[CAIUS POV]
My eyes darkened at his disrespectful words, but since time was of the essence, I decided I would be the bigger person and let him off today.
I whirled around and pulled aside the curtain, only to accidentally walk straight into Yvette, who was still waiting for a reply.
"Caius!" Yvette cried out, with tears in her eyes. "Is what I've been hearing true? Was Iris really the person responsible for beating Martin so badly that he had to undergo surgery?"
I grabbed her and dragged her further away from the cordoned-off area. Healer Felix had made his dislike of Yvette crystal clear, and I wasn't going to risk offending him or distracting him when he held two lives in his hands.
Once we were outside the infirmary, outside of Healer Felix's earshot, I asked about Martin's condition.
"He had to undergo surgery? How was it?"
Yvette nodded quickly, her head bobbing anxiously up and down. Her face was wet with tears.
