Chapter 6: The Warmth of FamilySummary:More family reactions
Notes:(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text"Hello?" A clear and crisp voice comes through, the voice of comfort to Enid. She let herself take a deep breath in, shoulders relaxing. Despite his impersonal greeting, Enid knew he had read the caller ID.
"Jackson, I need help", Enid said, forcing her voice to be steady.
"You know I've always got your back, lil' sis", he answers. Enid can literally imagine him standing there, on the phone, probably in the garage holding a wrench, having stopped in the middle of tinkering with his car just to answer her.
Of course he was telling the truth. He had always helped her. Except, this story was so crazy Enid can't help but wonder if it's above the unconditional acceptance he has shown so far. Nonetheless, she knows she has to continue with her idea. "My fiancee invited me to her house for the weekend, and I need a forged note that looks like it's from our parents so the school will let me go."
"Wow you're meeting the parents already? When do I get to meet this girl and threaten her with my older brother skills?" Jackson laughed, his answer lighthearted in a way that made Enid's heart wrench.
"They told you didn't they?" she asks softly, trying to hold back her tears.
"Yeah. We're not supposed to talk to you at all since they disowned you." His voice came out somber, but calm. It broke Enid, the floodgates opening. If their parents ever found out he would be punished. Sure, Jackson was the oldest, and the model child of what a werewolf should be. That didn't mean he was immune to the crazy antics of their mother.
"How can you be so calm?" she sobbed into the phone with a hiccup, sniffling as she wiped her face with the back of her hand.
"Enid, we love you no matter what they say. All of us. Every single one of your brothers." The idea that her brothers who would purposely run into the house and hug her when they were covered in mud, knowing that even as a kid she valued her clothes (unlike most werewolves), was hard to wrap her mind around. Yet, she found herself believing it, whether it was because Jackson was the one saying it or maybe because she secretly wanted to believe it too.
Her dive into memory lane was interrupted by Jackson. "Look I should get going. I personally can't forge anything, you know my handwriting is horrible. But if you're okay with Alex knowing, I'll get him to make a note."
"Alright. I trust you." Enid replied.
"Okay. I love you. And Enid? Wait for us to contact you. If one of us get caught with you calling us on our phones we'll be screwed", Jackson warned before hanging up, not giving her a chance to reply. Something in Enid's heart felt sour but she couldn't pin point it.
Out of nowhere, a familiar cold voice asked, "Who was that and why are they making you cry?"
"Wednesday!" Enid squeaked in surprise as she whipped around to see the girl in question melt out of the shadows with a machete in hand. Her eyes were absolutely murderous. It was hot.
Still, Enid did not want her brother being chopped to pieces. "It was just my brother! He was congratulating me and joking about threatening you to treat me right like most brothers do."
Wednesday blinked several times before lowering her arm, still not letting go of the machete. "Well, I suppose I do enjoy being threatened. I hope he brings something sharp. It would be disappointing if he did not."
Enid had no idea how to answer, so she deflected with a question lurking in her brain. "Uhh…Wednesday why were you hiding in the shadows?"
"You're the one who called me your moon. I'm just emerging from the darkness like the moon does on a cloudy night turning clear."
"That… was oddly poetic." Enid bit back the word romantic. Wednesday would have a knife at her throat faster than she could blink. As alluring as that sounded, Enid also wanted to live to hear Wednesday's odd flirts again.
"You underestimate the time I have put into my writing", Wednesday replies, with a roll of her eyes, before climbing through the window as if nothing had happened.
Then it dawned on Enid. She had never called Wednesday "my moon" in English. Which meant…
"Wednesday Addams! You come back here! When did you learn Greek?!"

Practically bouncing out of the car, Enid leapt towards the Addams mansion. She had been looking forward to this all week. Thing was excitedly perched on her shoulder as she did so, it had been adamant that it should show Enid all the exciting things in the house.
Meanwhile, Wednesday trailed behind with a vacant expression.
"My little scorpion!" came a cry as they entered into the foyer. With an expert side step, Wednesday avoids Gomez's heartfelt hug, sending him tumbling out the door.
Enid gasped, running to the door to see his fate, only to see a perfectly fine Gomez bouncing back up the steps with a grin.
"Don't worry, he's fine", said Wednesday's voice, suddenly right next to Enid's ear, causing her to jump a little. Usually, Enid was able to pick up Wednesday's scent before she got within five feet of her (and that was when Enid's nose was stuck), but here the entire house smelled kind of like Wednesday, confusing Enid's sense of smell completely. Or maybe Wednesday was just that much creepier when she was in her own territory. Either way, it had Enid's heart ever the more excited to know more about Wednesday.
