Chapter 20 - Ch 20 Recovery

The hunting party rested near the nearby river, the sound of gentle lapping of the water against the shore a soothing balm to their weary souls. The remaining two squads, Li tianhao's and Li Jingwen's, were tending to the injured, their faces set in concerned expressions. Li Jian, his eyes scanning the group, nodded with satisfaction. They had won the battle, but at what cost?

He walked over to the injured, a flask of Eternal Spring Water in his hand. "Here, drink this," he said, his voice gentle as he handed the flask to Li Ming, who was sitting with a bandaged arm. "It'll help speed up your recovery."

Li Ming's face lit up as he took a sip of the water, his eyes closing in relief. "Ah, Father, this is just what I needed," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I'm feeling as good as new now. Maybe even better than new, considering I just took down 15 Tuskan raiders single-handedly."

Li Jian chuckled, his eyes crling at the corners. "I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate, Ming," he said, his voice teasing. "But I'm glad you're feeling better. You did an excellent job out there."

Li Ming grinned, his chest puffing out with pride. "Thanks, Father. I had a good squad, though. We worked together like a well-oiled machine. I'm telling you, those Tuskans didn't stand a chance."

As Li Ming continued to boast about his kills, Li Jian walked over to Li Yuxin, who was tending to one of the injured men. "Yuxin, how's the situation looking?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.

Li Yuxin looked up, her face set in a serious expression. "The injured men will be fine, Leader Li. Just some minor wounds."

Li Jian nodded, his face set in a determined expression. "Agreed. We'll get the men ready to move out as soon as the sun rises."

Li Yuxin nodded, her eyes crling at the corners. "I'll see to it, Leader Li."

As Li Jian walked away, Li Jingwen approached him, a look of concern on his face. "Leader Li, I think we should be careful about moving forward with the Shadow Mountain plan," he said, his voice low and cautious. "The demonic beasts are no ordinary foe. We don't know what we're up against."

Li Jian nodded, his face set in a thoughtful expression. "I understand your concerns, Jingwen. But we have to take risks sometimes. The villagers are counting on us to deal with the beasts. We'll be careful, I promise."

Li Jingwen nodded, his face set in a determined expression. "I'll do my best to keep the squad safe, Leader Li."

As the sun began to set, Li Jian gathered the two elders and the squad leaders in his tent, a map spread out before them. "Alright, let's discuss our next move," he said, his eyes scanning the map. "Our original destination was the Shadow Mountain, where the demonic beasts have been appearing recently."

Elder Li Shuying nodded, his face set in a serious expression. "Yes, the beasts have been terrorizing the villages in the region, killing livestock and even people. We need to put an end to it."

Li Jian nodded, his eyes narrowing. "The reports say the beasts are appearing in the Blackwood Valley, a dense and treacherous region of the Shadow Mountain. We'll need to be careful, but we can take them down if we work together."

The squad leaders nodded, their faces set in determined expressions. "We'll get it done, Leader Li," they said in unison.

Li Ming, still boasting about his kills, walked over to Li Feng and Li Weizhi, who were sitting in the corner of the tent. "Hey, you two hear about my kills? I took down 15 Tuskan raiders myself," he said, his chest puffing out with pride.

Li Feng's eyes widened in awe. "Wow, Big Brother, that's amazing!" he said, his voice filled with admiration.

Li Weizhi, always the quiet one, simply nodded, his eyes shining with respect. "Good job, Brother Ming," he said.

Li Ming chuckled, pleased with himself. "Thanks, guys. I had a good squad, though. We worked together like a well-oiled machine."

As the meeting broke up, Li Jian turned to Elder Li Gaozhong, a look of concern on his face. "Elder, do you think we're ready for this? The demonic beasts are no ordinary foe."

Elder Li Gaozhong nodded, his face set in a reassuring expression. "We're as ready as we'll ever be, Li Jian. The Li Clan has trained hard, and we have a good plan. We'll be fine."

Li Jian nodded, his face set in a determined expression. "Alright, let's do it."

As the night wore on, the Li Clan members rested and prepared for the challenges ahead, their faces set in determined expressions. They knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, but they were ready to face it head-on.
