Chapter 27 - CHAPTER 27

The projection on the stage was about to resume, and Chrollo was leading everyone in a countdown.

They also needed to prepare for the subsequent screenings.

Up front, under Chrollo's guidance, everything was lively, and the re-screening was about to begin.

Meanwhile, in a quiet room inside the church.

"It should be impossible to be discovered or disturbed here, right?"

Moge carefully surveyed the surroundings. This was a place he had deliberately chosen.

A secluded corner within the church, with visible dust gathered nearby clearly a place few people ever visited.

And from the faint glow of the light bulb near the entrance, it was obvious that electricity was available.

Moge quickly located a power outlet in the corner.

"This will do."

Without delay, he took out the [power enhancement machine].

Then he plugged the interface into the outlet.

Beep!

The indicator light lit up.

Power was connected.

Without hesitation, he placed the headgear over his head and pressed the switch.

Zzzzz!

In an instant, platinum-white currents surged across the device, crackling with energy.

They rapidly transformed into streams of power that coursed through Moge's entire body.

Hiss!

The moment the energy entered him, Moge felt his scalp tingle.

A powerful force stimulated every part of his body.

It wasn't pain just a sharp, unfamiliar sensation he could adapt to.

More importantly

Under the continuous infusion of this power, Moge could clearly feel it.

His body was getting stronger.

"My physical strength… is increasing!"

Even at his current level, the improvement was obvious.

Muscles, bones, endurance everything was being refined under the flow of electrical energy.

Not just that.

Even the Qi within his body was gradually increasing.

Though the growth of Qi was slower compared to physical enhancement, it was steady.

And that alone was enough to excite him.

"As expected of an invention from Goat Village… praise Village Chief Slow Goat."

Moge couldn't help but admire it sincerely.

This was what true invention looked like.

Originally, his strength was that of a complete beginner.

But now, under this enhancement

He was gradually stepping into the level of a proper Nen user.

"Formal," in this sense, meant roughly comparable to Gon and Killua after their training at Heavens Arena.

At that point, they could already defeat fighters like Gido and Riehlvelt.

In other words

This short burst of enhancement alone was approaching the results Gon and Killua achieved after months of training under Wing.

From March 10th, when they first learned Nen

To June 4th, when Gon defeated Gido

That level of growth was now being mirrored in Moge's current state.

"At the very least… among Nen users, I've surpassed those third-rate ones who barely understand what they're doing."

As the charging process came to an end, Moge clenched his fist and looked at his arm.

The muscles were visibly more defined.

"At least now… I have some ability to protect myself."

Of course, this kind of enhancement couldn't be sustained indefinitely.

Too much strain would damage the body.

He needed time to adapt to familiarize himself with this newfound strength.

Only then could the effects be maximized.

"After the screening ends… I'll test this properly."

With that thought, Moge removed the headgear and stored the device.

Just as he was about to leave

His body froze.

"…?!"

His pupils shrank.

Reflected in them

Was Father Litzol, standing silently at the doorway.

"A Nen ability with spatial properties…"

Father Litzol spoke calmly.

"And that machine just now…"

"Are you a Conjurer? Or perhaps a Specialist?"

His tone remained gentle, just as it always was when addressing the children.

Moge said nothing.

His gaze subtly swept the surroundings.

"You chose a good place."

Father Litzol continued evenly.

"This room is secluded. One entrance. No other exits."

"Of course, if you intend to break through the wall, that is also an option."

"But I don't think it needs to come to that."

His eyes narrowed slightly as they rested on Moge.

"I am not your enemy. There is no need to be so wary."

Moge remained silent, thoughts racing.

If Father Litzol had hostile intent, he could have acted earlier when Moge was completely focused on the device.

But he hadn't.

That meant

He had other intentions.

"He knows about Nen… even the categories."

"And he mentioned Conjuration and Specialization…"

"He clearly understands the system."

"And he has connections to the Elder Council… to the undertaker from the Mist Forest Valley…"

All the clues aligned rapidly in Moge's mind.

Father Litzol was not an ordinary figure.

Yet the key point remained

"I am not your enemy."

And indeed

Moge felt no killing intent.

No hostile aura.

In his current sensitive state, he would have noticed immediately.

Which left only one conclusion.

"…You want something from me."

Moge narrowed his eyes slightly.

Whether it was his Nen ability

Or something else entirely.

"You see…"

Father Litzol spoke again, his gaze calm.

"I was originally very optimistic about Chrollo."

"I saw in him the potential to change Meteor City."

"Meteor City… is undergoing a dangerous shift."

"More and more outsiders treat this place as their playground indulging their malice freely."

"And those who suffer… are the residents here."

"Someone must step forward and change that."

His voice remained soft, yet carried weight.

"And among all the children here… Chrollo stood out to me."

"He is intelligent, talented, and possesses remarkable insight."

"I was even prepared to recommend him directly to the Elders."

There was no doubt

Father Litzol held Chrollo in extremely high regard.

He believed Chrollo could change Meteor City.

But now his gaze rested firmly on Moge.

As if reconsidering something.
