Chapter 27 - Visions

After Razor gave her report , Storm and Aurora flew back to the hideout in silence.

When they landed, Storm excused himself and locked himself in his parent's old dwelling.

His thoughts kept returning to the same revelation that Razor revealed today.

He was transforming.

Despite her reassurance that she doesn't think there would be complications, his mind kept dwelling on the possibility.

A knock on his door broke his focus.

"Storm!! It's me, Aurora!! I brought some food!! Can I come in?!"

Storm got up and opened the for her.

She walked past him and placed a small platter on a tree stump he was using as a table.

"I made some Boar stew for you. I seem to recall that it was your favorite food as a child. Is that still the case?"

"I don't know. I haven't tried it since the attack on the Hatching grounds.

I actually thought the recipe died with my mother." Replied Storm

"Your mother showed me how to make this while we were preparing your Hatching Day celebration.

I might not be able to make it as well as her, but I hope you like it."

"Thank you. It was very kind of you. "

Storm sat down and began slowly eating the food.

Aurora watched him closely as he did so.

Once he was done, he pushed the empty bowl aside.

"It was just like how I remembered it. Thank you, Aurora. "

She got up and snuggled closer to him.

"I'm glad you liked it. It seemed like you needed cheering up."

"I'm just tired. It's been a long day. "

"The news from Razor upset you, didn't it?"

"It... shook me up a little, yes." Storm replied.

There was a brief silence before Aurora spoke again.

"So... how does it feel? Being the progenitor of an entirely new species?"

Storm was silent as he considered how to respond.

"Lonely." he finally replied.

Aurora gave no response, she moved closer and nuzzles him.

"I guess... I'm still trying to process it. How could this be possible though?!

There's only ever been one dragon type! So why am I different?!

Would I even still be a dragon once it's complete?!" Asked Storm

"Of course you will! What else do you think you're turning into? An eel?" Aurora replied. "

Despite his mood, Storm chuckled at her jest.

"You're right. I'm just over thinking it."

"Whatever transformation is happening to you.

It will change nothing between us.

I'll still be with you, until the end."

He nuzzles her in thanks.

"It's late. We should probably get some sleep." Said Storm.

"I'll join you for the night." Aurora replied.

"That won't be necessary. I'm fine now. You can return to your own nest."

"I'm sleeping here! Now, Stop arguing and join me!"

She walked past him towards the nest in the center of the room, where she promptly curled up and closed her eyes to sleep.

Storm grinned at her stubbornness and walked over to the nest.

He curled up beside her and lowered a wing over her sleeping frame in a protective manner.

He promptly closed his eyes to sleep and end this day.

Storm's dreams were particularly vivid.

He saw a massive azure blue dragon standing on a flat mountain top.

Strange glowing magical runes covered it's neck, belly, arrns and wings.

It was much larger than Storm is now. While Storm was roughly the size of a small house at the moment.

This dragon was as big as a mountain.

Lightning was continuously arcing between it's many scales, horns and spikes.

Of it's eyes, no pupils remained, instead it was 2 blue orbs with no visible features.

Two sets of horns extended from the back of his head and a row of horns started at the base of his skull and continued all the way down his spine, before ending at the tip of it's tail.

A mane of long silver hair flowed from the back of his head all the way down to his shoulders.

Much like his horns and scales, lightning was continuously arcing between the strands of hair.

A single, glowing, golden scar was located in the center of it's chest.

Lightning continuously fired from it at regular intervals.

He was staring down at the ground far below where 2 large armies were clashing on the shore line connecting to the vast ocean.

The one army consisted of only humans and were nearly numberless in size.

Large ships were patrolling the ocean and were continuously firing arrows and larger bolts at the opposing army.

Some of these ships were massive floating fortresses filled with both mundane weapons, and mages that rained down death from afar.

A fierce lightning storm was raging behind the blue dragon.

Painting an ominous image on the already grim scene.

The second army consisted of magical creatures of every type.

Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, Griffins and Dragons were all fighting side by side against the horde of humans opposing them.

Even the more 'beastial' creatures like the Beastkin, unicorns, manticores ect, were present and fighting side by side with their fellow magical creatures against the onslaught of humans.

Despite the large assembly of different magical creatures, it was clear that they were losing this battle.

The dragon opened it's massive maw and a lightning bolt as thick as a tree trunk flew from it's mouth towards one of the ships.

The massive fortress ship crumbled as it broke in half before promptly sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

A second dragon stepped into view, she was much smaller than her partner

Her eyes were as white as snow and like her partner had no pupils.

She was covered in bright silver scales and she seemed to be glowing from within.

She was leaner than her fellow dragon and lacked his muscle prepositions.

But she made up for it in length.

Her tail was much longer than the rest of her body and coiled around her like the tail of a serpent.

A mane of white hair flowed from the back of her head towards her shoulders, before a single strand continued all along her spine up to the base of her tail.

No wings grew from her back, which was the first time Storm had ever seen a dragon without them.

A silver necklace with a large glowing crystal embedded in it's center hanged around her thick neck.

While her partner looked like a fierce warrior, she was as regal as a princess.

They exchanged a few words that Storm couldn't hear, before she jumped into the air and glided through the air as if by magic to go join the fighting below.

The lack of wings seemed not to trouble her at all as she moved through the air.

The blue dragon surveyed the battlefield below with an almost emotionless expression.

It's inner thoughts were unreadable to Storm.

It slowly turned away from the fighting and walked towards a ritual circle that was painted on the ground.

Several crystals were placed along the perimeter of the circle.

He walked to the center of the circle, then rose up on two legs

The lightning from his body started arcing with greater intensity as the crystals started to glow.

The lightning storm overhead intensified and soon several of the ships were burning from lightning strikes.

A storm of magical energy flowed towards the ritual circle and a fierce cyclone of energy formed around the ritual circle, hiding the unknown dragon from view.
