Lin Meiyin opens her eyes and sees no sign of Gu Chenyu in the room, she goes to the bathroom and then freshens up, she looks around but still sees no sign of Gu Chenyu.
Lin Meiyin comes downstairs looking for Gu Chenyu and she still couldn't find him, she bumps into Gu Zihan who was holding his daughter. "Gu Chenyu left you won't see him" he said. Lin Meiyin gives him a side glance and walks away totally ignoring him.
Lin Meiyin leaves the house skipping breakfast she goes to see her Master carrying some dumplings with her.
Master Bo was having tea in his house when Lin Meiyin comes in, "Hello Master Happy New Year"she said showing him the dumplings. "You know what Grandpa likes"he said. Lin Meiyin serves him some food, "mmmm Grandpa won't eat any other dumpling again except for disciple's" he said. Lin Meiyin's cheeks turn red, Master Bo was busy eating and he notices the diamond ring on her hand.
"Are you married?" He said. Lin Meiyin pauses and then she was about to withdraw her hand when Master Bo grabs her hand and then looks at the ring, "Disciple has gotten married and she didn't even tell her grandpa I'm so disappointed in you, when did you get married? When did you throw a wedding and this old man didn't know about it" he said.
"I did" she said her face looking guilty
"We haven't done a wedding yet " said Lin Meiyin.
"I hope it's not that scum you got married to" he said.
"No Master it's someone else we're over"said Lin Meiyin.
"I'm still not happy about it, I want to see the brat you got married to " he said.
"He's a very busy man, I'll bring him to see you soon "she said.
"Stay a bit longer "said Master Bo.
"I don't have much to do "said Lin Meiyin pouring some flower tea for herself, she takes a sip and then she feels bitter inside. She wondered why Gu Chenyu reacted like that yesterday, she couldn't just seem to understand him. Lin Meiyin thought she was overthinking things and decided not to think about it again she came to visit her Master and forget about everything for a while.
Lin Meiyin followed her Master to the little pond in his residence and she helps him feed the fishes in pond. Lin Meiyin stayed there till evening she slept in the courtyard and woke up feeling a bit peaceful in the inside the first person who appeared in her mind was Gu Chenyu she turned on her phone not even a message from him.
Her Master was watering some plants when he sees her stretching.
"She has woken up" he said.
"Master I think I should leave now my husband might be worried " she said leaving. "Have a good evening " he said.
Lin Meiyin drives home hoping to see Gu Chenyu but he hadn't come home. "Well it's his life we're only partners what's the big deal" she said, taking off her shoes and looking at her toe that was a bit red. She yelps in pain and then goes into the bathroom she freshens up and then applies some ointment on her toe, it had a cooling sensation. Lin Meiyin couldn't help but wonder why Gu Chenyu hadn't come home she had her dinner, and it was 10: 30 and he was still outside Lin Meiyin looked at her phone and found herself dialing his number. It rang once twice finally it went through, someone answered.
"Hello Chenyu's not available right now if it's important you'll have to wait, or I'll drop the message for you" came a woman's voice.
Lin Meiyin hung up immediately and then throws her phone on the bed. "Lin Meiyin you're such an idiot a fool that's what you are, look you're so worried about him and he's out with some woman being all intimate no wonder he's so good at flirting he's a woman expert damn the Gu family" she said with a frown grinding her teeth. "This is the last time I'll care about him" she said lying down on the bed and going to sleep. After a while Lin Meiyin heard the door open, she felt someone walk into the room and towards the bathroom. Lin Meiyin shut her eyes tightly, and after a few minutes she felt the other side of the bed sink like someone was lying on it. She ignores Gu Chenyu and stays at the farther end of the bed.
**_The next morning _**
The two were far apart from each other and were both at each edge of the bed. Lin Meiyin opens her eyes and sees Gu Chenyu still asleep, Lin Meiyin gets up and then she goes to the bathroom. Gu Chenyu opens his eyes immediately she leaves and then he gets up too. Lin Meiyin comes out from the bathroom after a while saying nothing she didn't even give him a glare and went to dry her hair. Gu Chenyu observes her and wondered why she was so quiet this morning, he too decided not to say anything and leaves. Lin Meiyin packs her stuffs pressing them with annoyance inside the luggage, Gu Chenyu comes out of the bathroom looking at her, her face was filled with frustration as if she was taking her anger out on the box. He sighs and shakes his head, "That's not the proper way to do it" he said approaching her. Lin Meiyin's facial expression changes and she drags the box away from him, "I can do it myself Mr Gu" she said.
