Before Sora could say anything else to the father and son duo, a strong grip tugged at his collar as he was rudely dragged away by his sister, who was fuelled with numerous bowls of shoyu ramen and a desire to go home for the day.
Sora didn't really protest, he did kinda want to get away from that monster of a man as soon as possible. And he didn't blame Fuko either, the day had been extremely long and filled with stress and so many interesting events.
Sora had noted that the voice of his ancestor had completely disappeared after his meeting with Shuen. A coincidence? Probably not. Either way, Sora didn't think too much about it.
After a minute of his sister's breakneck pace, the two finally got home and Fuko released Sora's now stretched collar.
He picked himself up off the floor as Fuko rushed inside of the house, taking her shoes off at speeds Sora couldn't comprehend, even with his special eyes.
Either way, Sora brushed off any sand on his pants before walking inside the house himself.
Once inside, he took off his shoes and silently walked up the stairs, trying not to make his presence known.
"Sora?" A female voice came from the living room, making Sora roll his eyes as he walked back down the stairs, accepting defeat.
He walked into the living room and noted the presence of his parents. His mother was laying down on the Sofa, her big brown eyes staring at him curiously.
She was a beautiful woman, Sora took almost all of his looks from her. She had messy brown hair and slightly sun kissed skin. And on the other side of the room, on a rocking chair reading a book was his father.
His father also had brown eyes, but his hair was cream white with beige undertones, exactly the same as Sora and Fuko. The middle aged man peeked up from his book and noted Sora's presence with a nod.
His mother remained laying down, glancing at his sweaty face. "You should take a bath before going to sleep. Have you been out playing with your friends?" She asked, but Sora could tell that she did not care at all.
He sighed and replied with a short. "Yup." Before he left the room and headed up the stairs to prepare a bath for himself.
He wasn't bothered by the lack of interest from both of his parents. He knew they didn't like him all that much, but he had grown used to it by now.
Sure, he understood why they didn't like him. Him being born with the eyes of the Lord absolutely made his parents look like they had done something sinful and so the general public started to be more wary of the couple. Even if Fuko evened out the score by being a highly respected individual, Sora's existence was enough to make the reputation take a turn for the worst.
But even if he understood, he always found it stupid that his own parents cared more about their reputation than their own son. But nonetheless, he had mulled over this same problem numerous times before and it didn't change anything. So he just put more focus into preparing his bath.
…
…
Half an hour later, Sora was covered in warm water as he soaked in the bubbly bath, a lone rubber ducky floating in the soapy water.
Sora was at peace, the room quiet and his mind calm. Until it wasn't.
"Do not EVER visit that filthy bird ever again." The voice of his ancestor returned with one hell of a command.
Sora raised his eyebrows. "Damn… okay?" He said a bit confusedly. After the talk with Shuen and all the clues from how his ancestor reacted, he could tell that the two had some kind of conflict going on.
Quickly brushing off the aggressive old man on his head, he continued to soak in the warm water as he mulled over the day.
Today was one of the more eventful days of his life, he couldn't help but feel like life from this point onward would be full of similarly eventful days.
He sighed, the day had started off rough. He skipped school as per usual, no one cared, obviously. But that didn't bother him, instead he just went to his secret hideout / training ground.
Well, it was quite shitty for a training ground. But he was only 13 years old so it worked for now, it was just a small open patch of land that Sora would do laps around with a few rocks here and there that he would pick up as 'weight training' but it didn't really do anything.
But it helped him pass the time so it wasn't all bad. After that, he just kinda wandered around for a while before a group of teenagers brought him to an alley and started to verbally abuse him. He then beat those teens senseless and blew one of their fingers off. Then he got scolded by his big sister. Then he got an earful from that old hag. Then he met with the big bird and learned a few things about the world. Then he got food with his sister. Met Yukio and was dragged home.
Sora chuckled, a very eventful day indeed.
He then hummed in thought as he wondered about what Shuen had told him. Mainly chakra. He'd have to ask his big sister more about it the next time they spoke, but for now… he was just wondering what it could even do.
Shuen had said that it can be used to use various techniques, but what kind of techniques? Sora didn't see anyone in the village using any strange techniques he couldn't do himself. Perhaps no one in the village knew how to use it? Neither did he, but still.
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. The headaches he got from using his eyes were probably from using too much chakra. The sensation of that energy flowing to his eyes and to his brain now made a lot more sense.
He took a deep breath and visualised his own chakra, something he hadn't done before. He knew his chakra was about the same as the other villagers if not a little more, but he had never actually looked at it.
After a moment of trying to feel his chakra, he could feel it. That strange sensation that he felt toward his eyes when using them. Except he could feel it all throughout his body.
