Chapter 18 - Vaske's first major mission

While Bardock was fighting his battle, Vaske was going on his own mission. Assigned by Kronah to test him, but he wouldn't risk Vaske's life just for that, so he sent him with two middle-class warriors. One had 4000 power and the other 3000. Both were Vaske's seniors who could use Great Ape for four hours. But they weren't teammates this time—they were observers, sent to keep Vaske safe from something unexpected.

As for the mission, it was to conquer a planet with gravity the same as Vegeta, but where there were three beings with power levels of 10000 and many under them. Information about the planet was secret, but some details spread. Something that made this planet weak was that it lost its king two months ago. It fell into civil war, where three commanders all had different thoughts and wanted to rule. So it was classified as a middle-class danger mission for an elite squad.

Vaske's squad was about to arrive. When they did, they left their pods and dug big holes to hide them. Soon Vaske's "teammates" asked what his first plan of action was. Vaske answered that they should first see the fighting styles and weaknesses of the inhabitants of this planet, called Sumur.

They started flying, and Vaske's radar detected many life forms with good battle power crowded in one place, probably fighting. They flew closer and saw a big battlefield with around 100 fighters. One side was losing decisively and had probably 30 warriors, while the other had 70. There were many dead, so it was unknown how big the battlefield was when the fight started.

Vaske decided to wait for them to kill and fatigue each other. When the fight reached its peak again, Vaske shot a big ki blast. It instantly evaporated 50 weaker and injured fighters with ki power around 1000. Others either got injured or were fast enough to react. But they were still trembling from the power showcased. Vaske went into the crowd and started massacring Sumurians. Soon the whole battleground was cleared, but it was too easy. There was no one stronger than 3000 bp on the battlefield.

So Vaske thought it was probably just a diversion for the main army, and they shouldn't be too far. Then the Saiyans following Vaske asked what the plan was now. Vaske just said to find some resting place—it would be best if it was caves, deserted cities, or places without life.

The Saiyan squad started flying in a random direction and soon found another battlefield, but this time the battle was already finished. There were still Sumurians left, and one stronger one with power of 5000 bp, but he looked injured. Vaske waited silently and moved closer. When the Sumurian commander started eating food, Vaske put a massive amount of ki into his hand.

It was similar to Bardock's technique, but the color wasn't bloody—it was purple—and he didn't spend as much ki as Bardock did. When the Sumurian went to take his second bite, he suddenly saw a hand go through his chest.

"What is happening?"

Then everything turned black.

Vaske pulled out his hand, covered in yellow blood, flicked it toward a tent, and fired ki blasts, instantly killing the aliens inside who couldn't even scream before being evaporated. Soon other Sumurians came, wanting to help their leader who they thought was fighting an intruder. But he was already dead, and they came only to die. Vaske quickly dealt with them and started eating their food to refill himself.

After Vaske finished, he started flying toward a city not far from the battlefield—probably what both sides had fought for. There was life in the city, even some 8000 bp powerhouses, but Vaske wasn't scared. He just had to wait two more days for the full moon. So he did just that.

When the full moon arrived, a colossal beast appeared 200 meters from the city in the forest. It gathered massive energy and fired it. But there was some kind of ki barrier—clearly this civilization wasn't primal in their use of ki. Still, it shattered under the force of a 50000 ki blast. The whole city was left without survivors. Even the powerhouses were wiped out, and the only thing they heard was the roar of the beast.

Vaske quickly started flying toward the next city, but luck wasn't on his side. He was before a major city of Sumur. It had many warriors around 9000 and the strongest commander at 10900. The warriors quickly pushed massive amounts of ki into their barrier, and even the 50000 bp beast couldn't break through. But they didn't know that if they had waited, they could have done some damage. Of course, that would only be possible if Vaske didn't have two observers there to help him if something went wrong.

Many warriors rushed toward Vaske, but many died before even getting close. Vaske didn't stop firing ki blasts—anyone not behind a barrier faced certain death. More than 20 elites still survived and started attacking Vaske with different techniques. They couldn't do real damage, so Vaske took control of the fight and killed them like flies.

