8'th Quattember 1668
time – 12:13
Day just about to end on Androm, changing its phase to the nighttime. Aether on horizon in the middle of the sky - risen, covering the presence of the sun with its glory
– if to look for existing comparison in nature, in Solar System, here it is a replacement of Terra's moon which instead of making the night enveloped by dark, darkness broke only by shine of stars, comparably the Gas Giant's solar reflection makes it as light as daylight.
Paradoxically though, this comparison is a reverse situation of reality. Fact being that the Aether is the planet here, and Androm the moon that relatively is moving around it.
Solar Eclipse? - event that's every day present to be seen.
But that's not the only glowing differentiation between the two solar systems.
Even though the distance between the sun and the planetary cluster is comparably the same, which results in full clock circle to be even 24 hours. First to note is the fact that Androme's clock starts at 0:00 and ends up at the 23:59, the same way the UCT [Coordinated Universal Time] on Terra works,
Even though relatively in comparison, the AM/PM system would make more sense here. Why?
- The reason being a particular differentiation between the two systems – of when the night starts, and when there's a day. And as it happens, the shift comes in the middle of the clock.
For the day begins at 0:00 and ends at 11:59 – Night starts at 12:00 and ends at 23:59.
However, Androm's clock on its own is also separated into 4 phases - first one starting from 0:00 to 5:59 – Day - Sun shines with its full glory, basking the whole continent 'Terrmagnam' into the daylight.
6:00 to 11:59 where Aether appears on the sky, slowly filling more and more of the view, finally enveloping the sun with its full size, beginning the 3'rd phase – Night – 12:00 to 17:59 where Aether falls slowly into the depths of the horizon, finally leaving the exo-moon to the Bask of the Void in its 4'th phase – Deep Night – lasting from 18:00 up to 23:59.
All 4 phases have their own names: "Sole'e'Lume", "Stelle'a'Surge", "Stelle'a'Desce" and "Umbre'e'Voide". The Day being called "Lume".
The Night called "Umbre".
Exhausted from another long day filled with unending work, both Meteo and Rubi'i get to sleep at the same time – too early of a hour in Shokui's opinion – but he is not the one who calls the night - it being the Aki - and he doesn't mind to go sleep early for once – this week had been exhausting
The second the sky darkens, the second the Aether covers the sun, in minutes they clock out, laying together under the blankets – embraced - facing each other's forms, face to face – in their small family's hut, in bedroom.
But to be more specific, Rubi'i is the one that lacks the sense of private space, nuzzling to Meteo's neck while his right arm works as the pillow for her head – reminding Shokui of the time when he was yet a kid and slept in the same bed with grandma. Due to the height difference between them two, his left hand being laid around her waist, holding her weight close, hugging her back in his own particular way.
Ruby finally realizes how calming of an experience it is to fall asleep next to someone close, being embraced by a someone that's part of the family - hearing their heartbeat with own ear, pressing against their chest with own head to listen.
It took her everything to finally realize it, unfortunately needing to experience for the past few days the separation that made the void in her family – Void that will never be mend. Now however, everything is alright – She still has Meteo.
She nuzzles firmly to Meteo's figure, using whole force of her grip.
Shokui on the other hand, it had been decades since he was sleeping with any member of his family in one and the same bed.
And...
It feels nice.
The emptiness that he never realized existed, filled. All the stress melting away. He's getting drunk on this very experience.
Inside the head on the other hand, a different picture is painted. An unfortunate Clarity.
At first, he indeed laid with Rubi'i, but the second he falls asleep, he's immediately kicked into the mindscape's space.
Tiring mentally experience;
But he shrugs it off, eventually. He always can fall asleep here too, the same way Aki happened to do. But he already has plans to do, so as unfortunately as it is, it must wait for later.
He moves to some corner in silence. Dragging himself to do it. He materializes with thought full set – notebook in one hand, pen in other, starting to think on how the training schedule supposed to fit children's body and not break it.
Sure, there shouldn't be even any training at all, considering it always makes health issues for kid development, however, he experiences it constantly how sturdy horn hare flesh is – to the point of an "If" he were to out of nowhere to pilot it with no steer support as it is with Aki now, he feels that he would be walking sluggishly, as if walking under water that gives off a pressure of similar taste as 10 times gravity.
5 kg of body mass being experienced as if 50 kilos. Alright, that's quite exaggeration, Aki doesn't have the same muscle density as his father, which means that this said specie density is developed as the time passes. Hence why they eat so much. There is a need for a lot of energy.
