Chapter 56 - Reality Pushes Back

( PH 2 )

hallway remained silent not normal silence.a strange one heavy enough to feel.the damaged lights above them flickered weakly.

Cold wind moved through the broken windows deeper inside the abandoned building.rain echoed faintly outside anie still stood near the cracked wall.

breathing unevenly trying to process everything the woman had told her.

Called fractures awareness reality interference.the words still felt unreal

yet somehow they explained too much.the woman stood quietly at the far end of the corridor.

Only her silhouette visible beneath the unstable lights.still faceless still hidden beneath darkness.

"…so all this…"Anie's voice came out softer now exhausted.

"…the pressure… the headaches… those moments where everything feels wrong…"

woman answered calmly,"Your awareness expanding."

Rain rolled slowly across the shattered window beside her.thunder rumbled far above the city.anie lowered her eyes slightly.

"…and the blasts…"

The moment she said it memories hit instantly.broken concrete shattered glass.blood, eli collapsing her chest tightened painfully.

"…how can emotions create something like that…"

The woman remained silent briefly.

Then slowly began walking through the corridor again her footsteps echoed softly.

"You still think reality and human consciousness are separate."

"…aren't they?"

"No.,human perception constantly stabilizes the world around you."lights buzzed weakly.

"The brain filters reality,It ignores instability.it protects consistency."pause.,,

"But fractures interrupt that balance and when awareness begins resonating with fractures…"woman's voice lowered slightly.

"…reality starts responding back."

Cold air moved through the corridor again.anie frowned slightly still confused. The woman stopped walking beneath the flickering light.

"You are not creating supernatural power."

"Then what am I doing?"

"Interfering."

"Your emotional instability disrupts the balance around nearby fractures."

Anie's heartbeat slowed uneasily.

"The invisible waves...are reality reacting to unstable resonance."damaged light above them flickered violently.

"Pressure changes,motion distortion,

momentary instability."woman slowly raised her hand toward the hallway ceiling.

"When emotional spikes become severe…"air suddenly felt heavier.

"…physical reality loses balance temporarily."

A loud metallic creak echoed nearby.

One of the rusted pipes beside the wall bent sharply for a second.anie immediately stepped backward the woman remained calm.

"The world pushes back."

The pipe slowly returned to its original shape.anie stared at it breathing harder.

"…that happened because of me?"

"Partially." the woman lowered her hand

"At your current stage, your awareness reacts unconsciously."

Anie slowly looked down at her trembling fingers.

"…then what happens if I completely lose control…"Silence filled the corridor again.heavy, the woman finally answered.

"Reality distortion worsens."the atmosphere suddenly felt colder after those words.

"At early stages, interference remains brief.small pauses, localized pressure,

environmental instability."

"But stronger awareness creates larger distortions."

Anie's chest tightened.

"…larger…" woman nodded slightly.

"The environment starts reacting continuously. electronics malfunction,

sound delays, spatial inconsistencies appear.people nearby experience instability."

Anie remembered:frozen silence,

distorted movement, pressure inside her chest, time feeling delayed

"…and Hunters kill Called because of that…"

"Because unstable Called can become catastrophic."woman answered without hesitation the lights above them dimmed again.

"Some lose emotional balance completely, they stop trusting reality."

"They stop hearing the world correctly."

pause....

"And fractures respond more violently."

Anie swallowed slowly,

"…so Hunters think they're protecting people…"

"Some are cruel, some are afraid."woman's voice remained calm.

"Most Hunters stopped seeing Called as human long ago."rain intensified outside, sound echoed softly through the abandoned building.

"The world does not reward awareness, Anie."flickering lights buzzed loudly.

"It punishes it."

Those words settled heavily inside her chest.because deep inside she already understood them.even before tonight

normal life had already started feeling distant.

The pressure inside her head suddenly returned, sharp, violent .

" ah…"Anie grabbed the nearby wall immediately.the hallway lights froze dripping rain outside stopped midair.

silence swallowed everything.

For less than a second the entire corridor became motionless.then

everything snapped back violently.

"BZZZZT !"

lights burst with sparks.

Anie staggered backward breathing heavily.

"…what was that…"For the first time

the woman reacted seriously.

"You consciously interfered."Anie's heartbeat accelerated.

"…I didn't mean to…"

"That's the dangerous part." woman stepped closer slightly.

"At your stage, emotions trigger resonance unconsciously."Anie's breathing remained unstable.

"…how do I stop it…"

The woman stared at her silently for a few seconds.

Then quietly answered,

"You don't stop awareness, you survive it."

hallway became silent again.only the rain remained.anie slowly lifted her eyes toward the woman once more.

and suddenly something inside her mind clicked.

Samantha, the diary, the way this woman spoke about her.too personally,

too naturally.anie's expression slowly tightened.

"…who are you…"

woman remained silent.anie stepped forward slightly.

"How do you know Sam?"no answer.

"How do you know all this?"still silence.

The flickering lights buzzed softly overhead.

"…who are you really…"

For several seconds the woman didn't move.didn't speak then quietly she turned away.and started walking deeper into the dark hallway.Anie stood frozen.watching her silhouette slowly disappear into the darkness.

"…wait…"

But her voice weakened halfway.

Because suddenly the atmosphere no longer felt frightening.it felt lonely the woman never answered.

Her footsteps slowly vanished into the silence of the abandoned building.

Outside,,

heavy rain drowned Astra City beneath neon reflections and stormlight.

The woman finally stepped out from the ruined entrance quietly.

Still faceless beneath the darkness and rain.cold wind moved through her coat softly.

For a moment she stood still beneath the storm.then slowly she reached into her pocket.and pulled out a small silver pendant.old, slightly scratched, carefully

she opened it inside rested a photograph.

Samantha, smiling, slive woman stared at the picture silently beneath the rain.

Thunder rumbled across the dark sky above the city .then slowly she closed the pendant again.and finally lifted her head toward the storm.at that exact moment lightning split across the sky violently.

For less than a second the thunderlight illuminated her eyes beneath the darkness.

Dazzling emerald green....

Eyes carrying the scars of something the world had failed to heal.....
