Chapter 13 - Fighting Fanatic

He noticed another kid walking towards a door behind him, his short black hair swayed despite its length, and his auburn eyes were locked on a book in his hands, as if the outside world didn't even exist.

"Hey could you help," Klaus stepped in front of him, trying to ask for help so that he could get inside his room.

'How embarrassing,' He was dying on the inside.

The kid looked up at him and smiled wryly.

'What the hell,' Klaus smiled back at him and waited for him to help.

"Erm, uh," He started rubbing the back of his neck, and was clearly embarrassed or shy…or both.

"How can I channel my mana to open it," Klaus asked just so they both could get through the situation easily.

"OHHH!" He chuckled awkwardly and hit himself on his forehead a couple of times.

'Is he this shy…' Klaus just stared at the dude who was legit just sweating in front of him because of a question.

"Y-You just have to use any spell…the rune inside will pick up your mana signature and…and will bind it to the door…" He explained shakily, his hands fidgeting with the hem of his clothes.

"Thanks, my name is Klaus by the way," He extended a hand forward which made the kid sweat even more in embarrassment.

"M-my name is Rowan…" Finally, he extended his hands and they shook hands, both smiling at each other.

'Alright this is awkward as hell,' Klaus let go and nodded in appreciation then turned towards his door.

Rowan hurriedly ran inside his own room behind him without hesitating for even one more second.

Ignoring it Klaus focused on his current task at hand.

'Lightning might get me in trouble if I blow something up, let's see,' He thought for a second then summoned one of his grimoires.

'Stormweave,' As soon as he even thought of the name the grimoire appeared in his palm. He opened on the first page and looked at the second spell.

'My memory served me correctly hah,' He chuckled inwardly.

'Wind burst,' He raised his palm towards the ground, and a heavy burst of wind pushed down, lifting him a little bit off the ground.

Suddenly his outfit glowed for one single second then returned to normal.

'Should be good then..?' He closed the book and thought about it vanishing and it did instantly.

'Let's see,' He walked one step closer and the door slid open instantly.

"Perfect," With slow steps, he walked inside, the room itself was pretty good. It actually looked like a small apartment.

'Even have my own bathroom,' Even if it was a small bathroom with a…toilet like thing and a bath, it was still good.

The room itself was bigger though, it had a ginormous bed in the middle of it, with a huge window covered by black covers.

Two bookshelves were standing on both sides of the room, however empty, and a single wardrobe was in front of the bed with a wooden desk and chair.

'Just like a normal dorm room huh,' He jumped on the bed, the textured but soft sheets brushing against his outfit. It felt soft to the touch, he nearly sank inside because it was so soft.

'Has it been so long since I lay on a good bed,' He remembered the time of him sleeping on his floor mattress that his parents paid for since he couldn't afford any better.

'I was a true loser,' He slapped himself then sat back up.

'Let's just explore the place, I don't want to get lost in my own thoughts,' He swiftly stood and walked out, the door sliding open. Just as he stepped out the door in front of his room opened as well, Rowan walking out.

Their eyes met, they both nodded, and then they both turned and started walking outside, their doors closing behind them. Their steps accidentally seemed synchronized but Klaus didn't care.

'Hm,' After they walked outside, past the sleeping baldie they both stood still.

Klaus looked around and Rowan had his eyes stuck to his book.

The spells Klaus heard earlier started getting louder and louder now.

Subconsciously he walked in the direction of the sound, leaving Rowan to read the book alone.

'Oh,' Soon he arrived in front of what seemed to be a mage's training field, where he saw the earlier girl they met with Victor.

'Who is she again…' He had forgotten her name completely.

Her movements were rough but delicate at the same time, extremely smooth and efficient.

'Oh she is a fire mage..?' Klaus assumed as she was sending off explosions at the doll, it took every explosion without even budging from its position.

"Flaming spear!"

Her black hair fluttered as a ginormous flame spear exploded outwards from her hands, he missed the doll and the spear crashed against an invisible wall.

"Damn," Klaus held back his chuckle as the girl turned towards him, shooting him a deadly stare.

"What are you looking at blondie…Flaming spear!" A vein throbbed on her forehead visibly as a flame spear materialized in her hands.

'I'm cooked,' Klaus smiled awkwardly then shrugged, he didn't have a clue what to say.

Which just seemed to make her even madder.

"Why don't you come here," Her grip tightened on the spear as she walked forward.

'Fuck it,' Klaus walked closer and she instantly threw the spear at her.

'Flame Dominion,' However he wasn't helpless against flames, not at all, he reached out and using his spell he grabbed the spear with his bare hands and held it.

"Huh," Her eyes widened in shock at Klaus.

"Cool weapon, back to the owner!" He launched it back way faster and it landed against her chest, sending her sliding back a couple of feet as the spear exploded. Smoke covered her body entirely and no part of her was visible, just her voice.

"How did you do that," The smoke cleared and she stood unharmed, glaring at Klaus with gleaming eyes that screamed she was clearly amazed by the display of his skill.

'Is she a fighting fanatic…' His smile twitched awkwardly and he sighed inwardly, already accepting whatever was coming.
