Chapter 9 - No to drugs

Arthur and Jenny went to the roof in top of a building and gazed down at their destination, a mansion. It was no ordinary mansion, though.

"My contact sent me the location of this mafia" The mansion was fully surrounded by a tall wall and with many armed guards "It seems his daughter has become addicted to the drug this guys are selling, so he wants us to destroy the mafia and his lab"

Jenny lit up a cigarrete with her hands "How's this drug different from other drugs or this cigarrete?" She took a big whiff out of it.

"I did some research this morning and the drug can apparently manifest the illusions you see with it into real life"

"What? So it's more like a device than a drug, I can imagine that being a superpower"

"That's the weird thing. They have somehow found a way to put a guy's power into that thing"

"So basically, The drug does what an ordinary drug does but the allucinations you see come into life?"

"Yes, that's exactly what it is" Arthur turned back and Jenny followed him soonly, heading down the stairs of the roof and walking towards the mansion.

As they approached it, Jenny asked a question.

"What's the plan, then? Do we just fight our way through?"

"No, we got to be smart with this. Overpowering them isn't going to work, so we'll just sneak in as clients, they'll bring us to their boss, we kill him and then we destroy their lab somehow"

"Sounds like a pretty flawed plan, I like it"

They reached the main door, two guards stopped them at the entrance.

"What's your business here?"

Arthur put up the most expressive face he could, which was not much, and talked to the guards.

"We came here to get some good stuff"

"Good stuff? Hahaha, are you hearing this guy Marc?"

"Yeah, it seems you got lost buddy, this is not your place"

Jenny intervened in the conversation "Come on, man... His wife left him and took the kids, so we are searching for something that'll get us really high, y'know?"

"Still, if you wanted some, we got lots of places where we sell 'good stuff'. Why'd you decide to come here of all places?"

"Well... We heard from the guy that told us about this that the real candies were sold here, other drugs are just plain boring now for us"

"Hmm..." The guard analized them for some moments before he talked again.

"Alright. Marc, let 'em pass" Then he turned to them again "I hope you got some money, 'cause this is really valuable stuff. If you don't, this won't be the last time we'll be seeing eachother"

They got off the way of the door and it opened, after a few seconds, they entered the wolf's den.

After they made sure the guards couldn't keep hearing them, they spoke again.

"You gotta work on those acting skills, Arthur" As to Arthur simply responded with a shrug "Not my area of expertice"

A butler then guided them to the main house, and as they were walking their corridors they could see a lot of people with empty, lifeless eyes walking aimlessly through the corridor.

This catched Jenny's attention and she asked the butler guiding them "Who are these people?" The butler looked back to her then continued onwards without saying a word.

"Totally not suspicious at all" She whispered into Arthur's ears.

They finally got to a room with a fancy door and the butler just nodded at them and left. With uncertainty running through their veins, they opened the door.

Inside, there was a bald man, covered in tatoos and smoking from a hookah, around him, there were a lot of women in the floor, seemingly high and very intoxicated.

Jenny couldn't help but frown in disgust at the scene but she covered it quickly and put a customer's facade for now.

The bald man finally noticed them and raised an eyebrow, smirking, like he had found a new prey to fed on.

"And who do we got here? Are you interested in what we sell at our humble abode?"

Then he noticed the women laying in the floor and clapped, two servants entered the room and began dragging the women out of the room, then two other servants entered and stood infront of the door, blocking the exit.

"I'm sorry for the unsightly display, would you two be so kind as to tell me your names?"

This time, Arthur learned his lesson and stayed quiet while Jenny talked instead.

"Sure, I'm Emilly, and the man besides me is called John. He can't speak, went mude a few years ago"

Arthur looked a little offended but regardless, he nodded at the bald man.

"Well, I'm sorry to hear about that. Should we proceed into business now?

"Can you tell us a little more about the product? Couldn't help but notice those empty gazes in the corridor, who are those people?"

"Empty gazes? Ah, you must be talking about 'them', they are simply customers that work here in order to keep consuming the product, it's just that good"

"What are the effects, exactly?"

"As you probably already know, it manifests people's illusion into reality, that means you can even imagine the love of your life and bring them into reality, that is until the effect wears off"

"So that's why some people are so addicted to it... Fine, we'll take some, how much is it?"

"Ten grams are around ten thousand dollars, take it or leave it"

Jenny looked to her right "Hey, do you have ten thousand dollars?" Arthur just silently stared at her.

The bald man's smirk faded from his face "You know too much now, if you don't become customers, you're both going to die"

The two servants started approaching them from behiind and Arthur just sighed defeatedly.

"Hah...I just knew it was going to end like this"

Then, the battle erupted.
