time, and the conditions are not yet ripe.

Moge, on the other hand, is different. He is older than Chrollo, and Father Litzol also believes he is slightly more mature.

Most importantly, he has already opened his Aura Nodes, learned Nen, and even developed his own Nen Ability.

A Nen Ability with spatial properties, no matter which category it leans toward Conjuration or Specialization is unquestionably rare and powerful.

From any perspective, Moge is an excellent young man worthy of attention, not inferior to Chrollo.

Furthermore, anyone who understands investment knows this:

You cannot put all your eggs in one basket.

Besides Chrollo, this young man who appeared here is also extremely valuable for investment and attention.

"Child, what is your name?"

"Moge."

"Moge, is it? Very good."

Father Litzol nodded lightly, "If you need anything in the future, you can always come to the church."

"Of course, if you feel it is not suitable, you can continue living your own life."

"However, in a place like Meteor City, there is no better environment for growth than here."

"If you intend to continue improving yourself..."

Indeed, within Meteor City, few places can compare to the church in terms of resources, safety, and connections.

This is also why Chrollo often comes here.

"Why are you doing this?"

Seeing Father Litzol turn around, about to leave, Moge asked again.

Even standing on the other party's territory, his tone remained cautious but respectful.

"No reason..."

Father Litzol looked at Moge again: "It is simply for myself."

"It is merely to secure Meteor City, and my own interests within it."

For the first time, Father Litzol spoke so plainly, so directly, completely different from his usual benevolent image.

"When you, Chrollo, Uvogin, and Phinks have all grown up..."

"You will be able to protect Meteor City and safeguard its interests."

Clearly, Father Litzol's attention was not limited to just Chrollo and Moge; he was also observing other promising children.

"As long as Meteor City remains stable, then I, who reside here, will naturally benefit."

Indeed, the church is a unique existence within Meteor City.

No matter how chaotic or impoverished the outside is, the church has always stood firm and orderly.

"I have also traveled the outside world, so I understand how dangerous it is."

Father Litzol slowly said, "All I want is to spend the remainder of my life in peace here."

"I do not wish for anyone to disrupt this fragile balance."

"What I do is for myself, and at most, a final contribution to this place."

After saying that, he walked toward the door.

"I have one last question."

Moge looked at his back: "Is what you are doing worth it? Aren't you afraid that we might..."

"What else do I have to fear?"

Father Litzol's voice drifted farther away:

"Am I afraid you will waste my support? Or betray me?"

"All I do is provide opportunities. The cost is negligible compared to what you may become."

"Even if you fail, or die before reaching that point, it does not matter."

"I will simply choose someone else."

"After all, in Meteor City, everything is scarce except people."

Just as he said, Meteor City lacks everything, except an endless supply of lives.

In such an environment, countless strong individuals can emerge.

Moge could not deny the logic.

Only those who survive and grow can truly be called geniuses.

"As for betrayal..."

Father Litzol's voice faded, leaving only his final words:

"This place has already been abandoned. What is there left to betray?"

Silence returned to the room.

"An abandoned place..."

Moge stared at the doorway where Father Litzol had disappeared.

From afar, a countdown echoed faintly.

"Five, four, three, two..."

The videotape had likely been fixed, and Chrollo was leading the children again.

Putting everything else aside, Chrollo's charisma was already beginning to take shape.

"Investment, huh..."

Moge murmured.

Then, a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"In that case, it seems I'll be visiting the church more often."

Moge could not be completely certain whether Father Litzol's "investment" was genuine.

However, judging from how he treated Chrollo in the original trajectory of events

Providing resources, organizing screenings, even recommending him to the Meteor City Elders

It was clear he truly supported him.

After Sarasa's death, it was also Father Litzol who contacted the undertaker from the outskirts to restore her body.

And eventually, the Genei Ryodan was born.

Chrollo did not disappoint.

He led his companions to become a powerful force within Meteor City.

Under their influence, outsiders no longer freely trampled this place.

Even during crises like the Chimera Ant incident, the Troupe returned to eliminate the threat.

At the same time, through Chrollo's actions, Meteor City established connections with the underworld.

Resources began to flow in exchange for manpower.

The environment, though still harsh, became relatively more stable.

And for Father Litzol, that was enough.

"The future Chrollo, with Father Litzol's support, became a world-class criminal..."

"Then I can also make use of that support to complete my own early growth..."

Moge thought calmly.

More importantly, Father Litzol had already noticed him.

Avoiding him entirely within Meteor City would be nearly impossible.

And most crucially

He needed electricity.

He needed a stable power source to continuously refine his body, strengthen his aura, and grow his Nen.

And right now, only the church could provide that.