"Oh Wednesday my dear", the melodious sound of Morticia Addams's voice floats down the stairs from where she is perched on the landing, hand gracefully placed upon the railing.
In reply, Wednesday whips around with a scowl. "Don't 'Wednesday' me, you still have yet to apologize for what you did." It should've been her and Enid's choice when they promised to torture each other till the end of time.
"Now, my dear, why would I apologize for getting myself such a wonderful soon to be daughter-in-law?" Morticia continued to float down the stairs elegantly.
"You have no remorse", Wednesday spat out as Gomez finally made it back through the doors, now absolutely enamored with the way that Morticia was walking down the stairs. To him, even the way she walked was an absolute work of art. He hurried forward and offered his hand to help Morticia down the last few steps.
Morticia laughed emptily as she took his hand. "Oh, Wednesday. You say that as if any Addams has remorse in our dictionaries."
Hating to admit it, Wednesday loathed the word remorse. She had grown up being too cold and cunning for such a soft emotion. So, grinding her teeth together, she said nothing and simply stewed. Wednesday would get them to apologize some day. It was now her goal, and Wednesday Addams just did not give up.
Morticia waved her hand towards the dining room. "Come, we have prepared a meal for your arrival." Then she swished off, looping her arm into Gomez's. Lurch grunted as he carried the suitcases past them and up the staircase.
"Oh boy, food!" Uncle Fester said in glee as he clapped his hands and hurried past them.
That left Enid and Wednesday. The latter turned her head toward Enid, making sure she was okay. While Wednesday usually enjoyed the absolute terror and confusion on outsider's faces, she wanted to make sure Enid wasn't so scared that she would run away screaming into the cemetery. Entering those grounds without a guide would not bode well for Enid's sanity.
Frozen in place, Enid doesn't react for the first few moments. Thing waves its fingers in front of her face, but she just continues to stare blankly off into the distance.
"Enid…?" Wednesday says cautiously, moving half a step closer. That's when Enid's eyes snapped to attention, a grin plastering itself on her face. Her blue eyes shined in a gross amount of joy. Wednesday hated it, but simultaneously loved feeling that hate.
"Oh my god she just called me her daughter-in-law!" Enid squealed.
"Why is that what you focused on?" Wednesday scoffed with a scowl, stalking off after her family. Leave it to Enid to be excited about being accepted into the Addam's family. Wednesday had expected absolute horror, screaming, crying, any of the above. The fact that she didn't irked Wednesday in a delightfully nagging way.
"How could I not? Your mom is acknowledging me!" Enid replied as if it as obvious as she skipped after Wednesday.
As they entered the elaborate, dark dining room, draped in black, dark browns and reds, Wednesday grumbled, "Mother, I place the blame on you. Enid is so ecstatic it is as if you just declared her your favorite child."
Morticia blinked, one, twice, and then laughed as if it was a completely absurd question. "Why, of course Enid is my favorite child." With that, Enid lost it, bursting into tears and running over to hug a stunned Morticia. After a few seconds of pure surprise, Morticia lifts her hand to pat Enid's head comfortingly.
"Mother, that is not how it works", Wednesday reprimanded with a scowl, now crossing her arms. Inwardly, Wednesday's mind was racing. There had to be a reason why Enid was crying. Sure, her parents treated her badly, and acceptance was something Enid had always craved, but Enid was not one to cry. She met everything with a fierce smile that daunted even Wednesday's often unimpressed self. Something had happened, and Enid wasn't telling her. Wednesday had to applaud Enid for being able to keep it from her. After all, Wednesday prided herself in being deathly observant, like a shadow that followed somebody around every second of every minute.
Lurch lumbers in, cocking his head and letting out a groan of confusion at the scene unfolding at the table.
"Oh Lurch, apparently when somebody asks who your favorite child is you're supposed to choose out of only your own children", Morticia explained without even pausing her hand above Enid's head.
It chilled Wednesday the way Enid accepted Morticia's love as much as Wednesday rejected it.
In the end, Enid did not touch the steak prepared for her at all, clinging to Morticia like a koala even as Morticia got up gracefully to glide out of the room as she always did.
Wednesday let them go with a sigh, and did not come storming down to pry Enid away from Morticia out of something that was most definitely not jealousy, until 45 minutes had passed.
Notes:Soooo i planned on updating earlier but then after the surgery i got sick, and today AO3 was down. I hope this goes up without a hitch because i tried uploading earlier and it didn't work
Chapter 7: The Weight Creasing My SheetsSummary:Wednesday confronts Enid about how she's been acting.
