Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven, Dream

Alex was in a large house, with wooden walls surrounding him. While chairs were scattered around the room.

While in those chairs a whole group of kids ranging with ages sat around Alex. As they conversed with each other.

This was Alex's orphanage. The one he had grown up in since he was a little boy. While all the kids around him were his family.

Except Alex had a strange feeling impressing inside of him. As he then came to the realization that he was dreaming.

Alex was not truly with his friends from the orphanage. Instead Alex was jus dreaming of them, yet it felt too real.

This was because Alex was now lucid dreaming. Although he did not know how he was, as he had never done it before.

Yet Alex still wanted to converse and speak with his friends. As he did not care if they were real or not, he just missed them.

As Alex then searched for Will, yet he couldn't find him. Will wasn't in the room, as Alex quickly left it and searched the halls and dorms.

Alex checked the kitchen, main room, and even the dorms one by one. Yet he had still not found Will.

Alex then checked their dorm, the room Will and Alex slept together in. Yet he still wasn't there, as though he had been stripped away from Alex's memory.

Except this wasn't the case, as Alex was still able to recall everything about his friend. Yet he couldn't keep searching in the Orphanage.

Alex was going to have to extend his searches outside of the large house. As Alex desperately needed to see Will, even if it was just a dream.

He walked down the stairs and toward the main door of the orphanage. As Alex watched the kids play and chat around him.

Then he opened the door, trying to forget them and push on. Right as the door seeped open and the air flew through the scene changed.

As Alex was now in a tiny blue house, while inside were his parents. Alex watched as his younger self was picked up and carried by his mother.

This had brought Alex to tears, as Alex had barely any memories of his family. Alex quickly ran towards his parents.

Tears strung down Alex's face, as his cheeks and eyes grew red. Alex's face was crumpled up as he ran to his awaiting parents.

As Alex got closer to his parents they noticed him. They turned around and opened their arms, ready to embrace Alex.

Finally Alex was inches from his parents, Alex had many things he wanted to talk to his parents about.

Although he still knew it was a dream he was overjoyed. As he began to lose his arms around his parents.

Except his arms wrapped through the air, and went straight through his parents. Right before Alex his parents had turned into dust and floated away.

Alex crumbled to the ground, even though he had expected the outcome. He sat there thinking about the few memories he had with his parents.

Finally Alex overcame his immense sorrow and stood up as he walked to his house's door. He put his hand on the golden handle and twisted it before pulling it back.

Just like before when he opened the door his surroundings suddenly changed. Yet now Alex was surrounded by asphalt and houses.

Alex looked around him, as he noticed he was standing in the middle of a paved road. With sidewalks surrounding the dark black asphalt.

Although there was no sun in Alex's dream, instead a black void above him. He could still swear he could feel the heat on his body.

This scene was different from every scene before. As Alex had no memory of the place and yet he roamed it in his dream.

With replicas of the same house strung past the sidewalk. They flanked both sides of Alex as he continued to walk.

Although the houses were all the same in shape they were all different colors. Yet Alex paid no attention to his surroundings, instead continuing forward.

Then Alex reached a cross road. As the house flanking Alex split on both sides into another path.

As Alex now had the option to go to his left or right. Yet he instead chose to continue on his path forward, ignoring the other paths.

Alex had been wandering for a long amount of time. Passing more and more intersections, yet still ignoring them.

Then suddenly the unchanging dream had a noticeable difference to the houses. As a massive web was strung across one of the houses.

At first glance it just looked like a ginormous Halloween decoration. Except on closer inspection the web seemed to be made of real silk.

Alex was extremely shocked by his findings, as until now nothing was changing other than the colors of the houses and intersections.

Yet now Alex was suddenly facing an extremely large spider web. Overcome with a thought Alex continued forward.

As Alex continued walking forward he noticed more and more webs appearing. Before he had noticed only one web every hundred houses.

Except now Alex was noticing the webs every few houses. Alex obviously came to the conclusion that something was inhabiting his dream.

Alex had no idea how lucid dreaming works, or where he even was. Yet he also knew that they were on an unknown continent with magical creatures.

As one of them could've very well infiltrated Alex's mind. Although this was a terrifying thought Alex didn't have another idea.

Now that Alex had an idea of what could be happening curiosity took over him. Driven by his curiosity he continued forward.

The webs around him continued to grow in frequency. Until every house, and even the streets were covered by webs.

