Chapter 32
Third person's POV
Louis wanted nothing more than to follow Lina, to make sure she was in safe hands. But the aftermath of the chaos still gripped the hall, and he couldn't simply walk away while everything remained unsettled.
He had expected the princess to trail behind her father as he left the hall, but instead, she lingered near Louis, which made him uncomfortable.
He wasted no more time and made his way to where his mother stood. She looked drained, the color nearly gone from her face, her composure barely held together by sheer will.
"Just head to your chambers and rest," he told her gently. "Father will be fine."
She didn't argue. More like she was too exhausted to. With the servants supporting her on either side, she allowed herself to be escorted away toward her chambers.
The king had already been transported to the infirmary under heavy guard.
Only then did something else strike Louis.
He hadn't seen Kael. Not since the chaos began.
