Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31

"He's just setting the stage for something bigger; there must be more coming, right?"

Chrollo subconsciously thought this in his heart.

And then, Uvogin certainly didn't disappoint Chrollo's understanding of him:

"But it's only slightly better."

Uvogin crossed his arms and tilted his head up.

"You can only rely on the footage provided by others to do the voice acting. You can't truly rely on yourself to perform it in person!"

Rely on himself? Perform it in person?

Sarasa, who was listening intently behind them, couldn't help but freeze upon hearing this.

She immediately turned to Franklin beside her and asked, "That Uvogin guy, did he lose his mind?"

"Did you guys fight just now? Did you hit Uvogin's head?"

"We didn't."

Franklin could completely understand why Sarasa would ask that.

"But then why..."

Sarasa was utterly confused.

She didn't finish her sentence, but Sheila and Pakunoda beside her understood what she meant.

Why would Uvogin ask such a foolish question?

All the children of Meteor City knew how rare it was to be able to watch such an animated film.

No one had ever shown them anything like this before; only Chrollo had managed to do so by bringing it to them.

And as those who had practiced the voice acting performance alongside Chrollo, they understood the difficulty involved even more deeply.

Forget animated films; the children in Meteor City couldn't even find ordinary film and television works.

Not to mention someone like Chrollo, who specifically wrote the plot and dialogue and led them in practicing the voice acting.

Only then, after great effort, was he able to present a work that satisfied everyone to the children of Meteor City.

Yet coming out of Uvogin's mouth, it turned into nitpicking like this?

This was treating Chrollo's efforts and hard work too lightly, completely trampling on his painstaking dedication.

Instantly, the look in Pakunoda's eyes when she gazed at Uvogin turned somewhat hostile.

Even the usually gentle Sheila couldn't help but feel a little anger rise.

They all felt that Uvogin was clearly trying to find fault with Chrollo.

He has already done this much, what more do you want?

Is this something that can actually be filmed?

If they had the resources, wouldn't they want to film it?

It was already very difficult to produce such a voice-acted work in this barren and impoverished Meteor City.

Yet after watching it, you stand there making sarcastic remarks about how this isn't good enough and that isn't good enough.

If you really think it's not good, why don't you try?

If you can do it, go ahead!

While Pakunoda and Sheila were indignant, Chrollo responded seriously to Uvogin:

"I also thought about giving the children of Meteor City the best possible performance."

"But given the current state of Meteor City and my own limitations, I can only provide the children with voice acting using the footage of Sweeping Warriors."

Chrollo didn't make excuses; he simply laid out the current reality.

Given the conditions in Meteor City, how could actual filming be supported?

"See, that means you can't do it."

Uvogin raised his head proudly. "However, just because you can't doesn't mean others can't either."

"For instance, on our side, we definitely have the means to film something that is better, greater, and even more"

Before Uvogin could finish boasting, Moge pressed a hand onto his face, looking rather speechless.

Then he pushed Uvogin aside, clearing the path.

"I appreciate and really like your performance."

Moge looked at Chrollo before him. "Did you write all this plot and dialogue yourself?"

"Yes. The videotape only contained images, no sound..."

Chrollo nodded lightly. All the voice acting was based on the content of the visuals.

And the connections between the scenes, the characters' movements and actions he used all of that to design the plot and dialogue.

It could be said that it fundamentally matched the overall footage, making it easily acceptable to the children of Meteor City, without any parts feeling abrupt or out of place.

"Chrollo is really amazing!"

Pakunoda behind him couldn't help but interject. "Chrollo completed all of this by himself."

"He even voiced quite a few characters!"

Pakunoda also recognized Moge; he was the man she and Chrollo had seen through the projection room window earlier.

That strange man who effortlessly made plants produce food.

She couldn't help but glance at Moge a few more times.

"I see. Then you are indeed a very capable fellow..."

Moge smiled and complimented Chrollo, then used his thumb to point toward Uvogin, who had been pushed aside and quieted down.

"What that Uvogin guy said was a bit off-key, but as for me, I genuinely intend to film a production for the children of Meteor City that we perform ourselves."

Huh?!

Chrollo's eyes widened slightly. Looking at the calm Moge, he didn't sense any trace of a joke.

He's serious?

"You don't need to worry about the filming equipment; leave that to me..."

Moge spoke as if he had prepared this long ago. "And regarding logistics, I can also provide assurance."

"However..."

Moge looked at Chrollo. "I want to refine the story's dialogue and plot even further, and I need someone to assist me specifically."

"Therefore..."

Moge smiled and extended his hand toward the slightly stunned Chrollo.

"Are you willing to join in and help me?"

Have him join in?

Have Chrollo join in?

Chrollo and everyone present were all quite surprised upon hearing this.

They were surprised both by Moge's declaration that he truly intended to film and perform something himself...

And by the invitation he extended to Chrollo.

Uvogin, whose temper was the hardest to control, immediately wanted to open his mouth to say something.

Then Machi fiercely kicked him in the calf.

Immediately, Uvogin clutched his ankle, grimacing.

The others including Phinks and Feitan, and even Franklin and Pakunoda from Chrollo's side remained silent.

They were all waiting for Chrollo's answer.

"Have me join in..."

Chrollo fell silent for a moment before finally raising his head.

"I want to know..."

His gaze was serious as he stared at Moge. "Why are you doing this?"

"Whatever reason you had for organizing this screening event, that's my reason too."

Moge chuckled. "What's more, people in Meteor City are always watching things discarded by the outside world, ultimately putting them in a position of being pitied."

"If possible, I want to film a production created by the people of Meteor City themselves."

"Furthermore, it could be shown in the outside world, making outsiders realize that Meteor City isn't completely worthless."

Belonging to the people inside Meteor City... their own work...

Chrollo fell into a prolonged silence once again.

Perhaps this topic and goal were too heavy for him.

Perhaps this wasn't something he should be considering right now.

Perhaps his original intention in showing the animated film to the children of Meteor City was simply to make them happy.

Perhaps Moge was a person worth trusting...

Chrollo thought of Uvogin, Nobunaga, and Machi beside Moge, as well as the troublesome duo Phinks and Feitan.

And the scene where Moge miraculously produced food from plants outside the church surfaced once again in his mind.

That wondrous scene was something he still couldn't forget.

So now, facing Moge's invitation…