Notes:(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter TextHaving finally pried Enid off of Morticia, Wednesday dragged Enid through the halls as the werewolf sniffled behind her. Wednesday felt like livewire the entire time, entirely too aware of how her hand was grasping Enid's. Holding hands was such a loathsome thing, but the electricity that crackled through her arm and to her body when it was Enid's hand excited Wednesday like a good electrocution.
Reaching her room, Wednesday sits Enid down on her crisp all black sheets that covered her elegant bed before closing the door and locking it. As she looked back at Enid from the door, Wednesday realizes that even the way Enid's weight creased the sheets just so, did not bother her. No, it made Wednesday want to memorize the scene, how each crease molded to Enid's shape and size.
Her gaze traveled up to Enid still sniffling, looking back at Wednesday with red eyes. "Sorry, Wednesday."
"What do you have to apologize for?" Wednesday raises a brow as if challenging Enid to give a reason that she would deem acceptable.
"For clinging to your Mom like that, everyone in your family must think I'm so weird now"
Wednesday snorts. "I question if you have ever met an Addams. We can be described as deadly, morbid, macabre, you name it. If you were any sort of normal I would never have been irked by you."
"Oh what would I do without your romantic words?" Enid replied, attempting to smile that is about as sincere as Wednesday saying she has no murderous intentions.
Wednesday clenches and unclenches her fist. For the first time in her life she has a feeling that she cannot approach this with her head in control like she has all her life. Normally she would storm over and demand something of Enid as a way to resolve their issues, since it was usually the fault of Enid's irritating music or garish colors.
Slowly she walks forward until she towers over Enid, gritting her teeth, and gathering the courage to do what she was going to do next.
The way Wednesday's eyes flashed with deliberate intent made Enid gasp, her eyes widening with surprise and fear at what was to come. Wednesday looked almost murderous. Was this the end? Enid's thoughts raced, overthinking what Wednesday could possibly be doing, after locking the door? By the way Wednesday's mouth was turned downwards, this definitely was not about to turn into a make out session (however much Enid wished it would). Maiming, killing, or painful torture flashed through her head as possibilities as Wednesday started leaning in. Enid held her breath and snapped her eyes closed.
To her surprise, fingertips softly pushed her chin up. She could feel Wednesday's breath on her lips as she commanded, "Look at me." Enid gulped as she slowly opened her eyes, worried she would see a machete near her neck.
Instead she saw worry. Pure, unadulterated worry. Her eyes flew wide open in surprise. This was something Enid had never seen on Wednesday. Usually when something happened to Enid Wednesday either looked murderous or immensely uncomfortable. Enid had gotten used to these responses.
"What is bothering you?" Wednesday whispered out. There was no need to be any louder with how close they were.
Enid turned her head to the side, murmuring, "Nothing." She couldn't tell Wednesday. While Wednesday wasn't soft enough to do something stupid like giving up on what they had just for Enid to remain in touch with her family, she was most definitely crazy enough to do something that would get her imprisoned for a lifetime.
Hand slipping up to cup Enid's face, Wednesday gently guides her back until they are looking in each other's eyes again. "You're a terrible liar." Enid couldn't breathe. Wednesday's hand was so soft, her touch cold in a terribly comforting way as if icing a bruise. The genuine look that rested within Wednesdsay's pitch dark eyes echoed in Enid's heart.
Her hand went up to cover Wednesday's hand, only to stop right before contact. This was dangerous territory. Touching Wednesday back might be crossing the line. Instead Enid lets her hand drop, Wednesday's eyes following her hand as it does. If Enid sees a twinge disappointment that disappears faster than she can blink, Enid blames it on her own delusional, love sick mind. "My parents disowned me. I was banished from the pack for being with a human."
Wednesday took an audible breath in through her nose as she pulled back, face hardening in anger. With a bated breath Enid prepares herself for the murderous threats that were to come.
Then there was a loud thud, causing both of their eyes to snap up to the window where a bald and black hair covered head could be seen retreating. Wednesday stalked over to the window, yanking it open. "Pugsley and Uncle Fester, how dare you get caught! You two are better at stalking than this! It interrupted my wonderful thoughts about torture!"
With a sigh, Enid just leans back and observes the room. Of course, Wednesday didn't have a single qualm about their moment interrupted. It was the charms of Wednesday Addams, and as much as regular affection intrigued Enid, she also knew that this was Wednesday's way of showing she cared. It was unique, irritating, and it worked even if it shouldn't.
