"Stop!" He immediately shouted as he walked towards the group while his friend ran off to fulfill his mission.
"Hmm...?"
The senior paused then looked at Kelechi's direction.
"Who are you?" He asked in an annoyed tone.
"I'm her friend and classmate." Kelechi said stepping forward till he was directly between the senior and Samantha.
"Get out my way!" The boy shouted angrily as he looked at Kelechi.
Kelechi was taller than boys of his age but even at that the senior was bigger.
"I won't,and I suggest that you and your friends go back because by now the teacher should be aware of what is happening here." Kelechi said calmly.
The boy and his friends immediately looked at the two teachers direction and saw a small boy talking to them.
"I won't repeat myself again. Get out of my way!" The boy shouted once more.
Student were already gathered round them and watching the action.
"Chike is better we go back and leave the matter." One of his friends said to him in a small tone.
"Yeah,Mr Harrison is already heading towards us with Mr Alex in tow." And of his friends chimed in looking equally worried.
"Your friend are right. It's best that we all stop here and not let this matter go any further." Kelechi said calmly still blocking the senior.
Hearing this the senior immediately felt played and angry, quickly losing all reason and lunged forward at Kelechi.
Kelechi was quite quick for his age but even at that he was caught off guard.
"Chike! Stop!" The guys friends shouted and immediately tried to separate the two.
The senior swung four times at Kelechi but he dodged only two and that was only because the initial two was when he was still in shock from the earlier tackle.
Before things could get any messier the other boys quickly separated the two and dragged the senior away from Kelechi.
Samantha and some of Kelechi's still available friends immediately went to help him up.
It was at that moment the the two teacher finally came with John-the student who called them earlier - panting behind them.
John immediately ran towards Kelechi and started checking his condition clearly worried.
"I'm okay everyone." Kelechi said trying to reduce their worry.
The two teachers immediately separated and one -Mr Alex- went towards Kelechi to check up on him and hear what happened and the other-Mr Harrison - walked towards the now trembling senior's group with unconcealed displeasure on his face.
Some minutes later the two teacher got the gist on what happened and took all known and identified parties to the headmaster's office.
The walk to the headmaster's office filled all the children with dread as they have heard rumors on how ruthless the headmaster was when it can to discipline.
"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry..." Samantha kept on apologizing to Kelechi in a low voice as they walked.
"It's nothing. I'm the one who put myself in this situation." Kelechi said with a small smile.
Samantha's eyes immediately brighten.
"Thank you." She said in an extremely small voice, looking down as they continued walking.
Kelechi just smiled.
Mr Amadi the headmaster is a tall,elder man with slightly graying hairs,a slim build and a stern face accompanied by sharp eyes covered by medicated glasses.
He wore white native senator clothes with brown shoes.
After hearing the entire story on the fight his dark face noticably hardened with visible displeasure and disapproval.
After a few scolding words by the headmaster he finally decided to call their parents.
None of the children present were happy especially the senior and his sister who looked visibly terrified.
"S-sir p-please I can accept any punishment but don't call my parents." Chike was crying now.
Mr Amadi mere spared him a brief glance before calling for their respective teachers.
It was only later that it was found out that the girl was in primary 3 and her brother was in primary 5 and took top it all off their father is a retired military personnel who's rank wasn't disclosed.
Kelechi, seeing the two people's distress almost felt pity but it was at that moment that his face hurt once more.
30 minutes to an hour later,the parents of the involved parties showed up.
Samantha's mother after hearing what happened with very angry and one could very well see where her daughter got her fierceness from.
The two other children's mother came and knowing what happened seriously apologized especially to Kelechi's mother who came.
The boy and his sister were made to apologize to both Samantha and Kelechi which they did but even after that they knew that their punishment wasn't over.
Luckily the hits done on Kelechi's face didn't break any just a slight bruise that left a slight mark on his cheek.
By the time everything was settled,it was already dismissal time and all related parties were sent home.
Back at the school's outer parking lot the mother of Samantha thanked Kelechi and offered him candy which he initially refused but after much presuasion relented.
She also thanked his mother and complimented her child upbringing methods and after a few more words from both mother and daughter waved them goodbye.
Later that evening chikodi came back home and heard what happened. He immediately rewarded his son for doing the right thing but also gave him advice, breaking it down as best as he could to a level a child of he age could easily understand.
Kelechi nodded in understanding and thus the family dinner proceeded in laughter and happiness.
