The death of their leader was the final blow needed to break the last of the hunter's fighting spirit.
Five minutes later they were all dead.
A few tried to flee, only to get downed from an arrow in the back, or were caught and torn apart by the rampaging Griffins.
Storm surveyed the battlefield to ensure that they didn't miss anything as Razor landed by his side.
"Is everyone all right?!" Asked Storm.
"A few injured, some of them pretty severe, but no deaths fortunately. " Razor answered.
"I'll ask the fairies to provide healing to the injured. It's the least they can do considering the trouble we went through for them." Said Storm.
He looked down ashamed before continuing.
"Thanks.... for saving my life..."
"It was no...."
An angry roar interrupted Razor's reply.
Fearing that a second group of hunters had stumbled onto them, Storm looked up quickly and saw that the roar had come from Aurora.
She was battering at the body of a mage. The man was long dead, but that didn't seem to bother her as she continued to rain down blows on him.
Razor started rushing to her side, but Storm stopped her by grabbing her shoulder.
"No!!! Let me handle this!!!" Exclaimed Storm.
He slowly walked towards her but Aurora didn't seem to notice.
"Aurora?! It's over!! You can stop now!"
She didn't seem to hear him as she continued to rain down blows on the man.
"Aurora!!" He placed a claw on her shoulder and fast as a snake, she spun round and tackled Storm to the ground.
As she loomed over him, she bared her teeth and dug in her claws. Her eye pupils had narrowed into thin slits, giving her an feral appearance.
"Aurora!! It's me!! It's Storm!!! The battle is over!! Snap out of it!!" Yelled Storm.
Hearing his voice, reason began to return to her. The fog of her battle rage subsided and she was able to see clearly again.
"..... Storm.... I..."
Not allowing her to finish, he got up and embraced her as she wept.
"It's all right! It's over now! They won't hurt anyone ever again!" Consoled Storm.
After a few moments locked in her embrace, Storm looked up and pointed at one of the uninjured griffins.
"You there!! Go with her and make sure she gets home safely!!" Commanded Storm.
The Griffin looked expectantly at Razor, who nodded her head in confirmation.
He then walked over to Aurora and draped one of his feathered wings around her.
"Come,milady!! Let's get you home!!" He said.
Without another word, they both took off in the direction of the Hatching grounds. Storm watched them go.
"You should go with her. We can finish up here." Said Razor.
"No! It's all right! I'll go see her once I'm done here."
Storm looked at the injured griffins.
"Augustus!! Check the hunters as well as their camp for anything of value! Razor! Tend to your wounded! I'll go check on the fairies and send them to you so that they can assist. "
He took off and flew in the direction of the hunter's camp.
As he landed, he saw that Kalipso had freed her brethren and they were currently in the middle of a teary reunion.
When she saw him, she tore herself away long enough to present herself before Storm.
"Is everyone else alright!!" She asked.
"Everyone survived, but we have injured, I need you and your brethren to go assist immediately!"
"We'll go at once!!"
They flew back to the vale together and the fairies got to work tending to the wounded immediately.
As Storm watched them work, a fairy approached him to tend to his own injuries, but Storm raised a claw to stop him.
"No!! Tend to the others first!! My injuries can wait!" Said Storm.
Once everyone was tended to, Kalipso flew over to him and began inspecting the wounds in his wings, as well as the side of his face.
At every place her magic took effect, he felt the cooling soothing sensation, as if ice cold water was being dropped on him.
Once she was done, she floated until she hovered in front of Storm's face.
"....Calamity .... I can't thank you enough for what you did for me and my people today.
We will never forget what you did for us and we'll make sure that the debt is repaid."
"I was happy to help, Kalipso. We should return home."
"Indeed!! We have a party to prepare for!!" Exclaimed Kalipso.
"Absolutely not!! I appreciate the gesture! But this is absolutely not necessary!!" Replied Storm.
"I insist!! It's the least we can do in thanks! Prepare yourself, Calamity!! Tonight you will see why my people are famous for our parties!!"
"More like infamous!" Thought Storm.
Storm knew that trying to convince a fairy not to throw a party was like trying to hold back a wave with nothing but his claws.
So he begrudgingly gave his consent and resigned himself to a long night without rest.
The fairies quickly got to work setting everything up.
Using their magic, they quickly created the refreshments and entertainment for the celebrations.
Storm attended without complaints but he was screaming with frustration inside.
He never liked attending celebrations after his home was destroyed.
It reminded him to much of the last happy celebration that he had.
Events like this forced memories of long dead friends and family to resurface, memories that he took great pains to keep locked up and forgotten.
The fairies created many different kinds of foodstuffs, most of which Storm found completely unpalatable.
The worst of which was something that the fairies called 'sweets'
Dragons had a heightened sense of taste. Most foods that other creatures would call 'bland ' was highly agreeable to the Draconic senses.
While foods that were rich in spices, or in this case 'sugars' tended to overload their taste senses and as such were wholly inedible to dragons.
During the festivities, Storm kept an eye out for one of the only member of his clan that was still alive but she never attended.
She hadn't so much as left her dwelling since returning from the battle.
Finally his patience wore out after a few hours and he excused himself from the festivities. Rather than going to bed, he decided to go check up on Aurora.
He stood in front of her closed door and knocked.
"Aurora? Are you there?"