Placing it into numerical value, he would have to say that Horn Hare's body has about 10 times denser musculature when adult, a skin that feels like some fiber made of rubber, fur that's as if moving your hand through glass fiber. Heat constantly being internally stored, not sweating, not because it's impossible, but simply there being no need. All heat being generated inside a body, trapped, recycled, resembling a small reactor. Creating a fusion that breaks apart into the Ether that's naturally of pyric element.
He has some ideas. For one, he saw Meteo's mother have some ability to regenerate the torn muscles tissue in a full wolverine style. He must find out how to do that by himself. Truly, he admires Meteo's parents for being so creative. They were specialists in their own understanding of fire.
But returning to the problem at hand,
Secondly, he's got to read that book about the anatomy of horn hares, that one that Rubi'i snatched from one of the people. He has idea to imbue muscles with the carbon fiber that his Migawari provides, allowing a much more resistance to damage.
Without knowing the anatomy he works with, he would just hurt himself, resulting in unvoluntary raptures while experimenting on his own.
This process now being skipped.
Lastly, as soon as it'll be possible, he has to learn to fully control those flames inside of this body, as well as to control its volume and density; - He wants to test whether he could change its state into plasma, and whether he could then control it still. If yes, that could also help with the workout routine.
However, the problem stays one and the same. Finding a routine of workout.
Sure, a running always sounds great for a beginning, but that's just too basic, there's got to be something more after; - like calesthetics and strength training for example. For example... climbing trees, rocks. He doesn't feel yet brave enough to climb the mountain so that's for later. Much later. Swimming is also viable, pulling rocks, pushing logs, he could even make out of those rocks some makeshift dumbbells.
With a bit of polishing the surface with his heated strings, it shouldn't be difficult to mold one into perfect spherical shape. But two problems come up to be - how will he judge weight of something and how will he find something heavier without increasing the amount and volume of the rocks needed.
He could for example piece together some bag, toss this weight there, and work with that, but it still doesn't fix the source of the problem – how he will judge the weight.
For one, Meteo's specie is extremely tough, learns fast, and is extremely cognisant.
Even though of young age, Rubi'i alone is as if talking to 6 years old already.
Weights like adult man's corpse? - slight effort. He already estimates that something like 50kg would feel like 5kg in their hands. Alright, that may be also a slight exaggeration – rather something like 15kg. After all bodies yet not fully developed, but he wouldn't let his hand to be cut off for that.
He ponders.
Oh right, he recalls that kilograms are measured by the volume of water. 1 kilogram is equal to 1 litre of water, and 1 litre of water is equal to 1 cubic decimetre.
The only problem now left - how much 10 centimetres would look like in comparison to this new body.
As he bites onto end of the pen, he recalls the height of Rubi'i. The differentiation between them two is about a head, which more or less means there is 20 centimetres in height difference, between them
If for example tomorrow, were he went to stand against the frame of the door and mark his height, then ask Rubi'i to do the same, get some plank, chip wood in those spots, then scratch off in the middle another mark - he would get a makeshift ruler that only measures by tens. He could then create a box, lid for it, fill it fully with water, he would then get exactly a kilogram.
It shouldn't be hard to create some makeshift balance scale too. Getting enough rocks of weight approximate to 1kg, chisel them to the exact mass, then repeat the procedure until he gets 10 rocks. Then, he would be able to find another rocks and match with those 10, he would get a 10-kilo weight. After which, placing those 11 and chiselling rock to match the sum of them all, he would get about 20-kilo rock.
He would get counterweights to measure mass of everything technically then, too. But it would be quite troublesome to use balance scale for everything.
Would he be able to do Mechanical Scale though? - he would need to get somehow springs, and that's the problem, he doesn't know how to make a spring. And even if he knew, he doesn't have tools to make one.
Troublesome.
Is there possibility he can do a fully gear scale? - he ponders
Actually, yes - he can create a balance type scale with counter pulley, by which if he pulls the lever knob around, the gears will move either left or right, rotating the dial with marked numbers.
He would need to get some metal, however. Considering this armour of those men that attacked them few days ago basically will rot and rust. It begs to be used.
He got to draw blueprints. Sigh. He massages his forehead.
"Take away internet and I am getting so bored to create scales" He notes, chuckling. "Since when I am this productive, huh?" Pauses to ponder "Is it because no one orders me around?" Asking himself. "Or is it because I feel like a father to them, hence the feeling of responsibility." He leans against the palm of his hand. Musing, "Nah, I always done whatever I felt like at the moment." Pausing, "Programming? - created scripts that shorten the amount of time to pressing buttons. Any knowledge? - learned in day, max two. Learned more then than in school, to be honest." Chuckling. Changing the topic completely to note. "Ah, it's so much more comfortable to make this pose, now that I am just a soul... or kid again... or whatever." Chuckles, saying in amusement - "At least I don't have to worry about my scoliosis ever again". Sighs in relief as he tosses the pen in air, playing, making it rotate on its own before it lands back again into his hand, repeating the movement over and over.