Enid notices her suitcase situated in the corner, offensively pink against the back and gray of the room.
When Wednesday turns around Enid gives a small smile and wave. "Howdy. Are we going to be roomies here too?"
Wednesday blinked owlishly. "Yes. Why would you sleep anywhere else?" Apparently it hadn't occurred to Wednesday at all to give Enid another room.
Cheeks heating up at the implication of sleeping in the same bed as Wednesday, Enid points out, "Uhh… Wednesday, there's only one bed?"
Wednesday nods, "Yes, after all it is my room and I do not have two bodies that need rest." Skipping over the thoughts that went wild wondering if Wednesday meant to imply she had other bodies that did not require rest, Enid tried to still her racing heart and mind. This wasn't something unusual. She was just sleeping in the same bed as her fiancée. The fiancée that she had just held her hand voluntarily for the first time heading up here, nevermind kisses and I love you's.
-0-
Never, had Enid ever felt stiffer than that first night. She tried desperately to focus on her excitement at Uncle Fester's promise to teach her some fencing tricks tomorrow, but instead her mind stuck to the way the bed dipped next to her. Enid felt like fireworks waiting to be set off.
She waited and waited for a touch, even a movement that indicated Wednesday had moved a tad closer, but it never happened. Slowly, her heartbeat stopped pounding her ear. Daring to glance over, Enid saw Wednesday with her arms crossed over her chest, silent and still as a corpse. Of course Wednesday had fallen asleep the first night they shared a bed. It was just like Wednesday to completely miss the implications and how anxious Enid had been.
Yet, it was so unlike Wednesday to miss even a small detail. It was even more unlike Wednesday to just fall asleep out of nowhere. No, Wednesday was the master of going to sleep as late as possible and waking up as early as possible.
Turning from her back onto her side, Enid reaches out, slowly shuffling closer to test the waters. No reaction. Wednesday remains as still as a dead body in her coffin ready sleeping pose.
Hesitating, Enid mulls over her next action in her mind. Was this Wednesday's version of consent? There was only one way to know. If Wednesday was truly asleep, she would likely jolt awake and have a knife at Enid's throat the second Enid touched her. A bed just did not lull Wednesday into deep sleep the way coffins did. So Enid lifted her head, tilting herself a little so that her head rested on Wednesday's shoulder.
"I know you're not asleep." Then Enid slowly closed her eyes, exhaustion from the excitement of the day taking over.
It is several minutes later that Wednesday's eyes slowly open and roll downward to watch Enid resting on her shoulder. Through all this she does not move her body in the slightest. Her heart however, is engulfed in a roaring flame of affection.
Satisfied that her plan had worked, Wednesday let her eyes slide closed. The truth was, Wednesday hadn't known what to do when Enid had looked so anxious at the thought of them in the same bed. There was no way she was going to admit to her family that she had miscalculated and that Enid needed a separate room. Wednesday would've never heard the end of it from Gomez and Morticia. Instead, Wednesday passed the baton of control to Enid. Although Wednesday would never admit it aloud, if this was the result when Enid was in control, Wednesday wouldn't mind if she was in control more.
What didn't go according to her plan however, was how well she would sleep. Awaking to knocking, Wednesday sat ramrod straight. That's when she looked left and right, realizing that it had been too easy to sit up. The door creaked open to reveal Enid, holding a tray of pancakes, walking forward to sit on the side of Wednesday's bed. Wednesday had always grimaced at the way the morning light was so warm and inviting, but as it showered Enid and her easy smile, Wednesday realized Enid was absolutely radiant in such lighting.
"How are you doing, my sleepy horror?" Enid asked as she cut a piece of the pancake and held it out for Wednesday.
Silently, Wednesday accepts the food, blush rising up her face as she does so. In self defense, Wednesday's reaction to her embarrassment is to scoff, "Sufficiently cold now that you're no longer warming up the bed."
Instead of hurt, Enid just grins so bright that Wednesday's eyes go wide in surprise. "I thought you enjoyed burning hot things." Her eyes and smirk are suggestive as she dips her finger in the maple syrup pooling on the side of the plate and puts it in her mouth in a way that makes Wednesday unable to breathe, as if she had hung herself with a noose. It felt amazing. Enid doesn't mention the way Wednesday was blushing, or the way Wednesday had allowed Enid to cuddle up to her.
"Yes… I suppose I do."

It is as Uncle Fester is coaching Enid and Pugsley on the nuances of fencing up and down stairways (obviously much different from even ground) the next morning, Wednesday slips away into Gomez's study where he was kissing his way up Morticia's arm. Without even sparing them an eye roll, Wednesday demands, "I need help."
