Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 - I did it out of adherence to my principles.

Two years ago, William had been working in a city outside the country, trying to earn some money. He sold sweets to passengers at the train station but sadly, not many people bought from him.

One day , feeling defeated , he sat on the ground and took a piece of chocolate from the cart filled with treats he sold. As he nibbled on it, Yuna stood nearby, waiting for the next train.

Just then, a sharp blow struck William from behind, sending him tumbling to the ground. He scrambled to his feet and turned to see two large men standing behind him—alongside a woman he recognized immediately.

William: "You! You're the woman who tried to buy my cart and I refused!"

The woman replied

"Yes, that was me."

William : " What do you want now ? I told you, it's a keepsake from my father's friend. I can't sell it to you."

"You could have sold it but you rudely refused."

The two towering men accompanying her stepped forward, overturned William's cart and began smashing and destroying all the sweets he had. William tried to stop them but they were far too strong.

No one around dared to intervene. They all knew this woman ( Shabanon ) the sister of the city's police officer. Calling the authorities would be useless and getting involved would be dangerous. The two men were known to be violent.

As they struck William again, a voice rang out:

"That's enough!"

They turned to see Yuna approaching them, visibly angry. She stepped between them and William.

Yuna: "That's enough. You have no right to hurt this boy."

Shabanon: "Why do you even care? Is he your boyfriend or something?"

"No but I can't stand by while someone is being hurt."

"How foolish. You'd risk yourself for a stranger? He's worthless anyway."

"I may not know him but every human life is more valuable than anything else."

"Don't you know who I am? I'm the sister of a city officer. This idiot refused to sell me his cart because of some stupid sentimental story. And his refusal means he gets punished."

"So you abuse your power to intimidate people? You think that's right?"

"Yes and I don't care what you think."

"This isn't about opinions. Right is right and wrong is wrong. No one has the right to use their influence to hurt others."

"Spare me your philosophy."

"This isn't philosophy—it's principle. People live and die by their values. You might get away with hurting him today but someone will come who treats you just like you treated him."

"Shut up, you annoying brat."

Shabanon turned to one of her men and said "Slap that girl."

The man walked up to Yuna, looked into her innocent face... and hesitated.

Shabanon: "What are you doing, you idiot?! Did you not hear me?!"

The man said "Ma'am, please... we've already destroyed the boy's things and hurt him. Let's just leave."

Furious, Shabanon pushed the man herself. "Useless. I'll do it myself."

She approached Yuna, hand raised to strike—

But then, a commanding voice rang out:

"Stop this madness!"

Everyone froze. An elderly man in a long coat stepped forward. His presence demanded respect—he was a town inspector from the neighboring city.

The inspector said

"As this young lady said, you have no right to abuse your ties to the police and oppress others "

Shabanon : "W-wait, sir... You misunderstood. We were just—"

"I misunderstood nothing. You and your men are under arrest for abuse of power and assault."

He pulled out handcuffs and restrained them one by one.

After they were taken away, the bystanders finally stepped in to help William. Among them was Yuna, who tended to his wounds. William stared at her in awe and asked everyone to leave so he could speak to her alone.

Yuna: "So? What is it you want to say?"

William: "I want to thank you."

"You should thank the inspector who stepped in—not me."

"But I do need to thank you too. You saved my life, miss. If I don't say it, I'd be ungrateful."

"Well... you're welcome."

"But I have to ask… why did you do it? Why risk yourself for someone you don't even know—and might never see again?"

"Do you want to see me again?"

"Yes. So I can repay your kindness."

Yuna smiled softly.

Yuna: "I don't do good deeds for rewards or with hopes of getting something in return. I don't even know if I'll be alive tomorrow—neither do you. I acted because I believe in my principles. That's all."

William fell silent, moved by her words. Just then, Yuna's phone rang. She glanced at it, eyes widening.

Yuna: "Oh no—I completely forgot . she is waiting for me!"

She turned to leave but William called after her.

William: "Hey, miss! At least tell me your name before you go."

Yuna: "It's Yuna."

"Nice to meet you, Miss Yuna."

That was the story William shared with the others.

William: "I never expected you had a twin."

Yuna: "Yeah, I do."

Tristan: "Wow, Yuna, you were so brave that day. You stood up to two thugs without flinching."

"Honestly, I could've taken them down and run if I wanted to. But that would've caused problems and besides—I wasn't scared. After all, I'm an heir to wonder stone."

Luna: "Good thing I wasn't in your place. I wouldn't have tolerated it. I would've just killed that bitch and those two men without a second thought."

"Yeah, you're not exactly the patient type."

"Exactly."

"But William, really, you didn't need to thank me so much. Those people didn't intend to kill you."

William: "Maybe not but that phrase you said... 'I don't do good deeds for rewards… I acted because of my principles.' That's stayed with me. So thank you again, Yuna, for teaching me that."

"You're welcome, William."

Tristan: "Hey guys, not to interrupt your touching moment but we should start teaching William the basics."

Luna: "Right. So, Will—what's your element and weapon?"

William: "I haven't managed to summon my weapon yet... but my element is fire."

"Nice. I'm a fire-element user too. I can train you a bit."

Yuna: "Are you sure you're a good teacher?"

"Nope."

"Let's not risk the poor guy. Maybe we should ask Clara to help."

"Relax. Clara and I will handle it."

Luna looked at William and said

"Come on, I'll teach you how to control your fire powers. Maybe we'll even awaken your weapon."

William: "Alright."

Luna and William left to begin his training. Tristan watched them from a distance while Yuna returned to her room for a bit of rest.

Meanwhile, Jayden had been observing Rossi, who had returned home safely—no threats so far.

Jayden then walked to a secluded area where Chris and Merrick awaited him. He had already told Chris about his past life in a gang and a few other details—Chris was sharp and could help him.

After greeting eachother they directly got to the point.

Merrick: "How's your friend Rossi? Is he okay?"

Jayden : " Yeah, he's fine... for now "

Chris : " Good. Now, let's get to it "

" Did you find anything? "

" I've got some theories. Jayden, you said you killed the traitors who tried to assassinate you, right? And afterward, one of your subordinates moved to another area?"

"Yes. He had a car and after he left, we were short one vehicle. I had to look for a replacement."

"Didn't you find that suspicious? Him moving right after the traitors were executed?"

"To be honest, he'd already planned to move before that."

"Still... I suspect he's the one colluding with the Fauvism . Do you remember who he was?"

"Not really. It's been a long time. I didn't even know the traitors myself. The scouting division uncovered them and confirmed they were planning to kill me. So I just... executed them."

Merrick : "That's pretty cold."

"A leader must be ruthless when necessary."

Chris: "Anyway, try to find out more about that guy I mentioned."

"I will do."

As they spoke, Chris suddenly clutched the back of his neck and screamed in pain.

Jayden: "Chris?! What's wrong?"

Chris dropped to his knees, still crying out. Jayden and Merrick rushed to him. Merrick placed a hand on his shoulder.

Merrick: "What's happening?!"

Chris (in a strange tone): "You… are not… my… mo—ther..."

Both men stared, confused—then without warning, Chris drew his weapon and slashed at Merrick.

Jayden pulled Merrick away just in time but not fast enough—Merrick was cut across the chest.

They backed away, watching Chris with horror. His eyes were wild, full of fury... a dangerous spark gleaming in them.

As if he were preparing for war.
