Chapter 5 - "Truth" [Chapter 1, Part 3]

[Voice 1] "Where he may be then..."

[Voice 2] "No idea, but I start to worry something may had happened"

[Voice 1] Smiles in response "You always worry, yet it always turns out to be fine, so I guess something must had come up at work." After a silence that lasts few seconds "It's not like it's the first time anyway."

[Voice 2] "..." Looking through window. "Sure, let's hope so."

A noise of doorbell

[Voice 2] "Anna this soon? That's-.. quite out of ordinary for her"

Voice 2 being the one who answers the call to doors - opening them

...

[Voice 3 - Anna] After sipping a bit of tea, places back the glass onto the table. "Have you heard there'd been an explosion at gas station in #### ####?"

As if the tea suddenly gotten cold, [Voice 2] places the glass onto the table. "Which one?"

[Voice 3 - Anna] "No idea, but-. Maybe at TV they'll be talking about this."

~

"Have anyone came here before I woke up?" Shokui asks Rubi'i through the lips of Meteo due to him being him alone who can take control. Either way, it doesn't matter who will ask. Whether it's Aki or Shokui, same voice comes out of the mouth, and same question would be asked.

Staring as if enchanted into her brothers' eyes that send nothing but piercing coldness. She unknowingly steps back. Chills crawling through her entire body, and it's the child who is the addressee. Children of her age are incapable of sensing the fear resulted by someone's presence. "N-no, no one had come, I've been alone, I-I think?". She tries to remember past days and wonder whether she seen any kind of visage other than that of passing animals and birds. The only thing she can think of that had been out of ordinary being more crows than usually. She never seen so many crows.

She knows it's probably because of death being the only permeating smell for the past few days. But that's all, there had been no tall shapes resembling those of humans.

Wanting to make her brother happier though, she runs into the family home where she gathered all the survived items of the humans. She remembers that this one funny clothed man with many bags had this one particular object shaped in form of a box. It had leather covers and the smell of trees was permeating from the inside.

The only thing of note being that there had been some scribbles inside that she didn't understand, however, it had some drawings made of coal. She didn't look deeply into it, but she thinks that whatever is inside can't be that bad. It could even make Meteo ani'i see what she had been doing these few days and loosen a bit, maybe even be distracted by this something else than this heavy topic of their family being dead, and only them being alive.

Looking at the departing back of Rubi'i, Shokui instinctively moves the eyes in her direction, even though it's unnecessary due to constantly seeing the same picture.

It is quite dizzy to look at so much information at once, however, it's not as bad due to the brain of the body he is in, is already used to it.

"Where is she going?" he wonders. However, no longer than the thought comes, it is soon answered. She brought a book, a book that is of impressive width. It must have a lot of pages inside.

"Meetee, look!" She stumbles to the weight, but it's not a big of a difficulty to balance back to standing up with straighter posture. "I know it's bad the way brother Hee looks, I also felt bad seeing it, but please, stop making this face.." She pulls the book forward, presenting it to Meteo. "Here. There are some scribbles you may not understand, neither do I get what those funny signs mean, but the coal drawings may make you soften a bit." She smiles, trying to present herself as the encouragement her brother needs.

As a matter of fact, it does indeed reach Meteo's heart. Aki stops crying so badly and Shokui needs not to be embraced by him with so much force.

Shokui takes the book and opens the first page that has the content to it, skipping the title page. It is fully written in Latin. Considering the words he hears that bypass the automatic translation from time to time, due to probably there being no suchlike words within either English or Polish languages, he hears the Latin phrases. However, it is not 1 to 1 copy of it.

He may not know how Latin gotten onto this planet, but it changes nothing, for he learned Latin when he had gotten past the age of 23. In 2 years, that precede his death, he acquainted himself with it fully. He doesn't know though that what he sees is the old language of this world, no longer used in this form. However, it is optional to learn it, and if someone's know it, it either means that this person is highly educated, of noble status, or is part of the clergy.