"Let's do it then." Pauses in contemplation, but also in due reason of having sight at the rotating in air pen, the short entertainment being a good type of break. He muses. "Let's fix the problem with the weights first, later on then start with the training" Shokui says.
Grabbing the pen back into his hand, he returns to scribbling in notebook and starts filling it with shapes of necessary gears for construction of more elaborated version of the initial ballans scale
Rack, with connected worm wheel that steers the movement of the dial installed right above - creating first meter - on which are chiselled scratches that measures the weight of the item which the heaviness is currently in question
Right next to it being secondary dial which role can be defined as measurement scale showing current position of the counterforce. The chiselled scratches on it showing the ballans. If positioned in centre it accurately shows the weight – pulling at the same time the lever installed to the rack of the first dial.
The pressure plate will pull the string that pulls lever of the second dial's rack which shows the current status of the ballans. Then the second side of the string is connected to the mechanism of the knob lever which control the spur gears intertwined - pulling the counterweight string.
This string being made from the Carbon fiber that he can create easily by just activating his Migawari
Sounds promising.
Seems like a good idea
But.
When to put into action.
It's too complicated of a construct, too easy to break if to measure too big of a weight, over all too unprofitable in long term.
And how did Shokui got into such realization? - He immediately gone into the construction process, manifesting gears, manifesting strings, manifesting plates, manifesting iron bars, manifesting levers, manifesting knobs. Everything. Experimenting, creating prototypes, changing designs until finally one would work.
Yes, one made fully out of gears and strings work, but the problem is that the machine would be too big on its own, so large to the point of Shokui thinking that it would be much easier to think already on how to make a spring.
The problem with springs though is that they depend on a thickness, and he doesn't have infinite amount of iron. The second problem is that if they are extended too much, they won't return to the initial state – it being so-called material fatigue.
The equation is "F" equals "k" times "x"; whereas the k is the density of the spring, a constant in this equation; and x being the distance of how the spring is compressed/stretched in comparison to its initial state.
Although, looking back.
Yeah, He overreacted.
He has quite a margin of error.
Ruby's fire is of a higher temperature than his, so he could ask her to make few rods of different thickness. He on the other hand would chisel a stick in a particular shape - a bar with one clean straight cut - hole - in one upper side – which would be used for placement of the singular iron rod – "A holder for bending metal".
Shokui doesn't exactly know how springs are made, but it shouldn't be that difficult of a process to bend iron rod into a shape of a string. Therefor the hole mechanism would be just minimalized into just pressure plate, lever, rack, spur gear with a connected dial to it.
Sure, it would need a calibration gear placed on the side, which would control the initial position of the pressure plate. But overall, it's much of a simpler design than the one he made of gears, strings, counterweights - overcomplified for something as simple as a weight scale.
Proceeding in construction of the second prototype, indeed, it works much better than the previous designs based fully on gears. Less bulky, more practical.
3 hours, 20 torn off pages worth of the notebook, laying everywhere around in a form of a squashed into balls; but finally - he has a working blueprint he can work with.
Throwing the pen into the void with the energy of a madman that never wants to hold nor see, a pen ever again in his life - he falls onto his back. Arms wide, outstretched, eyes shut – all systems offline - immediately shuts down, falling asleep in the middle of all papers, trash, blueprints, that had been just thrown away, not crashed; Around multiple construct prototypes left because he felt too bored to just disintegrate them.
"For anyone of relevance - This user is currently unavailable, please call later." announcing to himself jokingly before finally falling asleep the way that soul which possesses someone's body can. Joining the other 2 siblings in the sleep.

Sole'e'Lume - Andromdiam's 1'st phase of day, translates to "Sun Light". However, "Lume" on its own means "Day" or "Lightness", "Sol" also having second translation, which means either "Single" or "Singular"
Stelle'a'Surge - Andromdiam's 2'nd phase of day, that literal translation means "Planetary Rise", describing that Aether is moving from horizon into the sky's view
Stelle'a'Desce - Andromdiam's 3'rd phase of day, which translates literally to "Planetary Down", describing that the Aether is falling into horizon
Umbre'e'Voide - Andromdiam's 4'th phase of day, which translates to "Deep Dark", however, "Void'e" on its own means Space, and "Umbre" - "Night" or "Shadow"