Notes:I have an announcement! Next chapter will be the next chapter, as I think this is as far as the plot really needs to go.
There will be an epilogue after the last chapter for fun.
Unfortunately this fanfic will not involve Enid's parents.
Chapter 8: What Words Won't Describe (WWWD)Summary:The End.
Notes:I imagine Wednesday's dress to be like the one she wore in the awkward dance with her cousin Lumpy Addams in Addams Family Values
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter TextEnid looked ready to crawl into a dark hole somewhere in fear, when Morticia suggested holding an impromptu engagement party for Wednesday and Enid with the entire extended Addams family in attendance.
For Wednesday's part of the act, she rested her chin in her palm with a bored expression as she played with the steak knife with the point pivoted on the table and a single finger on the rounded part of the handle.
"Are you sure? I mean I'm not… really like an Addams", Enid replies, cautiously. Despite her reluctance, Wednesday can hear the hope blooming in her voice.
"Nonsense, you'll fit right in," Gomez replied.
"And if anybody dares to say otherwise…", Wednesday interrupts, showing a toothy, murderous, glinting grin as she takes the knife and stabs it straight into the table so hard that the knife bends.
"I love when you talk like that", Enid murmurs, her eyes practically turning into hearts. It scared Wednesday the pure amount of love that Enid simply radiated. Perhaps too much. Wednesday didn't want Enid to give up everything for love.
Except, it was so hard to voice that, to say that she cared about Enid too much to let her do that. "I hate when you talk like that", Wednesday stood up, looming over Enid.
Enid stood herself, making herself as tall as possible, looming over Wednesday as much as she could. "You love me." Her grin was wolfish, almost chilling.
Wednesday's heart was in her throat at this point. Enid took Wednesday's breath away in the most deadly of ways, but she would rather live forever (such a unenjoyable idea, Wednesday looked forward to death) than be caught admitting she loved such a fluffy werewolf. So instead, Wednesday simply turned on her heel and marched away, Enid skipping after her like a loyal puppy.
-0-
If somebody had asked Enid what she felt when Wednesday had shown up at her door the evening of their engagement party Enid would answer that she was fairly certain she had certainly died, because there was no way that Enid would've ever seen Wednesday look so beautiful and threatening at the same time when she was alive.
Raising a brow at her reaction, Wednesday holds out a hand. Following her instincts, Enid leaps forward instead to loop her arm around Wednesday's other arm, brushing against the no frills dress that Wednesday wore. In fact, it reminded Enid of Morticia's normal attire with the way it fit her form. It was simple, yet fit Wednesday so well in a chilling fashion. Enid's dress was the entire opposite, frills of the dress squishing against Wednesday as Enid leans closer.
Giving a reluctant seeming sigh, Wednesday asks, "Ready?"
Enid knows better than to take Wednesday's tone negatively. If Wednesday truly found her a bother she would've cut off Enid's limbs already. The fact that Wednesday had asked if Enid was ready meant that she didn't just have a soft spot for Enid, but truly cared about Enid's feelings about this whole ordeal. While it may seem like Enid was forced into this, she was also excited about the prospect of officially being accepted into the Addams family.
Taking her silent thinking as a no, Wednesday turns her head a little so that they are much less than a breadth away from each other. "Normally you shouldn't, but for tonight I must ask that you trust me."
Laughing at that, Enid shakes her head. "Too late. I've been trusting you all along and I'm not going to stop anytime soon." She watches as Wednesday's lips give the smallest twitch, and knows that Wednesday is moved and amused by her words.
With that, they head down the hall to the stairs. By the time they make it to the doors of the ballroom, Enid's heart is pounding in her ears. They stand there for such a long moment that Enid almost says something. Then the doors fall open. Enid's jaw drops.
Squealing in happiness, Enid untangles her arm from Wednesday's and tackles Yoko and Divina in a bear hug. "What are you all doing here?!!?" They all fall to the ground with a yelp, the rest of the Addams family looking on silently simply stepping backward with grace as if people falling over was the most normal occurrence in the world. Then again, if it was the Addams family, it was very likely that bodies hitting the ground was a normal every day thing.
Ajax is the first to step forward when the three of them get up, dusting off their outfits. Eugene was still fiddling with his glass, Bianca pretending to look uninterested, and the rest of them looking unsure what to say while surrounded by so many dark colors. "We're here to support you and Wednesday of course." He gave a big smile and held out his arms. Matching his grin, Enid ran into his arms.
