It started with a ping.
A single red dot flickering on her minimap.
Not a quest marker.
Not an NPC.
Not an error.
"Huh?" She purred, tilting her head.
"A random encounter… is this part of the new expansion?"
She zoomed in on her mini map.
The figure was sprinting through the Deserted Plains, a flat, desolate landscape where broken code from what she saw formed ruined buildings, null trees, and jagged rocks. The model flickered. They were real. Human.
"Not an NPC?"
"Oooooh~!"
"A player-character? How rare!"
"I'm the best at PvP~!"
Her twin tails lit up with excitement. Pink line etched across the sky, locking onto the fleeing dot.

She teleported once.
Twice.
Three times.
Zip.
Zip.
Zip.
[Teleport on Cooldown]
The world blurred. Skyboxes flickered.
She appeared in front of him, hovering midair then she landed doing a classic anime landing pose. Her death bunny plush blade squeaked as it hit the ground.
The man tripped looking at the ruined house he thought would be a safe haven.
Worn scavenged gear. Torn armor. Probably an old beta tester that got stuck. His face full of panic, hand shaking around a basic iron sword.
She stepped forward.
"S… Stay back!" He shouted. "I… I don't want to fight!"
She blinked.
The HUD above her head read:

[Worldeater - Glitched Player Entity] Lv. ??? - Invincible - Insane - Cute]
"Fight?" She echoed. "Silly. This isn't a fight."
Her idle battle stance started.
"This is PVP ya goof."
She slashed.
He dodged, barely.
"Impressive~" she giggled, now floating and glitching.
"You must have upgraded Agility! This has to be a pvp quest. I am the super secret boss! Are you gonna cry if I break your leaderboard stat?"
He lunged.
She backflipped in mid air with inhuman smoothness, frame-perfect.
"You're fun~! Not good, but fun!"
He slashed again. This time, his blade scraped her cheek.
It didn't cut her skin. It cut her code.
For one brief moment, her name flickered. It read.

Her left eye twitched. Glitching red.
"…stop, run away, please run."
Then she grinned again. The flicker vanished.
"Nyaa~ good try hacker!" Pink sparkles puffed out.
She slashed once…
The man dropped his sword. Staggered back. Looked down.
His torso glitched in half.
He didn't bleed; he decompiled.
He fell to his knees, sobbing, voice stuttering like a corrupted file:
"You're not real… this isn't real…"
She crouched beside him. Patted his head.
"Correct! Ten points! This world isn't real!"
She stood.
"That's why I'll send you back to spawn."
Her face twisted. Nothing but malice could be seen on her face.
"Thanks for playing!" Then she typed:
"/kill Player_45719."
She swung her bunny plush sword.
The man vanished.
She stood alone again.

Description: "A memory of someone who tried to matter."
She didn't equip it. She tossed it.
"So much lag today," she mumbled, stretching.
"Maybe I'll uninstall the town next." Her ears twitched.
Ping.
Another dot.
Two.
No three.
"Oh?"
"More players?"
She smiled, cracked her neck, and zipped toward the ping.
"Game on."
