Chapter 82 - Chapter 81 Quantum chip, Auto-Pilot Combat Program

Vegapunk lifted his gaze slightly toward the nine-tomoe Rinnegan moon in the mental plane, then turned into a stream of light and shot upward.

In an instant he felt himself slip into a vast consciousness. Sensing the spiritual pressure on the other side, Vegapunk was horrified to realize that even at his peak—before his brain had been excised in his previous life—his own mental strength had probably been only ten or twenty percent of this being's.

As expected of a super-life-form that devoured an entire planet's energy and at least a few hundred thousand lives. Without the brainwave synchronization that had condensed the minds of nearly a billion people, my psyche would've been crushed in a second.

After a brief moment of admiration, Vegapunk used the tremendous psionic power he had gained through brainwave synchronization to instantly overwhelm Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's mind, furiously excavating and browsing the memories of the Ōtsutsuki Clan.

Even Kaguya Ōtsutsuki couldn't contend with the combined mental strength of hundreds of millions of humans; she was suppressed almost immediately, and her clan's memories were rapidly catalogued and absorbed by Vegapunk.

Compared with humans, who have taken Chakra and created a vast array of Ninjutsu to push their combat power to its limits, the Ōtsutsuki treat Chakra more like instinct. Apart from their bloodline abilities, they've developed almost no fighting techniques.

That doesn't mean their technology is inferior. Because they're innately mighty and have never faced external threats, the Ōtsutsuki never cared much about using Chakra for battle, instead focusing on improving their essence—on better ways to grow trees.

The Kāma seal that prevents their death, for example, was originally invented simply to feed the God Tree. As higher-order beings, the depth of their research far exceeds that of most in the Ninja World.

Just as Vegapunk was greedily absorbing this knowledge, a thunderous shock rattled the entire mental space.

What's happening? Vegapunk, still busy suppressing Kaguya's mind, diverted some processing power to tap into her senses—only to find that her physical body was being beaten up outside.

Naruto Uzumaki, wreathed in golden light, and Sasuke Uchiha, Rinnegan eyes blazing, streaked around Kaguya's body like gold and violet beams, attacking without pause.

Because Vegapunk's brainwave-synced spirit had crushed Kaguya's mind, her reflexes and reasoning had plummeted; her combat strength had been slashed in half, leaving her with little more than instinct.

Not that she'd had much tactical intelligence to begin with, so the drop wasn't enormous.

At the critical moment, her dutiful son Black Zetsu stepped in as a proxy, possessing her body to block Naruto and Sasuke, though he was visibly losing ground.

This won't do… there's still so much memory I haven't extracted!

Unlike ordinary humans, Kaguya's memories are extremely hard to read even when her spirit is suppressed; they have to be squeezed out bit by bit. Vegapunk estimated that fully absorbing her knowledge would take several hours.

No choice—guess I'll have to fight for her! Sorry, Naruto, Sasuke.

Quantum chip, activate combat program and take control of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's body!

Long ago Vegapunk had realized he possessed no talent for battle. While protagonists could fight at two-hundred percent, he struggled to bring out even a hundred percent of his power.

The body he now used was based on Cavendish's genes—a monster who became a master swordsman through instinct alone—yet Vegapunk could manifest only about sixty percent of that swordsmanship.

Combat truly demands talent: Yamato could thrash Shaolin masters with a basic Long Fist, while Zhang Wuji, decked out in top-tier skills, had few real victories. The gap in fighting aptitude is enormous.

Vegapunk's own combat talent was effectively zero, the polar opposite of his scientific genius.

Knowing this, and not wanting to become the stepping-stone genius defeated by a lower-tier cultivator, he had long ago programmed an auto-pilot combat routine into his Quantum chip.

Although rigid, the program could stabilize his output at a full one-hundred percent.

That alone is remarkable; while comic heroes power up casually, most people in One Piece and Naruto can't even fight consistently at their actual level.

Under stress, anger, grief, or despair, ordinary warriors don't surge like protagonists—they drop below baseline. With the Quantum chip as his pilot, Vegapunk's strength was nothing to scoff at.

[Acknowledged. Combat program initiating. Scanning body… scan complete. Generating new combat model… model established. Full body takeover commencing. Combat initiated!]

Outside, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's eyes brightened with an inorganic gleam; her Chakra erupted, blasting Black Zetsu away.

Mother, are you awake? What just happened? Could it be Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki's doing?

Black Zetsu shouted, but received no answer. Kaguya merely raised her arm; with a hiss a bone blade sprouted from her palm.

With a casual sweep she reshaped her Truth-Seeking Orbs into close-fitting black armor that covered her from head to toe.

At last her indifferent gaze settled on Sasuke and Naruto, sending a chill through them both. The progenitor of Chakra felt… inhuman.