"You're not mad at me for breaking up with you?" Enid pulls away and looks up at him.
Ajax chuckles, "Nahhh, we're better off as friends anyway. Your claws were probably our first clue. Plus, you Wednesday are cute together." Something lifts off of Enid's shoulders. The way they had separated had left a sour taste in her mouth. Being on bad terms with somebody just didn't sit well with Enid, especially somebody as kind as Ajax.
Wednesday's eyes flashed. "What did you call us?" Understanding Enid's penchant for hugging, Wednesday had snubbed out her jealousy with a heavy hand at Ajax and Enid's hug. However, she would not stand for being called cute in any sort of way.
Eyes going wide, Ajax put his hands up. "Hey you have to admit it. You and Enid are good together."
The wording was a bit off, but his fear made up for it. "I think the proper words are 'like the sun and moon, a morbid tango of electrifying feelings', but I will spare your life this time."
Stopping herself from fainting, Enid puts down her foot. Her love for Wednesday did not mean she had to be lenient. "No, Wednesday you will spare his life always, because he's my friend and you're not allowed to kill my friends. Even if you make me swoon with the romance of your words."
A frown turned Wednesday's lips but she didn't say a single word in argument. By Wednesday's reaction Enid could gauge that Wednesday approved and maybe even respected her push back despite not necessarily agreeing with her methods regarding friendship.
Resounding from the middle of the room, a clap from the middle of the room pulls every pair of eyes and ears towards Gomez and Morticia, brilliant in their ballroom attire even with Wednesday and Enid being the stars of that night's event. "Let's get this started shall we?"
Gomez signals to the band with a snap of his fingers, music swelling to fill the space. Chattering rose from the Addamses as the mood started to change.

Sighing, Enid leaned her head in her hands as she looked over the cemetery. She didn't even bother to turn around when there was a knock on the door frame.
"What are you doing up here?" Wednesday's flat toned voice carried through the night air as she stepped onto the balcony and let the doors fall closed behind her.
"Just… catching some fresh air. There was too many people." Enid replied, fumbling to make up a reason. Wanting to appreciate what Wednesday was obviously doing for her benefit, but also uncomfortable just how un-Wednesday these actions were was, Enid didn't know how to phrase her feelings without it being taken the wrong way.
"Too many people? I find that hard to believe when it comes to you. You seem to appreciate the presence of others unlike me." Wednesday was right, Enid had fit right in with the Addamses in her own way, bringing laughter out of them, refusing to submit to their horrifying ideas of fun. The entire room had come to respect the ferocity of Enid's neverending brightness.
"You enjoy my presence though", Enid replied, attempting to change the topic with a small attempt at a smile. There were other reasons why she felt uncomfortable.
"I do not, it is just as if your existence was created to annoy me, and stop changing the topic", Wednesday denies it as she comes to lean against the railing of the balcony beside Enid like that night she had first seen Enid shed tears.
"Fine, it just feels… too elaborate. I like the idea of a party, don't get me wrong… but why did you invite our friends so suddenly without telling me?" Enid's brilliantly blue eyes bore into the side of Wednesday's head as she looked out over the cemetery. It was obvious that Morticia and Gomez wouldn't have known who to invite even with Thing reporting back to them, there was no way they would've known to invite even Ajax.
"I wanted to show you that you're not alone even if your family outcast you, you have my family and a family of friends." Wednesday shrugs as if it's nothing, but Enid feels the implications behind it, that perhaps Wednesday feels guilty for taking Enid away from her family.
"Thanks, Wednesday. But the truth is none of them can ever replace my own family." Seeing the way Wednesday's face darkens, Enid hurries to continue. "I knew that when I told them and I'm ready to suffer the consequences if it means being with you." She meant every word.
"Querida…" Wednesday's eyes shined darkly against the light coming from inside the house. Not for the first time, Enid had wiped Wednesday's mind clear of any coherent answer. Wednesday Addams was speechless for Enid Sinclair and she wouldn't have it any other way.
By the look in Wednesday's eyes Enid knew she had finally gotten through to Wednesday her sincerity towards this relationship. No words were needed for Enid to know that Wednesday Addams loved her back. As for Wednesday, her heart beat impossibly fast. To her dismay she had fallen a complete victim of the Addams family curse. So now that they were alone in this little bubble of a balcony, Wednesday had to admit that it didn't seem so horrible to succumb to the disgustingly sweet mass of feelings that had formed within her heart. Most of all, Wednesday Addams realized that Enid and her worked exactly the way they were. Without bending the world, without acting differently or making up for what this relationship cost them.
