Chapter 2 - 2 The First Mark of the Contract

That morning, she woke up with her head full of questions. The mysterious note that appeared on the table last night was still in her hand: "We will meet."

Her feelings were mixed – fear, curiosity, and strangely, a hint of excitement. She didn't know why the note affected her so much, but her heart raced every time she imagined who the man was and what the meeting's purpose might be.

At the office, she tried to focus on work, but every moment felt slow. Shadows of him continued to play in her mind. Every small sound, every step of a passing coworker, seemed to hide a secret.

Sitting at her desk, her phone vibrated. A new message appeared: "Come to the riverside cafe at 6 PM. Don't be late."

Fear mixed with curiosity grew stronger. Who was he? How did he know she would be at the office? Why was he not frightening, yet evoked such a strange feeling she could hardly explain?

She tried talking to coworkers, but her mind kept returning to the message. Every attempt at logic was resisted by her heart. The desire to know was stronger than the fear.

As evening approached, she prepared herself, ensuring her outfit was neat. Her heart raced; her hands trembled slightly. On the way to the riverside cafe, every shadow on the street, every passerby felt like a test. She asked herself, "What will happen if this is not just an ordinary meeting?"

Arriving at the cafe, the place was quiet. Only the sound of the flowing river and leaves whispering in the wind. She saw him sitting in a corner, his silhouette clear though his face was partly hidden.

She walked slowly, each step heavy with anticipation. He lifted his head and looked at her with calm yet deep eyes.

She sat in front of him, and he opened a small box he had brought. Inside, a piece of paper and a silver ring. "This is for you," he said softly. He extended it, but she hesitated, a mixture of emotions racing through her chest.

Her heart rebelled – fear, curiosity, trust, but logic whispered that this could be a trap. She took a deep breath and asked, "What does all this mean? Why me?"

He smiled faintly, hiding a big secret, and said:

"Everything you see is only the beginning. If you want to know the truth, follow me."

She paused, her mind in turmoil. Follow him or return to the safety she knew? Every choice seemed risky, yet her heart was now bound by curiosity that could not be resisted.

Step by step, they left the cafe. The river flowed beside them, the moon reflecting on the water, casting mysterious shadows across the night. She felt each moment filled with tension, each breath carrying the thrill of danger.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated again. A message appeared: "If you still want a peaceful life, don't follow him. But if you want the truth… continue your steps."

She glanced at him, and his smile was now even more mysterious, as if he knew something she did not.
