Chapter 16 - Chosen One

After they parted ways, Klaus ventured back into his dorm room, the door opening without any sign of struggle or need this time.

'It's been a while,' he instantly fell onto the bed, the door closing behind him.

Jen sat down next to him and watched as Klaus slowly drifted off to sleep.

Red leaves covered the ground like an endless ocean of blood as far as the eye could see.

The surrounding trees hushed, and leaves kept falling everywhere, it was an amazing sight to see.

Her blonde hair fluttered as she sat under the biggest tree.

A small pond in front of her, the water reflecting her pretty image perfectly, just like a mirror would reflect her beauty.

A blow of wind lifted her clothes slightly, revealing her pure white skin and slightly making her soft hair messy.

No footsteps echoed, however, she knew someone appeared behind her. Someone she already knew would come.

"Mistress Elisabeth," the person bowed, his long black hair tied up in a bun, however, his blue eyes were a sharper colour than the pond in front of them.

"You may speak, Raziel," her tone was dismissive, however, her eyes were closed, she didn't bother opening them for such a thing. Her hands were softly brushing against the red leaves.

"Sir Klaus has arrived at the academy," Raziel stood directly still like a statue, back straight like a soldier.

"Good, he'll be safe there," leaves floated and fell around her randomly, her aura making the leaves flutter.

"Mistress Elisabeth, may I ask why you are doing this?" Raziel wasn't the type to ask questions, after all, he was Elisabeth's dog. An assassin who obeyed and walked in her shadow and completed anything without any questions.

"You obey when you have to kill, yet you question such a simple thing?" She let out a small chuckle for the first time in forever, which made Raziel even more surprised.

"You don't see it, do you?" She turned towards him now, eyes fully open, yellow as a blazing sun staring directly into his soul.

Raziel shook his head and knelt down under her gaze.

"You are my best dog," she patted her head, "however, it's time we parted ways."

Her statement made Raziel tremble and fall on both knees.

"Mistress—"

"Don't misunderstand," she picked up a red leaf with her pure aura. "Your purpose from now on is to be Klaus's Shadow."

Raziel relaxed slightly, however, he still didn't understand. His hands were clutching at his own thighs as his face twisted in confusion.

"Is it because of that…prophecy? It's just a possibility Mistress, it might not even be him—"

"Trust me, he will become the Zur Krath." More leaves started levitating around her as her aura increased significantly.

Raziel nodded and bowed.

"Protect him even if your life depends on it, even from our own family," his bow deepened at Elisabeth's words as the moon slightly reflected from the pond behind them, making her gaze seem even sharper than ever.

"Yes, Mistress…however, isn't the academy safe with 'him' there?" Razael stood up and straightened his back instantly like a soldier.

"He can only do so much to protect his students, that old man is too nice," Elisabeth wiped a leaf off her shoulder.

"Now go, I'll take care of things here," she dismissed Razael, who dissolved into the shadows instantly without any further question, his aura vanishing completely from the nearby radius.

"You must live." A soft blink of mana released from her hands, making the water spiral and change colours in front of her, from deep blue to crimson red.

The 'kid' in the prophecy that was mentioned was snoring soundly, stomach down, ass up on his dormitory bed as the morning sun started shining onto his tiny figure.

A shadow watched them from the corner, however, no one knew of his existence there, and no one will ever know unless he chooses to reveal himself.

Raziel wouldn't talk, gossip, or do anything really.

"I'll interfere if his life is in danger," he whispered a tone no one would hear and laid back in the shadows, his presence completely erased as the sleeping Klaus started waking up.

"Good morning, Jen," he yawned, arms spread wide open as Jen's wings started fluttering slowly, lifting her fragile figure up.

"Good morning, Master Klaus," she was already smiling ear to ear as she flew around the room.

Klaus was wearing some simple pajamas, so he changed really quickly back into a similar outfit as yesterday.

As he was putting his shirt on, he heard some knocking on the door.

'Is it Evaline?' He sighed, already thinking of the unimaginable fighting fanatic and the things they would be exploring today in the academy.

As soon as he buttoned the shirt, he opened the door, however, it wasn't Evaline but a different girl this time.

'Who is this…' Her blue hair fluttered all the way down to her thighs, which were exposed…pretty much the whole thing due to the short school skirt. Up top, she just wore a simple blazer to match the outfit.

'Was the person who designed these a perv?' He sighed as their eyes met, they were pure blue like an endless ocean.

"What can I help you—"

"Evaline sent me," her voice was surprisingly soft and happy, kind of matched her looks if Klaus was being honest.

"Any proof?" Klaus's question made her smile tremble slightly.

"What?"

As soon as he asked back, Klaus already knew she was a liar.

"Evaline doesn't have friends here," Klaus smiled and pulled her into the room, the door closing behind them. She tried to resist, however, his grip was stronger than hers.

'Jen,' as soon as Klaus even thought about it, Jen was already floating above them, a flaming spear conjured aimed at the girl's head.

The temperature instantly elevated, and the girl gulped in a swear. Beads of sweat rolling down her neck and thighs.

"Did the Cassian guy send you?" Klaus's question made her whole body tremble as she kept gulping still.