Both of them leaned in, magnets being inevitably pulled towards one another.
That's when the door to the balcony flew open. "C'mon Enid, Wednesday it's your night we can't continue the celebration without you two!" Bianca called out with a roll of her eyes as Yoko grabbed Enid by the hand, dragging her back towards the ballroom.
Wednesday's hand slipped towards her hidden knife. Enid may have specified she couldn't kill any friends, but she hadn't mentioned anything about maiming.
Notes:I decided that for the last chapter I wanted to go full out with the fluff and forego the crack-like humor for just a chapter as I have been slowly easing in that direction. I feel it was fitting to end the story like this. Rest assured, the epilogue will NOT be the same and will flip this idea on its head. It will be almost all campy humor and not much fluff at all.
I end this note with shameless self promotion, if you have time and are feeling like angst please check out my new wenclair fanfic, "I'm Choking (But I'll Do It Again)"!
Chapter 9: EpilogueSummary:Enid and Wednesday chaperone Pugsley's prom
Notes:(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
The chattering in the gymnasium was loud, but the glances their way made it all too obvious who the talk of the night was. No, it wasn't the poor overlooked prom King or prom Queen. No, they had the misfortune of winning the honor the year that Pugsley Addams was a senior. Which meant his family had volunteered to chaperone.
If it had been his parents, perhaps the scene would've been more comical and embarrassing for Pugsley himself. Instead, he stood proud as he laughed and chatted with the shining star of the room. It seemed she was the only person who didn't realize what was truly happening.
Wednesday however, was painstakingly aware of the attention people were paying to her fiancee. Every fleeting glance their way was met with a murderous glare. Truly, Wednesday couldn't be prouder to call Enid her fiancee and be able to show her off like this.
Perhaps the best part was when the star players had surrounded her like a pack of sorry dogs. Just as the leader had opened his mouth to sneer at Wednesday, a voice from behind them cheerfully called out, "Excuse me!"
Everyone's head whipped up towards the colorful woman, almost flawlessly matching her dress. Then, each boy almost swooned as Enid bared her teeth in a charming smile, glinting in the dim light of the gym as she made her way through them. "There you are, Willa!"
She wrapped her arm around Wednesday's and dramatically pouted. "Why'd you leave me behind?"
Patting Enid's hand that was on her arm (it would seem half hearted to anyone but Enid, for just a simple gesture like this meant a million words from Wednesday), Wednesday replied, "My apologies, cara mia. I was just in a hurry to… greet my former classmates."
"Wednesday Addams!" Enid gasped with a disapproving frown. "We've talked about this! You do not greet people with bodily harm! You greet people with a smile, like this!" Then she turns around and flashes all the boys her brightest, most welcoming smile.
Rolling her eyes, Wednesday slowly peels her lips back, forcing her face into an unnatural looking smile. So much so that the uneasy boys staggered backward and all murmured something about something they had to do, leaving Enid and Wednesday by the punch table. Eventually, Pugsley had wandered in, immediately making a beeline for the protection of Wednesday and Enid.
It took an entire hour for anybody else to dare to approach, and this time it was the prom queen herself. Wednesday never bothered to remember her name.
"Oh my god, are you really Wednesday's fiancee?" she practically squealed, dramatically pulling her tone upward in a way that hurt Wednesday's ears.
"Yup!" Enid held up her left hand, wiggling her fingers so that her ring sparkled. It sent spiders crawling in Wednesday's stomach to see Enid so proud of the ring signifying their promise. "Wednesday has one too!" Enid adds excitedly, grabbing Wednesday's hand and dragging it up to eye level so the girl could see.
Rolling her eyes, Wednesday can only guess when the girl's eyeballs will pop out of their sockets from how wide her eyes were opening with each revelation.
"Whoa. Where did you get these?" The fakeness appalled Wednesday, but apparently it didn't irk Enid at all how shallow the question was because she only grinned wider.
"Oh it was Wednesday's family vault", Enid replied with a light laugh as if remembering a beautiful memory.
"The family… what?!"

The Morning After Their Engagement Party
"Where are we going?" Enid asked in a hushed whisper to Wednesday as Gomez led them through the hidden door in the study.
"To choose our rings." Wednesday answered as if they were going to get groceries.
Doing a double take, Enid has to pause to process her words. "Wait what?"
"The ones for being engaged of course." Wednesday tilted her head as if to question what was wrong.
"Wednesday, shouldn't we wait until we get married? I mean you already proposed, there's no need to give me a ring, especially since matching ones are usually to signify marriage." Worrying her lip with her teeth by the end of the words slipping out of her mouth.
