Chapter 12 - Uno

Mission time. Yuna gave me a small map with directions on where to find Maya. Seems simple enough. I just walk the path from here to…here, then…there. The map itself is just a swerving line with dots on it. A few scribbles on the side as well, hmm.

I said goodbye to Bella, then made my way down the hill into Uno, the capital of Cestaf. This place is huge. Not wanting to waste time before Maya gets kidnapped again, I quickly made my way through the city. I will come back sometime to explore.

Of course, I took note of my path so I wouldn't get lost if I lost the map. A skill I picked up moving around with Bella, memorizing paths and unfamiliar territory will save your life.

Firstly, I walked through a neighbourhood of very tall buildings, very close to each other, each identical, and the people there hung their clothes between them. Actually, while I was there, I could barely see the sky, just clothes and people, lots of people lived there. It smelled like wetness and people. So many fucking people too.

Then I walked past a bustling market, where an old, short man with white hair stopped me to buy his meat. He should be careful with those words. I ignored him and walked away. I followed the line until I arrived at a small clearing with a fountain at the center, nothing fancy. Bumped into so many people on the way, not sure how I didn't start a fight by accident.

The map said Maya was right by the church. The church, I'd say, is the main building here; it is huge. With decor and architecture i cannot understand. All I know is it pays homage to the forsaken creator. I don't believe in religion too much, but I will try to be respectful.

The map says Maya is hiding to the side, between the church and the next building. Sounds easy enough, but as I arrived at the church, I found this odd thing standing on a stone pillar right in front of it.

"What am I seeing…"

A small bird, a fat small bird with thick, huge, furrowing eyebrows on its face. It wore a small shirt that didn't do much to hide his protruding belly. He is so fat, but so cute too. As I walked past, I couldn't keep my eyes off it, until it looked at me.

Why does he look angrier than before? Did he notice me staring…well, it was obvious I was staring. I need to stop that.

We locked eyes until I vanished into the alleyways. "What's his problem? just cause he is cute."

I didn't have to walk far to find Maya sitting on a wooden board, staring into space. Okay, now time to bring her back; it should be easy. I am stronger after all; she can't say no… but we do not do that here.
