Chapter 20 - Return and politics

After two months of flying and resting, Vaske was back on Planet Vegeta. He wasn't entirely resting — he was testing his ki barrier technique, which had improved a lot, and he was getting familiar with it.

Vaske came out of his pod after it landed. His two Saiyan teammates were there, along with many aliens and Saiyans around. They weren't there for Vaske specifically — they were just there for missions or to make sure everything was in order. Then Vaske saw a Saiyan coming toward him, and he was strong — probably an elite Saiyan.

The elite Saiyan came closer and said without emotion, "The King wants to see you."

Vaske nodded. "Lead the way."

They left Ouril and Kjofi standing there and went to the King's palace.

Soon they arrived, and Vaske was met with the cold, calculating gazes of Queen and King Vegeta II. They had heard that Vaske had almost alone conquered a middle-threat planet. It was overblown, of course — those two were definitely helpful by taking some enemies off him.

But the King and Queen were correct in their assumption that Vaske was dangerous to their rule and their son's future reign.

Vaske, of course, hid any facts about his true power or abnormal growth. This was only the beginning of his rise, now that he knew what his cheat was.

The King asked coldly,"Tell me the details of your mission. It was very dangerous. You almost died. How did you deal with so many strong enemies?"

"I used many tactics and fought without much concern for honor on that battlefield. I destroyed their cities and made them lose control of their emotions."

Vaske mixed truth with lies so Ouril and Kjofi would mostly confirm his story.

"That's exceptional," the King said, losing some of the coldness in his eyes.

But the Queen was different. She didn't take her eyes off Vaske and still held malice in her gaze.

Vaske shrugged internally. Female or mother's intuition — whatever you call it — was crazy.

Then the Queen asked coldly and maliciously,"So you killed all the strongest enemies in a single battle, and it happened on the exact day the moon appeared. You didn't just massacre them — you gained a massive Zenkai boost, from what I heard. Doesn't that seem a little too favorable to you?"

Vaske replied coldly,"Luck favors the bold and the strong. I'm both. And I won't hide anything from my King and Queen. After exiting Great Ape form, I used a technique my great leader taught me. It gave me an unexpected advantage by confusing them about how I could still move after using my strongest move in ape form. Then I erased some aliens and made them lose concentration. That was enough for my two lifesavers to get their barrier up and save my life."

Vegeta thought about what to do. He knew he couldn't decide alone — he needed to consult his longtime friend Kronah.

"You did an excellent job," Vegeta said. "It was one of the fastest missions ever completed by a Saiyan, especially for a middle-threat planet. But don't expect such an easy mission again. You were lucky — they were in civil war and preparing for a final battle."

"Yes, King. Luck played its part in gaining this honor for Saiyans."

The King nodded, now without any coldness."You are free to go. As for reward, you will take it from the royal treasury. That is all. Go."

Vaske knelt."Yes, my King. Long live the King and Planet Vegeta."

He saluted and left.

The King wasn't malicious or suspicious of Vaske. He had already been informed of Vaske's battle power when he exited the pod — it was only 6,200. His own son was already at 7,000 and hadn't even had his first Zenkai from alien combat. It was only a matter of time before Vaske would submit to his son, the rightful and strongest ruler of the Saiyans.

But the Queen wasn't going to let Vaske off so easily. She saw he was hiding many things, and some things were better dead than left as potential surprises.

She was already making plans and calculations to ensure her son's absolute rule.

Vegeta raised his voice."Call Kronah. Right now."

Shortly after, Kronah stood before Vegeta.

Vegeta wasn't sitting on his throne, instead he was standing eye to eye with his long time friend.

Vegeta asked Kronah:

"What do you think about that genius Saiyan Vaske from your squad?"

Kronah dropped his aloof personality instantly.

"I think he has much greater potential than me and could even reach 15,000. His Blood Recall talent already surpasses mine. He will become extremely dangerous. But your son is even more talented — it's almost the same situation we were in when we were younger."

Vegeta nodded.

If Vaske heard what they were saying he would make sure to resist and make it as hard as possible for them. He hated manipulation and shady stuff.

Kronah continued: "Bardock could also become a thorn. You shouldn't interfere too much with Judas (The captain of Blaze Riders) and his actions let him handle dirty work. If Vaske gets out of control I will make sure to restrain him and make him loyal to your son"

Vegeta agreed.

Kronah changed topic.

I'm very close to making another breaktrought with Ikari and it will be sooner than later when we again gain our most elite squad in universe.

"If only my father's squad hadn't fallen on that damn Silent Planet…"

His eyes darkened as memories surfaced.

Silent Planet had first been discovered by Cold's forces. At first it was labeled Elite threat, but more warriors they send the more information were revealed and it was confirmed to be Legendary level — powerful enough to threaten Cold's territories themselves. That was when Cold ordered the deployment of the most elite Saiyan squad in existence: Oozaru – Great Ape.

Its captain was Kronah's father, Monach.

And Kronah himself had been there.