Then in the faint distance Alex noticed something the size of a house. Yet it was not on the sides of the street, instead directly in the middle of the street.

As he neared closer Alex began to walk slower and slower to the target. Then the view of the thing came into picture for Alex.

Once he saw it, cold sweat dripped from Alex's head. While a cold shiver was sent through his spine.

In Alex's vision an extremely large creature stood on eight thin legs, while the nonexistent light glinted off an exoskeleton.

There stood a towering Spider, yet like all creatures on the continent it had weird bumps protruding from it. Although it looked more controlled.

Alex immediately ran to a nearby house and hid behind it.

Alex could not face the terrifying monster without a plan.

As Alex started brainstorming ways he could defeat the vile beast. Yet its huge appearance caused Alex to fear their impending battle.

After a bit of visualization Alex was ready to fight the spider. As he summoned the lost katana. While the familiar wind funneled into Alex's palm the illusory screen of the system appeared.

On the screen it displayed words that discouraged Alex.

[Dream Spider has devoured Crystalized Banana]

Alex now knew that if he didn't defeat the spider it would keep feasting on his ruins. This put a new pressure on Alex, yet he was still prepared.

He then walked from behind the house to the street, as he walked to the spider. As he drew closer his heart pumped with adrenaline.

It was now Alex's time to fight, he didn't care if he won or lost. Yet he knew if he lost he'd most likely die, except he wasn't sure about anything in the dream.

Then the huge spider noticed Alex, as it scurried its legs around and turned towards Alex. Except what Alex had not perceived was the spider's legs.

The Thin legs of the spider were like edges of a sword, thinning to a fine point. The legs of the spider were the weapons the spider bore towards Alex.

Alex gripped his katana with both hands as he walked to the spider. The spider raised a singular leg and slashed it down towards Alex.

During the leg's path it suddenly changed directions, aiming for Alex's side instead of his head. The leg had moved in a crescent path.

Reacting to this attack Alex brought his katana to his side. As the two blades collided a sharp ringing sounded about.

While the immense force behind the leg of the spider had sent Alex flying. Although Alex had blocked the cut he had not absorbed the blow.

As Alex was sent flying through the air and landed in a bush in one of the house's yards. Alex got up quickly, yet immense pain was shot through his left shoulder.

Except Alex still marched towards the creature, while once again it rained its leg above its head swinging down towards Alex.

Yet this time it instead went straight down, while Alex took a slight step to his side. Narrowly avoiding the spider's attack.

The immense force behind the blow dug the spider's sharp leg into the ground. As the spider yanked at it, yet it stayed stuck.

Seeing the spider's sudden opening Alex went to the buried leg and climbed atop it. As he did this he swiftly ran to the head of the spider.

As he arrived atop the carapace of the monstrous spider he brought the sword above his head and swung down towards the spider's head.

Yet instead of slicing clean through the blade instead ricochet off the spider's tough exoskeleton. Alex became worried from this, not knowing what to do.

While Alex was thinking of a solution the spider began rapidly shaking its body, aiming its rampage towards Alex.

This intense shaking caused Alex to slip as he started to slide off the spider. While the shaking did not stop sending him further off the spider.

Alex fell through the air, but luckily landed on both feet and quickly rolled, dispersing the impact. As Alex started to get up he noticed two shiny things heading his way.

They were two of the spider's legs, hurling toward Alex. They were sent parallel to each other, and slightly above one another.

Alex had no simple way of dodging the attack. Leading Alex to drop to the ground. While the blades whizzed by him.

Alex quickly got up and continued to form a plan, as he then noticed the underbelly of the spider. This underbelly looked softer and less dense.

Alex now had the idea to get under the massive spider and try to pierce its underbelly. While Alex would have to wait for an appropriate opening.

Yet Alex was impatient and decided to force the opening. As Alex got extremely close to the arachnid.

This lured its attention as it sent an attack towards Alex. This was his opening, as Alex ducked under the swipe heading towards his head.

As he quickly ran to its underbelly. Once he got there he prepared all his might to jab up with all his strength.

While he was preparing his attack, caught in the motion of it, Alex did not see the jab from one of the spider's limbs.

As the spider used one of its hind legs to stab under itself. As Alex noticed this he was overwhelmed with immense fear.

He had reacted too late and the blade was too close for him to dodge or even react. The sharp leg drew closer as Alex saw his life flash before his eyes.

Then the sharp tip of the leg made contact with Alex.
