Jay POV
Six Years Later
The lake looked peaceful.
The sunlight shimmered across the water like tiny diamonds dancing on the surface. A soft breeze moved through the trees, carrying the smell of fresh grass and the food from our picnic basket.
For once…
Everything was quiet.
I sat on the blanket, stretching my legs while Keifer leaned back beside me, looking completely relaxed.
"No meetings," he said proudly.
"No investors," I added.
"No emergencies," he continued.
"No triplets," I finished.
We both paused.
Then Keifer grinned.
"This might actually be the best day ever."
I laughed softly.
Six years had passed since everything happened.
Life had changed.
The company grew bigger than we ever imagined.
Our family grew bigger too.
And somehow…
Life had turned into a beautiful kind of chaos.
Keifer turned toward me.
"You know… we should do this more often."
"Peaceful picnics?"
"Yes."
He leaned a little closer.
"Just you and me."
I smiled.
"That sounds nice."
He moved closer again.
Very close.
The moment felt perfect.
The lake.
The sunlight.
The quiet.
And just as we were about to kiss—
My phone rang.
Keifer slowly closed his eyes.
"…Ignore it."
I checked the screen.
Hex.
Of course.
I answered.
"What happened?"
Hex's voice exploded through the phone.
"THE TRIPLETS STARTED A WAR!"
I sat up instantly.
"What?!"
Keifer groaned.
"Oh no…"
Hex sounded exhausted.
"They brought toy guns to the company!"
I blinked.
"…How?"
There was silence.
Then both Hex and I slowly turned to look at Keifer.
He avoided eye contact.
"They asked nicely," he muttered.
I stood up immediately.
"What are they doing?"
"They're chasing employees!"
Keifer whispered beside me,
"…future agents."
Hex continued,
"They broke two TVs already!"
I grabbed my bag.
"We're coming."
"PLEASE DO!"
Twenty minutes later we rushed into the company building.
And chaos greeted us immediately.
"RUN!"
An employee sprinted past us.
Another ducked behind a desk.
Then suddenly—
"TARGET SPOTTED!"
Three small figures ran across the hallway.
Two boys.
One girl.
Toy dart guns raised like professional agents.
"ATTACK!" one boy shouted.
Foam darts flew across the hallway.
Employees screamed and hid behind furniture.
I took a deep breath.
Then shouted.
"JACE! JAYDEN! KIRA!"
The hallway froze.
Slowly…
Three little heads turned toward me.
Jace stood on the left.
Jayden on the right.
And Kira in the middle.
Their school uniforms were a disaster.
Shirts untucked.
Hair messy.
No shoes.
Each holding a toy gun.
They slowly walked toward me.
Then lined up like soldiers.
Hex walked in behind them.
He looked exhausted but still stylish as usual.
Black jacket.
Dark jeans.
Cool boots.
Even after chasing three tiny disasters around the company for an hour, he still somehow looked like he stepped out of a fashion magazine.
He dropped into a chair dramatically.
"I'm retiring."
I crossed my arms.
"Explain."
Hex pointed at the kids.
"They started it."
"I did not!" Jace protested.
"Yes you did!" Kira snapped.
Jayden raised his toy gun.
"Technically Amelia declared war first."
"TRAITOR!"
Employees slowly started appearing behind desks and doors.
Some looked traumatized.
Jace raised his hand.
"We were training."
Jayden nodded.
"For our future."
Kira lifted her toy gun proudly.
"We're going to be agents!"
Keifer whispered beside me,
"…that's my kids."
I turned slowly toward him.
"You bought them these."
"They were educational toys."
I pointed at the hallway.
"They broke two TVs."
One scared employee slowly stepped forward.
"And the vase…"
Hex pointed immediately.
"Yes. The vase."
I glared at Keifer.
"You bought them these."
He tried defending them.
"They have good teamwork."
I turned back to the kids.
"All of you."
They stood straighter.
"Home."
When we arrived at Uncle Victor and Aunt Serina's house, the triplets ran inside immediately.
"GRANDMA!"
"GRANDPA!"
Serina laughed as Kira hugged her.
Victor lifted Jace and Jayden at the same time.
"Well look at you little agents!"
"Training!" Jayden corrected proudly.
Keiren and Keagan were sitting on the couch.
The moment they saw the kids—
"Oh no," Keiren laughed.
"What mission failed today?"
"UNCLE KEIREN!"
"UNCLE KEAGAN!"
They jumped on them like tiny rockets.
The room exploded into laughter.
Kira climbed onto the couch.
"We almost captured the entire company!"
Keagan burst out laughing.
"Impressive."
Hex walked in behind us and collapsed onto a chair.
"I deserve hazard pay."
Serina looked confused.
"What did they do?"
Everyone pointed at the triplets.
Victor nodded knowingly.
"Ah."
The kids started playing again like nothing happened.
Running around.
Laughing.
Planning their next "mission".
Then Kira ran over and hugged my waist.
"Sorry mom."
Jaden joined the hug.
"Sorry."
Jace nodded seriously.
"We may have overreacted."
I tried staying mad.
I really did.
But their tiny guilty faces made it impossible.
Keifer slipped his arm around my shoulders.
"You're smiling."
"I'm not."
"You are."
I watched the room.
Family laughing.
Kids running.
Friends relaxing.
Six years ago life had been full of danger and betrayal.
Now?
It was full of noisy children who wanted to become secret agents.
And somehow…
That felt perfect.
I leaned against Keifer.
"No more toy guns."
He thought for a moment.
"…What about water guns?"
I sighed.
"This is why they're like this."
Across the room the triplets were already whispering together.
Planning their next mission.
And honestly?
Life had never been better.
The End. 🎉📖
