Ema's
I stared at the man who stood directly in front of me. He was very tall, and his shoulders were broad enough to block out most of the view behind him. He looked like he was made of solid muscle. Scars cut across his neck and jaw in jagged lines, looking like marks left behind by old lightning strikes. His eyes were the most terrifying part of him. They burned with a dark, hungry look that made me feel like I was a piece of prey.
Fear started at the base of my spine and climbed slowly upward. It felt like cold insects crawling over my skin.
"Who are you?" I asked. My voice was very quiet and barely steady. I tried to sound brave, but I knew I failed.
His lips curved into a slow, cruel smile. He didn't answer me right away. Instead, he took a step closer, invading my space.
