Bella's POV
Inside the small shop, I settled at the low coffee table, acutely aware of the intense stare burning into me from across the room.
Julian had been watching me with that unwavering gaze ever since we'd walked in.
I finally lifted my eyes to meet his. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Ever since we'd confessed our feelings last time, Julian had dropped his cold act around me completely.
A soft laugh escaped him at my question. "I keep thinking about what an idiot I was before, letting someone as incredible as you slip by."
Heat crept up my neck. I smiled at him gently. "Something urgent bring you out this late to see me?"
The paper lanterns swayed under the eaves, their light dancing through the shop in shifting patterns.
Warm amber light played across Julian's features, making his already striking face even more captivating.
Julian's expression grew serious as he got straight to business. "That thing you asked me to investigate—I've got answers."