"I was under the impression that werewolves marked each other upon choosing a mate for life and that would be what you wished to do when we are officially wed. Of course, if you don't want a shiny, sparkling, ring who am I to force it on you?" Raising a brow, Wednesday seems to dare her to refuse such a rare addition to her closet.
Without hesitation, Enid shakes her head vigorously. "No! No I'll take the ring!"
"Great! Here we go then", Gomez intervenes cheerfully, after watching their entire conversation. He yanks on a switch and with a shriek from Enid they go tumbling downward this way and that.
By the time they get all the way to the vault on a rollercoaster of a ride, Enid is literally clinging onto Wednesday. Fortunately, her vertigo seems to up and disappear the moment her eyes land upon the mounds and mounds of jewelry Gomez presents them with.
"What are you waiting for? Get looking!" Gomez urges the two of them on, positively vibrating in excitement for the two girls.
They go through ring after, ring, some without a match, some too plain for Enid, some too garishly bright for Wednesday until finally through all the clashing of metal pushed against metal to rifle through the piles of jewelry, Wednesday quietly says, "Querida."
With curious eyes, Enid walked forward, peering down at the box that Wednesday had her head bent downwards to stare unwaveringly at. Nestled inside the dark box were two matching rings. The details were stunning. Intertwined on the top of one was several small stones, each of a different color. The other, held the same stones, in the same shape and size and place, only to be sparkling black and crystal clear stones.
It encompassed them so well. They were opposites, different, yet fit so well next to each other.
Looking up, Enid saw in Wednesday's eyes that she was thinking the exact same thing. This was the perfect pair.
"Oh yes, I had that same look on my face when Morticia and I found the perfect ring."
Their moment was interrupted as Wednesday and Enid both turned to see the face of Gomez way too close to them as he observed their interaction. It was very much an invasion of personal space.
Enid gave a squeak in surprise, jumping back a smidge as Wednesday pushed Gomez away with her index finger by his forehead. "Father, we are not you. Now, if you don't mind we will be retiring to our room." She holds her hand out to Enid, who blushes as she places her hand in Wednesday's chilly one. Before turning to leave, Wednesday pulls Enid close and pecks her on the cheek. Then she drags a stunned and tomato red Enid out of the vault.
"Oh, Wednesday, the Addams family curse is upon you no matter how you deny it", Gomez chuckles as he watches them leave.
Grinning through it all, Enid made sure to show off her ring in not so subtle ways for the next three months. Although Wednesday had made it sound like simply a shiny accessory to add to Enid's wardrobe, the fact that Wednesday had willingly put on a matching one spoke volumes.
Showing it off wasn't to show wealth, or fortune. It was to tell everyone that Enid Sinclair had gotten Wednesday to let her in, and she could not be prouder of any other achievement in her life.

Staring back at the prom queen who had so loudly questioned the existence of the Addams family vault, Enid only beamed brighter after reliving the exhilarating memory of her journey to find the ring. "Yeah, but it's just a symbol really."
"Of course you'd say that, you're marrying rich", murmurs the girl in front of them.
Eyes flashing, Enid steps closer, managing to make the girl shrink despite being taller than the werewolf. Grinning maliciously, Enid shows off her sharp fangs as she asks all too sweetly, "Could you repeat that?"
Wednesday can only smirk as she watches the exchange. The girl's night was going to end horrifyingly after a comment like that. Enid was a horror worthy of the darkest nightmares when she wished to be in her own way. Enid Sinclair, soon to be Addams, was the nightmare from Wednesday's deepest, coldest, desires.
Notes:I just had to write this chapter and end it off on a humorous note. I hope you all enjoyed this, and if you have any ideas for wenclair you want me to write, let me know and I'll do my best to write anything that is within my abilities (and not downright wrong to write about).
I thank every single person who has read this far, and any person who has left encouragement for me. Every kudo, every comment, every subscription, every person who even tried to read one word. With that, I shall leave this story here for now.
Notes:I tried so hard to do Wednesday and Enid justice but they are so far away from the characters I usually write. Either way, I hope I came close to the personalities and humor of Wednesday as well as the Addams family. This was supposed to be humorous but I'm not sure it came out that way.
I do have more chapters planned explaining where the book came from and the aftermath, of course with funny events like Enid in the Addams house for the first time, or the Sinclair family getting to deal with Wednesday and her morbid lifestyle. But whether or not I publish those depends on how much the audience likes this first chapter and if people want a second.
