He smiled to himself, pleased that he had gained Maya's support. She is a stunning girl, indeed, and also inyelligent.
She was ideal fo Bogdan, and he could swear that once the truth came out, the two of them would be together again. He hoped the girl wouldn't avoid him now that he had told her what he intended to do. The fact that he was bringing her coffee would serve as a bridge over the gap that already existed between them.
Entering the quiet library, his attention was caught by the scene unfolding before him. A guy was kissing Maya while she tried to push his lecherous hands off her body. He disliked both domestic violence and men forcing themselves on women.
He set the coffee down on the nearest table and hurried toward the bookshelf where Maya was clearly being held and kissed against her will.
He acted on impulse, grabbing the guy by the shoulder and quickly turning him around. The expression on the man's face betrayed his surprise.
Cristi was seeing red with rage and had only one thought: he had to protect his brother's girlfriend by any means necessary. He didn't hesitate and blessed him with a punch to the face, drawing a thin trickle of blood from his nose.
Seeing that he was no longer a problem, Cristi went to the table, stuffed Maya's things into her bag, grabbed her by the hand, and started pulling her after him through the library. He picked up the coffee from the table near the exit, and they left the library and the building, heading quickly toward his car.
He went first to the passenger side, opened the door for Maya, waited for her to sit down, then closed it. He walked around the car and got behind the wheel.
Turning toward the girl, trying not to scare her he took her hand from her lap and gently rubbed it between his warm palms.
-Are you okay?
-No… I don't know how I feel.
-What happened in there?
-He grabbed me and shoved me around; I can't even call it a kiss. Thank you. I don't know how far he would have gone in the library, but I'm glad you were nearby.
-I'm taking you home.
-I'll manage, don't worry.
-I don't even want to hear it.
With that said, he leaned toward her and pulled the seat belt across her without another word, then started the engine. The decisions had already been made. He took a sip of coffee. Maya could say goodbye to it—she needed something more calming. And nothing could be better than a tea sweetened with honey.
He adjusted the car speed to the city traffic. From time to time, he glanced at Maya to see if she was all right. In the end, fatigue overcame her before she had the chance to give him her address.
Wonderful. He was going to have to take care of the sweet blonde who had fallen asleep in his car.
