Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Jessica Williams snapped out of it, immediately fighting off the surrounding creatures to rush back to her dorm.

The Evil Seeds hadn't expected a fish to slip through the net.

The entire corridor of monsters surged toward Emma Smith like a tidal wave.

They stared deathly hard at Emma Smith, charging with speed that defied logic, faster even than a varsity sprinter in a fifty-meter dash.

They were like vicious dogs unleashed from their cages, or a crimson tidal wave, surging toward her with overwhelming force.

Emma Smith shot a quick glance at the blood flowing across the floor.

Ordinary rain boots wouldn't insulate against electricity at all. But this pair was the highest quality one on the shoe rack.

So, she had to gamble that these belonged to one of her wealthy roommates who had bought genuine insulated boots.

Even though she had absolutely no guarantee.

But since she had already stepped out, there was no turning back. No room for regret.

Emma Smith grit her teeth, squeezed her eyes shut, and threw the live wire into the river of blood beneath her feet.

In a split second, electric light exploded outward, centering on her feet and spreading in all directions.

The lunging Evil Seeds were instantly engulfed in the brilliant, blinding arc of electricity. It illuminated the entire corridor, dancing between each monster like blooming fireworks, terrifyingly beautiful.

Simultaneously, the hallway lights flickered and died in unison.

Emma Smith pressed her palms together, standing in the center of the bloody river. She was ready to go meet her father, who had drunkenly fallen into a pigpen and met his end at the snout of a pig.

She waited for what felt like ages, but nothing happened.

Hesitantly, Emma Smith opened her eyes to check.

Everyone in front of her was convulsing in pools of blood.

Residual currents continued to emit faint sparks.

Emma Smith's eyes went wide as she looked at the scene before her in sheer delight.

She wasn't dead?

Woohoo!

Emma Smith turned, ready to bolt. Even her heavy backpack couldn't weigh down her light, quick steps now.

She had barely taken two steps when Jessica Williams's joyful voice rang out from behind: "Emma Smith!"

Emma Smith looked back to see Jessica Williams, also shouldering a backpack, quickly catching up.

'thank you for saving me! I'm coming with you!"

Jessica Williams reached Emma Smith's side, her eyes filled with admiration and gratitude.

But Emma Smith abruptly took several steps back, her eyes guarded: "You weren't bitten, right...?"

Jessica Williams held up her blood-drenched arms.

It was all the blood of those Evil Seeds. There were no wounds on her arms, nor anywhere else on her body.

Emma Smith looked her over carefully before finally breathing a sigh of relief: "Okay."

Jessica Williams took Emma Smith's bag, slinging it over her own shoulders with incredible ease.

Emma Smith felt as if a mountain had been lifted from her back; she felt instantly lighter. Her physique wasn't exactly robust. Throughout college, P.E. class had always been her designated nap time in the dorm. Several months into the semester, she didn't even know what the P.E. teacher looked like.

Emma Smith and Jessica Williams crept downstairs together, their nerves pulled taut as bowstrings.

Although most of the Evil Seeds were upstairs, they didn't know if there were any left on the first floor.

Most importantly, those monsters wouldn't die.

In a little while, once the Evil Seeds upstairs recovered from the electric shock, they would definitely come chasing after them.

Given their movement speed, even if Emma Smith strapped a motor to her legs, she might not be able to outrun them.

Reaching the turn of the staircase, Emma Smith looked back and signaled for Jessica Williams to be quiet. Then, pressing her body against the wall, she slowly peeked her head out to check the situation in the first-floor corridor.

The moment Emma Smith peeked out, she found herself staring straight into a pair of empty eye sockets. Black blood oozed from the hollows, and the left eyeball hung loosely in a bloody crater on the cheek. It was right in front of her face, staring straight in her direction.

Emma Smith: "..."

Just my luck!

Emma Smith began to slowly back away, every nerve in her body screaming. The Evil Seed was less than a foot from her face. The thick, metallic stench of blood assaulted her nose, making her want to retch over and over again.

The blind Evil Seed lifted its nose, slowly craning its neck forward to sniff. Step by step, the blind monster advanced, closing in on Emma Smith.

Jessica Williams raised her arm, swinging the fire extinguisher she had grabbed from the stairwell.

The blind Evil Seed reached out its hands but grasped nothing. Confused, it asked: "Who's there?"

Emma Smith silently signaled Jessica Williams to stop. She backed away further, ensuring the blind monster couldn't touch her, then spoke in a low voice: "What happened? How did you get messed up like this?"

The blind Evil Seed immediately lifted its empty sockets toward the sound of Emma Smith's voice.

"You mean my eyes? I don't know which retard gouged my eyes out while biting me." The monster said, groping its way bit by bit toward Emma Smith.

Its movements were clearly visible to both Jessica Williams and Emma Smith. Alarm bells rang violently in Emma Smith's mind.

Feigning calm, Emma Smith asked in a deep voice: 'that's excessive. Don't you want revenge on that Evil Seed?"

As the blind monster continued to close in on her, it replied impassively: "Why take revenge? It doesn't do me any good."

A flicker of surprise passed through Emma Smith's eyes. She thought back to Sarah Jackson, who had been in a similar state.

The infected Evil Seeds apparently held no grudges against other Evil Seeds.

And this guy in front of her was a real piece of work, eyes gone, yet completely indifferent.
