They left the apartment and went to take a shower in a public bath instead, then headed off to Barns's house.
He greeted them and they ate some breakfast while discussing the details of the flight and the travel.
"Unfortunately, I won't be able to come with you since someone has to keep the clinic open" He looked through the window, seeing the poor state of the people living in this area "I can't let these people die, they don't have the money to go into a normal hospital, so I'm all they have"
Arthur picked some bacon of his plate and chewed on it "It's fine, shouldn't be that complicated. Tricky part's going to be finding that guy, it's going to be a long mission"
"Yeah, because of that..." Barns's pulled what looked like a credit card from his pocket "This is where most of my savings are for emergencies. You should have it, it can be used in any part of Europe too" Jenny's eyes opened wide and she looked at the credit card "Barns, are you sure we can have this?"
Barns nodded and smiled kindly "I'm aware of your financial situation, both of you. I come from a pretty well accomodated family, and if it's for Becky's sake, I don't mind spending this much"
Arthur nodded and picked up the card from him "Thank you, Barns. I promise we'll save Becky"
In that moment, Becky left her room and joined them at the table "Hey Arthur, hi Jenny"
"Did you get some good rest? I hope that situation didn't leave you with any traumas or something"
Becky shook her head and smiled "It's fine really, this isn't the first time this happened, it's not rare at all to get kidnapped once or twice in this part of the city"
"What happened the first time? Oh, if you aren't comfortable sharing it you can just keep it to yourself"
"It wasn't really a big deal, some guys kidnapped me to ask for a recue from my family. This was ten years ago, when my parents were still around"
"I'm sorry to hear that, Becky" Jenny made a sad face and apologized for bringing that topic up.
"It is of no matter, Barns and I were never really attached to our parents since we barely saw them growing up"
Jenny nodded and then asked, curious "Then, how did you get out of that situation? Did your parents pay for the rescue?"
Becky chuckled and shook her head "No, not at all, actually. Ironically enough, it was Arthur who saved me that time too, he had just became a hero and it was one of his first missions. I remember that time very well, he was so unexperienced that he just almost made it alive and he then stayed at our clinic for a week"
"Hey, it was because I couldn't go all out and kill them"
Jenny smiled and raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised "I can't quite imagine Arthur struggling, much less losing to someone"
Arthur scoffed, putting his hands in his pockets and leaning back against his chair.
"What? If you knew how many battles I've lost in my life, you wouldn't be saying that. Nobody is invincible, nobody." Arthur said that with an unusual grimm expression and Jenny fell silent, then the room felt awkward.
Barns interrupted the weird athmosphere and chuckled "Well, other matters aside, I think it's time we discuss the details of your travel"
They all started listening and leaned in the table "First, obviously, you'll have to bring Becky with you. She can be really useful healing with that device, so she won't be a nuance"
"Alright, got it"
"You'll take a plane directly to Portugal, if he's not there, you will advance to Spain, then it's up to you wether you go to France or Italy. If he's nowhere to be seen, then that might complicate things a little but try to search in other countries. There are a lot of countries you'll have to search, but it's the only option we have"
"Well, he's a pretty famous doctor, so once in the country, it shouldn't be too dificult to locate him"
"That's the only consolation we have"
They stayed silent for a few seconds until Becky talked again "Arthur, Jenny, I really can't thank you enough for doing this... But I got to ask, why are you doing this? I'm a boring girl with no redeeming qualities, so why are you willing to go to such extremes for me?"
"Same as why I saved the girl besides me. Ideals"
"Ideals?"
"Yes, I promised to myself that I would save and protect who needs it, no matter who they are"
Becky turned her head to Jenny "But what about you? You don't have any reasons to help me"
Jenny smirked and shook her head "Nah, I just want to do it because I think it'll be fun, besides, I owe this guy a big favor after he saved my ass"
Becky smiled, relieved and grateful "Thank you, really, I'm very grateful to both of you"
"No need to thank us" Arthur turned to barns "So when do we leave?"
Barns checked his phone for a moment and then replied "You'll leave in a week, make sure to be well prepared for a long journey"
"Got it, we should get going now, though. We have some business to attend"
"Alright, take care then"
They said their goodbyes to Barns and Becky and left the house
"So, what are these business we have to attend?"
Arthur turned around to look at her and then spoke calmly "I got us a little job this morning, should give us some good money just in case the card is not enough"
"Fine by me, what'd you got us?"
"We have to investigate a mafia that sells a weird type of drug and destroy their lab, easy enough, right?"
Jenny shrugged "Yeah, let's get to it, then"
Therefore, they walked towards their destination.