Luckly, even though Meteo being of neither of those here; Paul, even though coincidentally having some noble blood of at least - or most - three noble families within his country – Poland; he learned Latin through pure hobby and curiosity. You could say he was interested in the predecessor of the Romanic language family. He planned to learn Spanish next, but it went nowhere, dying beforehand.

Something that must had been well encrypted script for the non-educated here, is easily decoded by him.

He doesn't like what he reads.

He skips through the pages, through illustration, stopping at one particular page that made him sick – full sketch of Horn Hare anatomy, descriptions of how valuable their blood for the resistance of heat it gives.

Passing through the pages that describe the uses of horns in alchemy, medium for Ethereum spells and faster gathering of Ether. He stops at the eyes and heavy specification of how to safely gouge them from the body without destroying their properties and then store them.

Shokui gets so mad that the presence he instinctively releases, due to the multiplication of the fusion of both Meteo's and Paul's souls, breaks ground below him.

Snapping out of it, he sees Ruby hiding behind the tree as she stares at him with fear.

"W-what did you s-see there.. that made you so a..angry...?" Her voice clearly trembling, regretting bringing this book. It even made Meteo angrier than seeing Hee's dishonoured corpse. "You've been skipping through it for so long that the sun is right above us-..!" Pausing due to the tremble in her voice.

Closing shut the book; I turn in the direction of Rubi'i attempting to skip the dialogue by smiling. I fail miserably. "Neither do I can read it, mi'i Elle'e~"

~

Snort.

"Silence." Shokui says to Aki

"Sorry, couldn't hold it. That response. Damn

~

"Waa, then why are you so mad?.." Rubi'i hits with the most difficult to answer question

~

"Now try to answer that~"

Glaring at Aki

"You dig that hole yourself." Aki continuing with the sudden bravado.

"Smartass, you left me to scramble with that hyperventilating you went through; huh?!! Do tell now where it disappeared?!!"

"I don't know what you read there~." Playing it off by ignoring to answer the right question.

"..." Sighs. "Why did I think now of that Venti meme". In his mind playing Ehe Te Nandayo. Tiredly adding "Just take the steers back."

"Nah, I want to see how you'll dig yourself out of it."

Sigh.

~

"And you are back to being silent again..." Rubi'i adds as she returns to hide behind the trunk of the tree.

"..." Sighs outwardly this time. "Listen.." Pausing for a few seconds to gather thought. "I may not understand what is written there, but the drawings need not the reading skill!.." Explaining softly, trying to be believable.

~

"Ooo, that's a good one." Aki adds while eating a bucket of popcorn.

"I don't even want to know how you know of the existence of popcorn..." Shokui replies being flabbergasted.

"Popcorn? What popcorn?" He delates the bucket with his thoughts trying to hide he's secretly skimming through memories of Paul life. Shokui reads him like a book.

Sigh. "If you want to see my memories so badly" Snaps a finger just for the sake of it "Then read it yourself." Literal library appears out of nowhere.

"Hey! I don't know how to read yet!

"Your problem" says while completely destroying the ability of looking through the memories as if looking through the Instagram or YouTube feed. "You are not allowed to enter the zones with red tape, though."

"Why..?" Asking out of curiosity

"That's no content for a kid to read." Finishes, ending the conversation.

As a matter of fact, he did it for the Aki's sake. He doesn't want the kid to coincidentally stumble into looking at the R-18 section of his memories.

~

"!" Rubi'i eyes glow as if accepting such answer. "Oh!" Then trying to remind him of her previous question she shoots "Then what is about these drawings that made you angrier than mom at dad, when he's getting late from looking for meat?"

"..." Sighs.

"You are sighing a lot~!" Noting the fact of Shokui quite often sighing

"True.." Trying his damnest to not roll his eyes. Instead, he averts his head, scratching due to the awkwardness. Returning his face to face Ruby's direction. "Must you really know why?"

"If it made you so angry, not really"

"That's also a true.." Pausing to gather his thoughts. "Come here"

"Why?" She asks as she feels very comfortable hiding behind this tree.

