Fang fingered the ring for a while and then slipped it onto his finger, a perfect fit, he felt the power surge through him like a roaring flame being awakened.
Then as the chatter of the boys stood up to a ear piercing level the spirit king spoke again,
"All you boys are no longer boys, you are men." He said proudly, "Your 3 gruelling and gruesome years of training starts in three weeks. Just enough time to get you all used to your rings."
Fang quickly discarded himself from the crowd and started his 3 hour trek back home,
as a poor orphan boy he could not afford a horse like other boys.
When he arrived back to his humble village
he took a loaf of bread from the back of a traders cart, when the trader noticed he grabbed fang by the scruff of his neck and said to him,"why you little..." He said enraged, he quickly let him go along with the piece of bread when he saw his spirit ring.
The reason for this is because not everyone had the chance to obtain a spirit ring you see spirit rings were given out to selected people magically selected at random by the spirit king, when fang got the message he would be able to obtain one he was shunned by the people of his village, since he was the only person in his village to have one.
When fang arrived to his run down shack he stood in the only place were the sun shone by the window.
He put his finger into the air and admired his beautiful ring in all its beauty, he then proceed to grab his loaf of bread and shove ripped off pieces into his mouth till he could fit no more in his hole. After he had finished his dry bread roll he went up his shaky, wooden staircase and lied on a makeshift pile of cloth and drifted to sleep.
1 week passes...
The day had come, the day he would begin his training to join the death squad.
He left his humble shack and ran to the town hall were he saw a noble and a horsemen waiting to take him, because on this special day class didn't matter he was given a free carriage as a benefit. He swiftly entered the carriage filled with hope and joy to finally leave the dirty slum behind him and start a new life... a better life.
