I did not bring any guards with me on this trip. I did not need them. I was an Alpha on my own, and I was more than capable of handling myself, even in a place as dangerous as this.
The rogue territory was very quiet at this time of night. It was actually too quiet for my liking. The trees stood twisted around the small clearing, looking like they were watching me. It felt like they were waiting for me to make a mistake. The branches looked like crooked fingers reaching out in the dark.
The house sat right at the edge of the clearing. It was a crooked building that looked like it was half-rotted. The boards were warped from years of rain and sun, and the paint was peeling off in large strips. One of the front windows was cracked right down the middle. There were no lights on inside, making the whole place look like a ghost lived there.
I did not bother to knock. I just stepped inside the house.