"Come here or else I will come to you. Your choice"

She runs off instead. "Noo!" She knows she is very difficult now, but she doesn't feel like it's really safe to be so close to the brother Meteo.

Flabbergasted "Who said you have authority to run from me, woman." Shokui says silent enough to not be heard even by the rabbit ears. To make a point he touches again upon that light he was able to catch when he was fighting with that swordman.

With green smoke surrounding his body he suddenly flashes forward. Not literally flashing, he's simply much faster than Rubi'i who is running already at 30 km/h. Which is impressive considering that's already faster than most men can achieve. However, his physic suddenly being able to use 100% of its theoretical strength, which mean that it's increased by square root of ten, approximately meaning 3,16 times increase. Instead of running as fast as she does, he's running 95 km/h.

He in seconds catch up to Ruby and bypass her. As she blinks, suddenly Meteo is standing in front of her, catching her with all her momentum, they roll before immediately stopping. Ruby being pinned to the ground

"Hi." Rubi'i says while being pinned to ground, being underneath Meteo.

"Hello~" He replies. "You know, I wanted to hug you then. But because you choose to run instead, I changed my mind."

"Mercy." She says with some hope, however, no one who could help her, will.

"No mercy." Meteo starts to tickle his sister, which they three now find out she's very ticklish.

Pause.

"Nuuuu!" The only thing Rubi'i can say under the assault of her squirming and giggling, trying very badly to get out of the spot where she's pinned to. Her arms, legs and chest convulse in all directions attempting to get out of this predicament, laughing. Laughing very hard/ Laughing so hard that the sadistic side of Shokui takes joy in finding his past life brother replacement.

Ah, memories. Good memories. So good memories he reminds himself of the times when his brother Marko was yet a kid. Nostalgic. And the best part, with his sudden 10 times increase to his strength she can't get out of the pin, neither she can make any kind of damage.

It doesn't mean though that her punches don't hurt. His resistance to damage didn't change with the increase of his strength, no, it actually dropped. His nervous system is now highly sensitive to any kind of pain. However, with Meteo's 10 times the density of muscles, it's simply within the tolerance of it being acceptable.

"Joy." He speaks, chuckling, seeing the glorious form of his younger sister. Ah, he always wanted to have younger sister. Unfortunately, he had to die for it. Oh well. All thanks to God. Resuming the tickling with even more favour. "Hee-Hee-Hee-Hee-Hee." Snickering horrendously yet maniacally.

"Mercy!" Rubi'i groans out in a moaning like manner, as it's incredibly exhausting to laugh so hard.

"No mercy." The conversation repeating itself, however, having a different feel to it.

It takes 2 minutes before Meteo is finally satisfied. Rubi'i underneath him breathing hard, being drowned in her own sweat.

"No.. more..." She asks in between of her breaths.

"That's what you get for running." Pure joy written on his face, oh well, at least this face is used to smiling. His old face, which is not used to smiling, would stretch terrifyingly to fit the smile.

"I... won't... run... anymore..." She says in between of her breaths. "So... stop... tickling... me... please." Adding at last.

"Sure!"

"Good..." The only thing she speaks out before resuming her inhaling the oxygen in litres. "Anyway... How... you've been... so... fast now..." She asks with a little more stable breath. "We've... always had... the same... speed..."

"Ehh.." Scratching back of his head due to the awkwardness of the situation of needing to explain himself for to the rush decision of using that weird power that allows him to use full force of the body. Though, he rather than explaining, Shokui wonders how to make an excuse. "It's something that I learned mid fighting with one of the strong guys... You've been sleeping through it then, so I guess it's first time you see me using it, huh?". Instead, he chooses to answer in a manner that would evade further need of explanation of 'how'.

"Oh... Cool.. ... Can I... learn it too...?" She asks with hope in her eyes.

"..."

"~Pwetty pwease~" Her eyes sparkling, trying to be persuasive.

"... Sure." Sighs. "I'll think of how to, later." He closes his eyes and continues in his mind; well, his and Aki's mind to be more specific; "Why must she be so adorable... I can't say 'No' to her"