But more batches kept coming under their commander, who was a great fighter with unreal survival instinct. Vaske grew annoyed by their sheer numbers. He started jumping and firing ki blasts toward the ground, but it didn't do major damage because of the barriers they used. Now that many Sumurians came closer, they could even erect barriers under him.

But what they didn't count on was how ruthless Vaske could be. He jumped and gathered even larger ki into his mouth. Sumurians erected a barrier under him, but at the last moment Vaske turned his head. The blast went directly toward the city and its weak barrier, which instantly crumbled, killing everyone inside its bunkers.

Many Sumurians started screaming and cursing, but Vaske didn't understand their language, so he just kept fighting bloodthirsty aliens.

What Vaske didn't know was that reinforcements were coming. He fought this army for almost half an hour. He planned to rise as high as possible and disappear into the clouds. When he tried, he found they had erected a massive barrier around them. It wasn't as tall as the clouds, but still unnoticeable from the ground. Vaske hit his head on it and fell back. While in the air, he saw two massive armies moving toward them.

If he could, he would have fired ki blasts at them, but he thought it would be useless—they probably had barriers too. After five more minutes, the armies stopped fighting each other and united under a large barrier Vaske couldn't break.

Vaske was trapped. The other two Saiyans transformed and tried breaking in, but they couldn't even crack the barriers. The two armies constantly poured ki into them, keeping Vaske inside and the Saiyans outside.

First POV.I'm starting to feel desperate right now. These barriers—they are such a good thing to have on your side, and such a pain in the ass to fight against. I've got around 20 more minutes in this form. I think it's time to release my full power in great ape of 81000.

ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Everything started shaking. The Saiyans heard the scream but couldn't sense or scan the energy coming from Vaske. They thought he was desperate—and he was—but he still had trump cards.

I WILL KILL YOU ALL.

I gathered all the ki I could and fired it at a weird angle. Only part of it was blocked. The other part hit the ground, killing some enemies and carving a massive trench. Then something clicked in my mind.

Ohhh… it seems I still have time to escape this hell. There's a reason they grouped such a massive army in such a big crowd. They can't trap me instantly. The barrier must be made at a fixed size, then slowly shrunk.

If that's the case, I just have to kill aliens outside the crowd. Then when the Saiyans get in, we can massacre this force with ease.

Sumurians were terrified but didn't show it. They kept pouring ki into the barriers while stronger ones attacked me to stop my blasts. I used my tail to swat them away and continued firing. This went on for more than 15 minutes. I was making noticeable progress, but I didn't have much time.

So I tried to break free with the tactic I used before. If it didn't work, I would have to gather all my primal ki into one final wave. Nothing worked.

The Saiyans outside grew desperate. They knew Kronah said I couldn't die—and Kronah is ruthless. He exterminated whole squads for disobedience. They tried everything, losing their will. Barriers became their nightmares.

But I didn't despair. I jumped and floated in the air, positioning my hands and gathering all the energy my Great Ape form could produce.

First POV.It's time to use my ultimate move. I just hope I can break this barrier. If not, I'll be killed before I blink.

A purple ki ball gathered in my hands, growing until it was the size of two ape heads.

WARBORNNNN KAMEHAAAAAA!

Aliens screamed together while pouring ki into the barrier. Cracks appeared. My attack leaned forward—but both forces collapsed at the same time. Many aliens died from ki exhaustion. Only elites remained, splitting into three groups.

Two held the Saiyans outside. One came for me.

That group was almost exterminated. Even survivors could barely stand. I reverted to base form, anticipating what came next.

Sumurians rushed me.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

My power multiplied fourfold with transformation that sacrifices blood—32,400 BP. Silence fell. They couldn't feel my ki, but they knew it wasn't normal. I wiped them out in seconds with kicks and blasts.

Then I attacked the squads holding the Saiyans back. I had only seconds. I used Warborn Kameha again. Fifteen Sumurians with power level over 6000 tried forming one last barrier. It failed. My final attack—around 60000—killed them, though it stopped at their bodies.

Blood poured from my ears, eyes, and nose. I fell to my knees, then face-first into the ground.

The Saiyans broke through. They massacred the rest. Even vice-commanders at 9000 power level fell quickly.

That's how most Sumurian fighters were wiped out. Soon civilians and remaining strong lifeforms would meet the same fate—after Vaske healed, or if they deployed Saibamen.
