The closer she gets to Caspian and Nightalin, the walls come down, and the safeties she had are crumbling faster than she realized. Soon enough, she had broken through Seraphiel's defenses, which no one expected. Mayllen had also gotten closer to her, seeing her become more fragile. What was majorly unexpected is that she was alone with seraphiel and she slips around him, listening to him come up with war strategies as Caspian was out in the field doing servaliance. She looks over to Seraphiel, and something in him turns from focused to worried in a matter of seconds. He's holding her close to him, whispering that it will all be okay, you're safe, you have nothing to worry about, daddy is here to protect you. he says it so naturally, he doesn't catch what he's said until Clarissa repeats it back to him in confusion.
She looks at him, confused as if shes trying to figure out if he actually means that before her eyes go glassy over, and she muffles cries into his shoulder as if to not let him know shes little and scared that he won't accept her. The girls and Caspian run in sensing something is wrong in their bond. They all look to see Clarissa in his arms as if she were a child clinging to a parent. They all carefully walk over caspian trying to get a look at Clarissa's face, but she won't allow it, clinging tighter to seraphiel him feeling this says hey sweetie its okay. He just wants to check on you; they all do. You're gonna be a good girl and let them check on you.
Clarissa looks up at Caspian like a child would look up to a parent, trying not to cry. Caspian sees the look in her eyes and goes hi there, baby girl its okay, you're safe, we are here to protect you, not harm you. she immediately does grabby hands to him ser hands her over carefully, not wanting to let her go. Caspian holds her close to him and rocks her side to side softly, seeing her get excited, she unexpectedly calls him baba, carefully clapping her hands. In shock, he almost drops her before he can nightalin and mayllen rush over to catch her as he stabilizes himself, looking at her, then at seraphim, then at the girls as nightalin is sitting on the floor cradling clarissa and mayllen is holding her bottom half. realization hits him like a freight train, she sees them as her parents, he runs off to the archives to see if there's any record of her having any family members. Come to find out, they sold her off to be a maid in their kingdom, not realizing they sold her to her mates.
While Caspian is in the archives, she starts calling Nightalin mama and Mayllen ima. Both women are in shock as Clarissa says this with complete excitement and oblivion to her surroundings. When Clarissa finally comes back to reality, she starts running faster than anything, running right into Caspain whos standing there in shock as shes trying to run away. He grabs her by the waist and pulls her into a hug, saying shes safe. Clarissa immediately loses it, crying again, saying sorry for being little and for being a burden. He just kisses the top of her head and says nothing bad shall happen to you ever again.
