The Divine Tree seemed to target only those caught in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. After Vegapunk and Hancock stopped attacking it, the tree ignored them and hoisted Sara up.
Vegapunk paid Sara no mind. After harvesting a few branches for materials, he planned to wait quietly for the illusion to end. Yet sensing the strange energy suffusing the world through Infinite Tsukuyomi, the scientist's curiosity—and madness—flared again.
Unlike the original Vegapunk, this transmigrator hadn't used the Brain-Brain Fruit solely to boost intelligence.
He'd also cultivated telekinesis and mental power. To increase his processing speed, he'd once researched brain-wave synchronization.
Inspired by a comic from his previous life, the project aimed to tune human brainwaves and turn other minds into living calculators—an evil path to vast computation.
The research had even borne fruit, but the advent of quantum technology let him rebuild his own brain into a super quantum computer whose single intellect surpassed all humanity. The old plan became obsolete and was scrapped.
But if I don't pursue raw calculation, only knowledge and inspiration… the gains could be immense. Almost every human here is trapped in Infinite Tsukuyomi—what a perfect chance!
If I can tamper with their minds now, unimaginable knowledge will be mine.
Smiling, Vegapunk acted at once. With his Quantum chip amplifying him, he began analyzing the illusion with Chakra.
Yet he had no intention of dispelling it; he meant to slip his own code inside. First, he needed a point of entry.
He chose Sara. The instant the girl fell under Infinite Tsukuyomi, she was celebrating with her people in old Roran when her mind lurched; the scenery shattered into darkness, and her sealed memories returned.
What's happening? Right—I crossed over through the Ryūmyaku…
Good—you're awake, Sara.
Spinning in the void, she saw Vegapunk.
What is this, Dr. Vegapunk? No time—come with me!
The moment he spoke, Sara's vision blurred; she became a rainbow stream of light circling behind his head.
With the illusion broken and his own mental power grown, Vegapunk turned to an endless field of bubbles—dreams of every person on earth.
The huge, blazing ones belonged to mighty Ninja; the tiny, dim ones to common folk.
He left the giants untouched for now, shattering only the small, dim pearls as numerous as Ganges sand. Each crushed dream let him seize its psyche and storm onward.
One became ten, ten became hundreds; the stolen mental force snowballed. At first he'd been a pebble in an ocean of dreams.
But as hijacked minds multiplied exponentially, the amassed psyche surged like a tidal wave, rocking the entire dreamworld until even the titanic bubbles cracked.
Dream after dream collapsed, their knowledge siphoned into his Quantum chip. Data flooded him; the chip upgraded, and his brain burned with heat.
In the end the dreamworld collapsed entirely. Alone in the void, Vegapunk stood ringed by a sun-bright halo of countless rainbow streams, his outline warping under the glare.
Above him hung the nine-tomoe Rinnegan—the root of the illusion.
Yet Infinite Tsukuyomi could no longer touch this place. It might ensnare scattered individuals, but not a monster forged from hundreds of millions of minds.
Via brain–psyche synchronization, using the jutsu as a conduit, he had achieved the unthinkable. Though inside a dream, he felt denser than reality, bloated with stolen spirit.
A pity… only within Infinite Tsukuyomi can I wield such power.
He sighed. The jutsu would soon turn humans into White Zetsu weapons, their minds destroyed. Even he could not keep this army forever.
Still, one can't be too greedy. Nearly every secret of the Naruto World is now stored on my chip—enough to advance my science five to ten years.
And overhead waits the main course: what knowledge lies inside an Ōtsutsuki skull?
Illusions are contests of pure spirit. With dojutsu the caster abandons bodily defense, pitting mind against mind.
That's why illusions rebound: the moment you cast one is when you're most open to attack.
