Chapter 14 Part 1 Beigong's Punch

After school in the afternoon, Qi finished packing his bag and strolled out of the school at ease. Having walked a bit, he took out his phone to send Aunt a flirty text, when a harsh female voice snarled right beside his ear: "You scum!"

Qi turned his head Beigong Lingyu stood there. Her bright, lively eyes were now swollen red, clearly from crying hard.

Qi's mind was surprisingly calm. A girl his own age didn't intimidate him anymore. Tilting his head, he said, "You followed me?"

"So what if I did?" Beigong's red-rimmed eyes burned with anger.

Qi unconsciously mimicked Aunt's manner. "Follow me for what?"

Beigong clenched her fists. "To beat you up!"

"What grudge do I have with you?" Qi smirked.

That made her pause.

Qi lowered his voice: "I was having sex with my girlfriend in the park what's it to you? Did I provoke you? Did I harm you? Why are you so angry?"

Beigong was speechless. Clenching her fists, trembling slightly, she gritted, "You cursed at me then!"

"No kidding! If you and your boyfriend were having sex and I stood nearby watching with my arms folded… you wouldn't curse me?" Influenced by Aunt, Qi now showed a thuggish streak. With his quick tongue and plenty of knowledge, he could be quite the rascal in an argument.

He didn't expect Beigong to suddenly land a punch right on his face.

A month ago, Qi might have been knocked out on the spot. But after over a month of intense physical training, his constitution had improved dramatically. The blow merely made his head ring for a second; he recovered quickly.

"Filthy pervert, I'll kill you!" Beigong snarled through clenched teeth as she swung again. Qi dodged to the side.

Several passersby, seeing middle schoolers fight, quickly stepped aside, clearing space for the two.

Qi felt wronged but realized Beigong's abilities from that one punch. The girl clearly trained long-term and was in great shape, but she was still a girl her striking power was limited. He had only trained a month, but it had been intense and effective, and he also had the advantage of being male. If he fought back, he'd probably win.

But Qi really didn't want to raise a hand against a girl. When he was small, Mother had told him: "A man who hits a woman is the worst kind of man!" Aunt held essentially the same view: "Most despise men who hit women." And in Qi's memory, no matter how badly his parents argued, Father never raised a hand.

That belief was already embedded in Qi's bones.

So as Beigong swung and chased him, Qi could only guard passively and look for chances to slip away.

She hated him to the bone, paying no attention to terrain or surroundings. When she chased him to the curb, she stepped into thin air and fell. By the time she scrambled up to sit, Qi was already in front of her.

Instinctively, Beigong squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for his counterattack.

But nothing came. When she opened her eyes, she saw Qi's figure sprinting away.

As he ran, he shouted back: "It's not that I fear you, or that I can't beat you I just don't hit women."

Onlookers burst into laughter. A couple even praised his retreating back: "That kid's a real man!"

Beigong gritted her teeth, glaring murderously at Qi's back, muttering, "I don't believe you won't come to school tomorrow. If you do, I'll hit you every time I see you."

When Qi got home, Mother immediately noticed the bruise on his face.

She cried out, "Qi, you got hit? On the first day back? Tell Mom who hit you? Why?"

Qi didn't know how to explain and could only mumble, trying to brush it off.

Soon Father came back. He wasn't as dramatic as Mother, but he asked with concern. Under their questioning, Qi vaguely explained: "A new transfer student. Probably misunderstood me, so I got punched once." He emphasized: "Just once, and then it stopped."

Mother was furious!

Given Father's position, their family had significant pull locally usually low-key and never stirring trouble, but if someone picked on them, they wouldn't take it lying down.

So Mother decided to go to the school the next day to see which brat was bold enough to hit Qi.

Unexpectedly, Father didn't stop her. He only reminded lightly: "Get the facts clear don't start shouting the moment you arrive."

Despite Qi's efforts to stop her, Mother appeared at the school office the next day.

The chase had happened near the school gate, and many students had seen it. So when Beigong arrived, teachers took her to the office for questioning again.

When Mother saw Beigong, she couldn't believe her eyes. She had imagined a burly, vicious delinquent, maybe with tattoos someone to lecture properly about not knowing their place.

But she was wrong.

"A girl?" Mother blinked repeatedly, and only after teachers confirmed did she accept it.

"Little… little sister," Mother struggled to find the words. "Why did you hit our Qi?"

Beigong stood with her head lowered, lips pressed tight, silent only tears kept flowing.

Mother asked again; Beigong still said nothing.

Seeing her delicate features and tear-filled eyes, Mother's heart softened. She pulled a teacher aside to ask about Beigong's family, nodding constantly and glancing sympathetically at the pitiful girl.

Qi, standing aside, was extremely anxious. He couldn't be sure she'd remain silent. If she revealed what she'd seen two nights before true or not Mother would at least grow suspicious, making future meetings with Aunt far more complicated.

But Qi never imagined how it would end.

After learning about Beigong's family, Mother first concluded: Beigong's chasing and hitting Qi had nothing to do with his family background.

Then, Mother subjectively decided: a cute girl like Beigong must have had her reasons to hit Qi and the main responsibility likely lay with her own son.

So Mother quietly pulled Beigong aside and asked softly: "Don't be afraid, dear tell Auntie if something's wrong… Did Qi bully you?"