She was back to calling him that way but in a cold tone he couldn't even touch her.
Lin Meiyin zips the box "I don't need you to be so intimate I checked the room there is no bug, I'm fine" she said without looking at him and walking away. Gu Chenyu looks at Lin Meiyin she seemed to be frowning, "Lin Meiyin is there a problem?" He asked. Lin Meiyin looks at him "No there isn't I'm just keeping my distance we're partners remember Mr Gu" she said, marching downstairs. Gu Chenyu watched her leave there was definitely something wrong but what exactly? Why was she so cold and distant from him this morning " she said. Gu Chenyu comes downstairs and sees her sitting down and eating quietly, he sits next to her and he starts eating too. Gu Chenyu picked some food for Lin Meiyin and she eats it quietly, "Sister is something bothering you?" Lin Xuewei asked.
Lin Meiyin smiles a smile that was not a smile "I'm fine it's just that someone has been trying to show discord in marriage making my husband to misunderstand things, Sister I think you should keep your husband's hands to yourself or else next time I'll cut them off enjoy your meal"said Lin Meiyin standing up and leaving, Gu Chenyu wipes his mouth and then he follows Lin Meiyin who was sitting down with a stone cold face. "Meiyin I'll ask you for the last time is something bothering you" said Gu Chenyu.
"And why do you care!! It's none of your business"she said, standing up about to get up when Gu Chenyu holds her hand and pulls her to the wall. "Lin Meiyin do you have a problem with me you've been giving me the cold shoulder all morning"he said looking into her eyes. "Mr Gu isn't this too much" she said.
"Lin Meiyin why are you spitting at me this morning " he said.
"I told you I'm keeping my distance, if you want I can rent another apartment and only come if you need me" she said, slipping away from him and going outside.
Lin Meiyin and Gu Chenyu left Gu mansion that morning the journey was in silence. Lin Meiyin turns on some music in the car closing her eyes and not caring about his existence. Gu Chenyu on the other side was greatly annoyed by her attitude and he grinds his teeth then takes out the disk then throws it out of the window. Lin Meiyin opens her eyes looking at him. "Why did you do that" she said. Gu Chenyu says nothing and continues driving, when they get home Lin Meiyin goes to her room and shuts the door. Gu Chenyu decided to ignore her too and then he goes out, Lin Meiyin comes out in the evening with her laptop writing again.
When the door opens. "Nice house" came a lady's voice, Lin Meiyin pauses and stands up upon hearing Gu Chenyu's kind voice saying "Make yourself comfortable"
Lin Meiyin clentches her fists and then decided to show herself, Gu Chenyu looks at Lin Meiyin. Sitting on the couch was a lady who was thin, tall and extremely beautiful,
They both lock eyes staring at each other
"We have a guest" said Lin Meiyin.
Gu Chenyu looks at her " Meiyin why don't you prepare something nice like a snack or something"he said. Lin Meiyin smiles "Sure Mr Gu" she said going into the kitchen. "Who is she?" The lady asked.
Lin Meiyin stood by the kitchen door "My wife" said Gu Chenyu. "But only on paper" he adds he had already seen a figure peeping by the door. Lin Meiyin places her hand on her chest feeling the rapid thrum of her heartbeat, she frowns and then ties an apron on her neck and starts preparing dinner, with a long face, at the same time her ears perked up, on what they were talking about. They seemed really close and the woman's laugh made her more annoyed. "He said I'm just his wife on paper"she mutters to herself. "I thought of apologizing but I was just going to waste my breath" said Lin Meiyin taking her anger out on the vegetables. Aunt Chu wondered what was going on with Lin Meiyin she has been cursing at someone and then she heard Gu Chenyu sneeze in the little room.