He concentrated, trying not to lose this feeling. He slowly tried to move his chakra and direct it to different parts of his body and to his delight, he was actually doing a pretty good job. He moved it around from his hand to his chest to his hand back to his chest and to his legs.
And then, he slowly moved a small amount from his chest up into his eyes as he focused on a roll of toilet paper. He pointed a finger gun at it as he focused the small amount of chakra into his eyes, making sure not to pour a huge amount like he'd normally do.
"Bang." He whispered as he flicked his hand up in a shooting motion.
At that same moment, the roll of toilet paper was knocked over, falling to the ground. Sora's eyes widened and he quickly sat up in the bath, splashing some water onto the floor as he quickly lost all feeling of his chakra. He had lost concentration, but he did not care. He had just used his eyes without experiencing any kind of fatigue or headache for the first time.
This was a breakthrough. Sora's very first breakthrough was in the bath. How poetic.
Not caring enough for the bath anymore, Sora quickly got out, drained the water and dried himself up before getting into his pyjamas and heading to bed.
He lay on his back, in his small bed, staring up at the ceiling. He couldn't sleep, obviously.
He couldn't wait for tomorrow to come, for he would spend his entire day playing around with chakra and experimenting with himself.
…
…
The next day rolled around and Sora was almost instantly in his clothes and out of the house, not forgetting to grab a banana for breakfast on the way out.
He immediately rushed over to his training area, already a little sweaty from the sprinting. But anyway, he shielded his eyes from the sun as he looked around, the sky a bright shade of blue and the distance sandy as per usual. He sighed and started stretching.
Nodding in satisfaction he sat down and started to feel for his chakra. It took a little longer than yesterday but after a few minutes he could feel and visualise it. A smirk appearing on his face.
He moved his chakra around, which was really easy for him. He didn't know if this was normal or maybe his eyes played a part in it. It's whole thing was manipulation of the various forces in the air. He hadn't been able to manipulate the chakra inside of others, but it came easy when he manipulated his own chakra.
He opened his eyes, maintaining the movements in his chakra, trying to get used to the feeling as he stood up.
He moved a large quantity of chakra to his feet and lifted his feet to see if anything changed. He did notice a slight attractive force coming off them, he felt like he could move faster, but he also felt like his feet were kind of sticking to the floor in a way? But it didn't make him any slower, it was hard to describe.
He maintained the chakra concentration in his feet as he walked around, it really was a strange sensation. He walked over to a tree, it was basically dead with no leaves and more like a dead husk of wood. He placed a foot on it and tried to flow his chakra into the tree, maybe it would come back to life or something. Well, it didn't. But Sora did notice his foot actually stuck to the tree pretty well, like he was standing on solid ground.
He took his foot off the tree and crossed his arms, still maintaining control over his chakra, circulating it throughout his body evenly. "I could try to walk up this tree, but I absolutely cannot be seen by anyone." He looked around, not noticing anyone.
Until he did actually, with his eyes he had acute vision and he noticed a small figure in the distance silently watching him. He squinted and tried to focus on who it was, he recognised the chakra. Which was something new.
Having a quick idea, he moved a decent amount of his chakra into his eyes. Not to attack or even anything to do with his uniqueness, just enhancing his actual eyes. Funnily enough, this actually kind of worked, he saw white hair. That was enough…
Small stature, white eyes and observing him. Hmm, this was almost certainly Yukio. But what was he doing staring at Sora training…? Sora suddenly got shivers. "He's not… into me, is he?"
Quickly discarding the idea, he waved in Yukio's direction, making the younger boy retreat behind a building.
Sora sighed before briskly walking over, if Yukio wasn't going to come to him, he'd go and see the kid himself.
After he reached the house, Sora looked down at the young white haired boy trying to hide behind a pile of trash.
"Get up." He said, his tone slightly annoyed at the fact his training was interrupted but he tried to suppress it.
Yukio slowly stood up, looking up at Sora. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to—" He tried, but Sora just put his finger to the boy's mouth, shutting him up.
"It's fine. Just leave me alone, okay?" Sora didn't want anything to do with this kid after seeing that creature of a father he had.
Yukio tried to reply but he just kept stuttering, so he looked at the ground and just walked away.
But then Sora got a bright idea. Why would he try to climb up the tree and fail… when he could get Yukio to do it for him? He suddenly grinned and spoke. "Well, I suppose you could train with me, if you'd like." He said with his eyes closed and his hand on his chest, as if he was offering the boy a grand bargain.
Yukio turned around so fast that Sora got whiplash, a bright, expectant look on his face as he nodded repeatedly. "Y-yes! Please let me train with you, big bro!"
Sora coughed at the nickname, they'd work on it in the future.
