I sat in the tree, catching my breath and tending to my wound. The Scrabbler was still down there, watching me with its big, round eyes. I couldn't believe I'd almost gotten killed by a Gweak. I was supposed to be a hero, not a snack.
"This new life sucks" I sighed
The tree's rough bark dug into my back as I shifted positions, trying to get more comfortable. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and greenery, and the sounds of the forest were starting to become familiar - the chirping of crickets, the hooting of an owl in the distance, and the rustling of leaves as the wind whispered through the trees.
'Stupid game' I thought, trying to clean my wound with some leaves and water from my canteen. The cut wasn't too deep, but it stung like crazy. I gwinced as I dabbed at it with a leaf, trying not to make a sound.
"
Nice one, system. I know I'm hurt. I thought about trying to medicate myself, but I didn't have any bandages or medicine, so I just had to suck it up.
I sat there for a while, trying to gather my thoughts. I needed to find shelter and food, but I didn't know where to go. The forest seemed endless, and I was starting to feel like I was just wandering around in circles.
The Scrabbler chirped, and I looked down at it. It was still watching me, and I wondered if it was trying to help me.
"Sup?" I said, trying to sound calm and the scrabbler chirped. "Thanks for saving my butt out there"
The Scrabbler twitched its ears, and I tossed it a piece of food from my backpack. It caught it mid-air and started munching on it. I smiled, feeling a tiny bit better.
" you're the only one I can talk to right now and it sucks, I just want to go back to the original world" I sighed
I sat there for a bit longer, eating some of my ration pack and trying to come up with a plan. I needed to find a way to survive in this forest, and I needed to get stronger. I thought about the game's mechanics, trying to remember everything I'd learned. I had a basic sword and leather armor, but I needed more.
As the sun started to set, casting a golden glow over the forest, I climbed down from the tree and looked around. The forest was quiet, except for the occasional hooting of an owl or the rustling of leaves.
Time to head out'> ' I thought, trying to remember the game's mechanics. '
I started walking, the Scrabbler following me. We walked for a while, until we came across a small stream. I followed it, hoping it would lead me to something.
The stream babbled and splashed over rocks, and I followed it, feeling the cool water splash on my legs. The Scrabbler darted ahead, its little legs moving quickly as it chased after something.
As we walked, I noticed the Scrabbler was getting more and more agitated. It was twitching its ears and making little chirping noises.
'What the fuck? Is wrong with him?'
The Scrabbler looked up at me, and I followed its gaze. There, in the distance, I saw a faint light.
'
I squinted, trying to see better. The light was flickering, and I could see the outline of a small hut or shelter. Smoke was rising from the chimney, and I could smell something cooking.
'
I looked down at the Scrabbler, and it was watching me with its big, round eyes.
"Should we check it out?" I said to the scrabbled.
The Scrabbler chirped, and I took it as a yes.
I started walking towards the hut, my heart pounding in my chest. I was nervous, but I was also hopeful. Maybe this was the break I needed.
As we approached the hut, I could hear the sound of someone moving around inside. I knocked on the door, trying to sound confident.
'
There was a pause, and then the door creaked open. A old man looked out, his eyes squinting at me.
"Ugh, what do you want?"
